Earlier in this thread someone mentioned that the term fundamentalism has been usurped by people who don't truly reflect the initial intention of the term.

I wholeheartedly agree.

However, the term in its current context is relevant.

Nope, I'll point out the trolling part so you and anyone else easily see this is a troll thread.

Again, I'd encourage you to find out what a troll actually is. This is the second time I've seen you call someone a troll, and the second time that's been a false accusation.

What you did is say that Christian fundamentalists are killers, discriminatory, hostile, and belittlers and ChristianChat.com is full of them.
Ah...did you actually read the post? If you had, you'd notice that he also pointed out Islamic fundamentalism:

Islamic fundamentalism needs little description on this site. However, it is rather sad to see the broad brush of hatred/loathing placed against a faith that, in the very large majority, is a peaceful and respectful religion.
Eastern religious fundamentalism:

Buddhist and Sihk fundamentalist extremists have played a very large part in political and religious assasinations across Asia, and in the case of Sihks particularly, in India. Yet you wouldn't find a more peaceful people, in general, on the planet.
And, finally, atheistic fundamentalism:

Atheist extremists??? His name was Adolph.
As for what he said about Christian fundamentalism:

Christian Fundamentalism has given us killings at abortion clinics in the name of God
This is a fact, Christian fundamentalists have murderered people at abortion clinics in the name of G-d, and have even blown up abortion clinics in the name of G-d.

wars in the name of God
American President George W. Bush was a Christian who claimed G-d wanted him to go to war with Iraq and Afghanistan, not to mention the Crusades back in the Medieval days.

blatant discrimination in the name of God
Have we forgotten how we treated black people in this country like property, animals? Even out of this country, historically Christian fundamentalists used the bible to justify slavery. Google "the sons of Ham".

and open hostility to other religions.
This one is just so blatantly obvious I won't bother citing examples.

It promotes division within the Church and belittles anyone who does not mirror their perceived image of worship and faith.
This is also true.

I don't see the trolling in his post. He's stated facts.

I think one thing we have to remember, where those who kill etc, got named 'Fundementalists' it was by the secular society. By doing this they could lump together those who are truly Fundamentalists with those who are obviously 'zealots'. a very clever ploy indeed.

Why is it that everything the secular society does that seems to paint Christianity in a bad light is automatically some sinister anti-Christian plot? Have you ever thought that it might be because some Christians are NOT as goody-two-shoes as we like to think they are?

True. There is that implication. However, that was not my intention at all.

We live, and post, within the language of today.

Nope, because you obviously did not read what he was saying.

Phil
Yes I did, I just disagreed. He said:

Though I am very different from any other religious fundamentalist because I am Christian and most others will kill unless you agree with them.
Christianity is not spared from this. There ARE Christian fundamentalists (the bad kind) that are just like the fundamentalists of other religions.

Christian Fundamentalists don't kill actually if you go around killing people in the name of Christianity you are totally missing the point of Christianity.
You may be missing the point of Christianity, but there ARE Christian fundamentalists who ACTUALLY kill people in the name of both G-d and Christianity.

I don't see how I didn't read what he said.

I'm a fundamentalist, because I believe the Bible.
