Is the Bible necessary for a person to be saved, and what is the Bible for? Why did God give the Bible to humans?

The purpose of the Bible is to reveal to you the truths of God as assisted by the Holy Spirit.

The more you read it prayerfully the more it will fashion and shape your life.

We can be saved without having read the Bible, but that is only when we have received the message of the Bible from others, for it reveals to us the way of salvation.

But if someone says to me 'I have been saved but I do not read the Bible' they are revealing that they have probably not been saved. If they had they would immediately want to know more about Jesus Christ, and that is found in the Bible.

When a baby is born does it question whether to drink its mother's milk?. The Bible is our milk as He cares for us and we seek to walk with Him

Well without the words from the Bible, we wouldn't know that Jesus came to save us, and said to us, believe and you shall be saved. So yes it was very necessary for a person to be saved by God's very own words. God will speak to us in many ways, Spiritually, through audio, but mainly through the Bible. the Bible is God's guidance, and instructions to the amazing plan he has for us. So yes the Bible is necessary for a person, so we can delve deep and to understand God and see what great plans he has for us.

without the Bible, is like saying without an engine to a car. For the car to move, to work, you need an engine. So its necessary to have the engine for the car to work and move. Without the Bible, is like saying without batteries for an MP3 player, for the MP3 player to play your songs, you need batteries. So again its necessary to have something to make things work. Without the Bible we cannot know the real Creator.

To be saved? we need to Bible for instructions. All God wants is our belief, thats it, not works, not do this or that, as most religions want. God just wants you as you are, and believe in him, just that one word, Believe!.

I knew Jesus as a little girl - before I even read the bible. I was told about Him, but it was more than that. The Holy Spirit quickened His presence as real to my spirit.

Jesus even said that no man comes to Him unless the Father draws them. There is a work of the Spirit that goes far deeper than the written word. The written bible is a relatively new thing if you look at the entire span of time since creation.

Now, the bible is very important to me and I read it daily. Lots of wisdom and truths to be known. But that is only like putting layer upon layer to the Jesus I have in my heart. And my faith grows even stronger.

The bible is necessary to be saved.

At first, being drawn to the Lord, can happen with second hand knowledge of Him and His Word.

But actually knowing Him and Knowing His Will and being able to ask for the things that lead to salvation and being able to test the spirits all come from knowledge of His Word in the Bible.

Maybe the bible is just our re-assurance. But you can't know that you know that you know without it... Blessed Assurance.

Assume the bible never existed.. Who was Christ? What did he teach? What's the truth?

"And the gospel must first be published among all nations" (Mark 13:10)

The written word is how we come to knowledge of the Truth.

"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us"
(John 1:14)

Its that record of the Word (Jesus) that brought salvation for all who receive it. His word is everlasting life, it was preserved and proclaimed via the bible.. jmo

Rom 10:13-15
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

14 How then shall they call on Him in Whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in Him of Whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!"
KJV

19th century Christian Bible scholar E.W. Bullinger wrote a work called A Witness To The Stars, where he went to ancient archealogical evidence that God's Word was written in the star constellations, and how the pagans later corrupted many of the original names and meanings for those star constellations.

So if God's Word was first written in the stars, how important does that make His Holy Writ???

The words In the bible are needful.JESUS said the body counts for nothing, the words that he spoke/speaks are Spirit and they are life.

Right believing produces right doing.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the WORD of GOD.

do you not hear the words, you read, inside, your own head.

the film, the book of eli, would sum up, the reason. and would also serve as a warning. ie without a god, why would god, keep the world spinning. harvest needs to be reaped, without a harvest, then why keep the world spinning. (food for thought)

You still here, birdie? Just don't give us more tripe like this gem of yours from the Torah Study thread:
No wonder you confuse yourself with the Bible when you think everything in it is a parable.

The garden in Genesis is a picture of believers (A garden enclosed is my sister, my spouse).
That is why trees are the plants mentioned in it, not asparagus. Trees are pictures of people in the Bible (A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.) and (that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD).
------------------
Dust is a word for a human (for dust thou art). That is why Satan (the serpent) eats dust (persons)(And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:). Of course, this means that Satan consumes humans spiritually, feeding upon the bad spirit of sinful people.

Someone noticed that God blesses the animals in Genesis. Good noticing. That is because the word blessed is a word always associated with salvation. This is a good way to see that Genesis is written in parable form, since animals must be pictures of people, to have salvation. In like manner, the animals in the ark are pictures of people. Quite frankly, every animal that is mentioned in the Bible is a picture of persons somehow, sometimes including God himself. Here is a good sentence showing a definition of blessed (Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.) and (Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.)

How would you know you were saved if it wasn't for the bible?
And saved from what?
How would you know you even needed to be saved?

"So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), (Mt.24:15)

"Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near." (Rev.1:3)

Salvation aside, I'm pretty sure that he wants the believer to read it.

God can of course save someone without them having read the bible. God can convict a sinner of their need for Him without them having read any scripture.. although this is not going to happen much nowadays given the access to bibles now.

God can save someone without them having been told about eternal salvation by someone else. God's testimony and mark in the world is evident thru the things He has made and by His power He can convict sinners independently of whether they have been shown the gospel by another person.

As for the bible itself.. this is the very Word of God.. inerrant, infallible.

Like I said it is maybe not that common nowadays for someone to be converted without having read any of the bible. The amount of exposure to certain verses in general public view is high. John 3:16 is probably the major one.

Then you get Christmas time with verses in carols.

But ya.. the Holy Spirit inspired men who were 'borne along' by Him as they wrote scripture. The men had their own styles.. but wrote absolute truth.

Everything recorded in scripture isn't necessarily God speaking though.. so you have Satan's words and words of evil and lost people as well as God and His followers. But all are true.

Also no verse stands by itself aside from the Chapter and Book it is surrounded by. The meaning would not be complete without this wider context.

The only way a verse would stands by itself would be if it had no comma at the end and all the meaning of it was contained within it. (Not many verses like this.. although probably the likes of Psalms and Proverbs have a lot).

I don’t know if you realize how deep this question is, because it leads to what about the people who never hear about Y-shua. Paul says all of creation testifies of Him, Father Abraham knew Him in a land of pagan s and G-d called him out. So, yes, all of creation one they reach the age of accountability does have an accountability to G-d. those of the “western world” have heard of salvation thru Y-shua and those that reject Him simply are not saved. The Bible says we are saved by faith, but it does not say how much faith. That gives understanding a man on his death bed can get saved. The Bible also says faith comes by hearing and hear the Word of G-d; the Bible is how we grow in faith and grow in Messiah.

I think the greatest parable in the Bible is when Y-shua told of the sower who sows the seed. Some fell on rocky ground, some of good grown, some on soil not too bad but by the weeds and was choked and died. Then He goes on to explain this is the Word. Yes, it is about those that hear the Word for the first time but I have learnt in my 25+ years it happens every time I read my Dad’s love letters. That’s how I can read the same thing for 20 years then one day I read the same passage again and then all of the sudden my eyes open and my ears hear for the first time. Yes, you can get save without the Bible, but if you have one and want to live a successful Christian life in this world I do not suggest trying to do that without one. Why did G-d give us the Bible. Well that simple my Daddy loves me soooo much He wrote me personal letters so I can know Him. I know His likes and dislikes. I know His awesome power and fierce anger. I know His amazing never-ending love and grace and mercy. I know His sense of humor. He is one of the funniest people I know. I know His freedom and I know what it means to be His bond servant. I know He with just three little word created the heavens and the earth and all that is within them. I know my Dad bends His head down to hear my cry, I know He captures all my tears in a bottle. I know when I call on His name he rides upon the clouds, with His arrow already pulled back in His bow to fight my battles. I know my sin is forgiven and I am the apple of my Ddaddy’s eye. I know I am His and He is mine. Why did G-d give us the Bible? To know Him…. And know Him more abundantly!!!!

Romans 10:14-17
King James Version(KJV)

14.)How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

15.)And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

16.)But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

17.)So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
