the topic of this thread was what we should do for a good pastor...

90% of the subsequent posts are about bad pastors...

anyway here is my contribution to the topic of the thread...

when i was reading the story of king solomon's dedication of the new temple...i noticed something very interesting...

after the celebration...it says the -people- blessed the -king-!

what does that mean? it means that we have the authority to bless our leaders...and our leaders are to acknowledge that authority we have and receive our blessing with humility...

so God has given us the authority to bless our leaders including pastors...and we should speak blessings over our pastors...not just in private prayer but in their hearing so that their hearts can be refreshed and encouraged...

some church liturgies include this...for example in the liturgies named for the apostles james and mark...there are several points in the service where the minister says 'peace be to all'...and the congregation responds with 'and to thy spirit'

Maybe it's just me., but it sounds like people don't like putting another person above them?? I agree with Rachael that we have the authority and the responsibility to bless our leaders and especially our pastors and teachers. They are invaluable to the church so much so that God has given them as gifts. Those who serve should be encouraged and supported by the body, the church.

It is very wrong in my mind to allow the bad apples of some leaders in the church to change our reaction to any of the truths of the Bible. People are so turned off by one another that they don't even go to church anymore. That must make the enemy very happy.

As long as it isn't Donald Trump or Ted Cruz...then you are free to curse them with reckless abandon. Sorry.... but I just couldn't resist pointing out the irony of her posts in this thread in comparison to the ones in the news forum.

Lol. I've been called worse. For example...stupid. I think Rachel has good biblical knowledge. The problem are those 18 inches from her head to her heart.

My heart is only 12" from my head (brain) :(

A journey of a thousand miles... begins with a single step. :)

Maybe a really tall person would have 18" between their brain and their heart? I have not seen my brain either. I have seen evidence of having a mind, though. It has gotten me into lots of trouble throughout my life (LOL) :)

Ya...I understand why. I sort of wrote this a little bit confusing. What I meant to say was that she prays for everyone unless their names end in Trump or Cruz.....maybe Clinton.

Her name is Rachel. She has been pretty mean in our give and take about the current GOP field. She calls Trump or Cruz supporters stupid and ill informed....among other not so nice adjectives.

My pastor could not do what he does and work a 9 to 5. Physically and emotionally impossible.
Thats because he's not suppose to do what he does. So you do not agree with Paul in Acts 20 where he commands all the elders/pastors to work from 9 to 5 so they can support the poor?

So there's only one elder in your fellowship?

And how does he survive without money, because he's not working?

Actually satan is very happy that people 'go to church'. They are robbed by the lie of the tithe. At best, being under the traditions of men that makes void the word of God, at worse being placed under a fake law that brings a curse on them. See Galatians. And they are confined to a pew with duct tape over their mouths for the most part while one exalted man with the forbidden title (see Matt.23) does the boring sermon every sunday morning.
I'm going to say don't check out 1Cor.12 and Epecians 4 and Romans 12 to see a biblical gathering. Because if I tell you to check it out you won't. Reverse psychology. Hope it works. Not holding my breath.

Solomon represents a great sin of Israel; he led Israel into ruin. Not a fine example for advocating the pastor-as-king rut the church is stuck in.

And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them. According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee. Now therefore hearken unto their voice: howbeit yet protest solemnly unto them, and shew them the manner of the king that shall reign over them. 1 Samuel 8:7-9
