When you read the Old Testament stories of Men and Women of GOD, you will see amazing realities of their existence in their time and location.......MOSES truly went through the wilderness.......Walking across the Sinai desert on foot, no LAND ROVERS here......No Jeeps.........!
How about ELIJAH...........wow, ever read his story......? Precious Saints of GOD, remember a STANDARD of GOD teaching us through HIS Word.......What happened in the Old Testament is ALWAYS A PHYSICAL EXAMPLE OF WHAT WE ARE GOING THROUGH IN THE SPIRITUAL, in the New Covenant that we are now in. The NEW CONTRACT WITH GOD AND MAN THROUGH THE MEDIATOR,
JESUS CHRIST.
Again, why do you think JESUS taught in Parables........Because NOBODY WAS SAVED YET AND FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT until HE breathed on them in JOHN ch. 21........DEAD to GOD cannot understand the Words of GOD or Heavenly concepts, because they are understood through your spirit.
1 CORINTHIANS 2 : 14 - BUT A NATURAL MAN DOES NOT ACCEPT THE THINGS OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD, FOR THEY ARE FOOLISHNESS TO HIM; AND HE CANNOT UNDERSTAND THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE SPIRITUALLY APPRAISED (discerned or understood)
So, OUR WILDERNESS experiences now, are us struggling to LIVE when we were already Crucified with CHRIST........So, if you are struggling to SURVIVE, OR BECOME SOMETHING............OR WHATEVER,
Then you could say you are in the Wilderness...........NOT A FUN PLACE .......LOTS OF NASTY EXPERIENCES THERE...........BUGS, SNAKES, MOUNTAIN LIONS, BEARS, CLIFFS, INTENSE HEAT, HORRIBLE WEATHER WITHOUT PROPER SHELTER, SHALL I GO ON.......
Dearly Beloved, GOD let ISRAEL wander there for 40 years, because of their unbelief, because of their grumbling and complaining........DO YOU KNOW IT WAS A STRAIGHT WALK OF ABOUT 8 MILES FROM WHERE THEY WERE WANDERING THROUGH THE WILDERNESS, TO THE PROMISED LAND........?
The number 8 in Scripture MEANS NEW BEGINNINGS...........
So, have you entered into your SABBATH REST YET..........HEBREWS 4 - THEREFORE, LET US FEAR (be in awe) IF, WHILE A PROMISE REMAINS OF ENTERING INTO HIS REST, ANY ONE OF YOU SEEM TO HAVE COME SHORT OF IT.......vs. 3 FOR WE WHO HAVE BELIEVED ENTER THAT REST........
vs 8- FOR IF JOSHUA HAD GIVEN THEM REST, HE WOULD NOT HAVE SPOKEN OF ANOTHER DAY AFTER THAT......vs 9 - SO THERE REMAINS A SABBATH REST FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD, FOR THE ONE WHO HAS ENTERED HIS (GOD'S) REST, HAS HIMSELF ALSO RESTED FROM HIS WORKS, AS GOD DID FROM HIS........
Please read this whole teaching in Hebrews starting at chapter 4 vs.1...........Read all the way to chapter 5, CLEARLY AS YOU GET NEAR THE END, THERE ARE SIMPLE REFERENCES TO CHRIST, SPECIFICALLY AS HIGH PRIEST, AND REMEMBER ONLY THE HIGH PRIEST IN THE OLD TESTAMENT COULD ABSOLVE SOMEONE OF THEIR SINS..................IT'S ALREADY DONE.
So, what are you waiting for.......? The only KEY to entering your REST* as spoken of in HEBREWS is total and complete surrender to CHRIST as a living sacrifice, THEN HE simply, and very lovingly WALKS through you and CONTINUES HIS PRECIOUS LOVING MINISTRY ON EARTH WHILE YOU REST IN YOUR SEATED HEAVENLY PLACES..............
