Hey, has anyone else participate in a missionary trip before? This past summer, I went to Lima, Peru and worked in an extremely impoverished orphanage. It was an amazing expirence. Wondering if anyone else had a similar expirence, or ever plans on.

I went to New Orleans and Mississippi after Katrina. Time of my life it was. I understand the joy you got from it and I would recommend going on one to anyone who is considering it.

I built churches in Mexico and Guatemala. I volunteer at a Christian shelter for homeless people in my city.

Believe it or not, I've considered volunteering for missionary work. However, It would be highly infeasible for a mainstream church to sponsor me. You see, I care more about providing for peoples physical needs than I do ministering my interpretation of God. If I was a missionary, I would spend all my time helping dig wells, plant crops, and build hospitals. I would have no time for preaching or constructing churches.

When i was in Peru, I didn't do a lot of preaching or anything related to churches, other than helping the orphanage keep their's clean. I mostly dug pathways for sidewalks, counseled the children a little, and did a ton of more physical work. Not all missionary trips require preaching or building churches.
