And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate. (Rev. 18:19)

I'd like to challenge everyone who believes that Rome or Vatican City is the Harlot city of Revelation.

Well, there's just no way to interpret that verse when people say the Vatican is Mystery Babylon.

That's true but would any Catholic or American cast dust on his head when he sees that Vatican City or Washington DC is destroyed?

Literally casting dust or doing so in a theoretical manner of speaking? I could see multitudes doing one or both. But that's just my take, I could be as wrong as the day is long.

Just a thought...you remember the dust on folks when the twin towers came down? I thought of this scripture then.

Literally, because in the Old Testament we find the same practice being done by the Jews and even other Middle Eastern people. When Mohammed died, his followers cried and wept and cast dust on their heads too it says in their scriptures and some Muslims even today cast dust on their heads when something bad has happened.

Yea, that's an interesting thought. But still, they didn't throw dust on their heads themselves, right? Because the verse seems to indicate they cast dust on their head as a sign of grief.

I hope mohammed is on a rotisserie; seriously. That said however, I pray God will remove the veil that covers muslims hearts so they may see the glory of God in Jesus Christ, and rejoice.

What's the challenge? What would this have to do with Rome and her pagan system?

The following link is quite interesting although lengthy. It sets
out the history of Babylon both religious and political.
It also sets out that Sadam Hussain attempted to rebuild the city of
Babylon before his down fall.

The author speculates at the end that before Babylon can be destroyed as
stated in Revelations, that first it must be rebuilt again. Interesting idea?

https://bible.org/seriespage/23-babylon-seen-scripture-introduction-rev-17-18

"As you undoubtedly know, the city of ancient Babylon is in Iraq, about 50 miles
south of Baghdad on the Euphrates river. What you may not know is that prior
to Desert Storm and the conflict in Iraq, Saddam Hussein had for several years
been working to uncover the ancient ruins of Babylon with a view to rebuilding
the city and establishing himself as practically the incarnation of Nebuchadnezzar,
the great Babylonian king who took Judah captive from 606 to 586 B.C. This
captivity by Nebuchadnezzar began
the times of the Gentiles (Luke 21:24),
the period of gentile domination over Jerusalem and Israel which has
and will continue to keep all descendants of David from sitting on the
throne of Israel until the return of the Lord Himself."

First of all, those who are the one's throwing dust on their heads in the verse, are those who are all the merchants who get rich from buying her products and does not detract from the woman/Mystery Babylon, from being Rome and her pagan religious system.

So your problem isn't with the text it's with your idea of how it would play out? I mean it's clearly symbolic, but I'm trying to understand what you're actually saying.

Jerusalem.

Micah 3

1 And I said, Hear, I pray you, O heads of Jacob, and ye princes of the house of Israel; Is it not for you to know judgment?
[SUP]2 [/SUP]Who hate the good, and love the evil; who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones;
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Who also eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the caldron.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Then shall they cry unto the Lord, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Therefore night shall be unto you, that ye shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; and the sun shall go down over the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Then shall the seers be ashamed, and the diviners confounded: yea, they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer of God.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the Lord, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the Lord, and say, Is not the Lord among us? none evil can come upon us.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.
