I have been amazed at the ability of people to not wait and listen, but to jump in, claim they understand what people are doing, paint them in the worst possible light and send them over the cliff.

Love your fellow believers. Love your enemy. Be as innocent as doves but wise as snakes.

In normal life we want to be respected, looked at kindly, understood, and have the emotional package that goes with it.

Here, on bdf, you need teflon skin, stand your ground, and expect you worst enemy will just appear, and you must smile nicely and bless them. Most have no clue why they are so agressive or just set to to rip things apart.

And at the end, your trial is not complete until you can forgive them for the offence you felt.

Are you up to this?

There's been many topics about this before. Unfortunately, they are not that effective. The Bible Discussion talks about verses that people will take in different context due to their upbringing/section/beliefs, etc. Then there's the 'I will make the last remark to prove that I am right' mentality that many harbor when they argue (not just restricted to Christians, but we are talking about the forum...) You will always have at least 'that one' who will disturb the peace.

"In normal life we want to be respected, looked at kindly, understood, and have the emotional package that goes with it."

Wish I could say the same, but I have not received so much respect to agree that I want what is in my normal life.

Which subject? I suppose what I am trying to get at occured when I was helping my daughter learn to reverse the car into a parking space. I said we need to try this 20 times.

The 1st 5 were failures, but slowly each step fell into place, where when we got to 20, she could do it.

Many just give up at one or two attempts.

It is easy to talk about eternity and the impossible, but persever, be patient, try and try again, seems to be a different story.

Unfortunately here at CC that concept translates to if I haven't converted you to following the sabbath or obeying the law in one thread, another 50 threads on it might lol

Then maybe some on BDF need to try 15 more times?
