1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Christ will come like a thief in the night as no one knows when. Scriptures to back up are found in
1Th 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in thewhich the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and theelements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Christ will come like a thief in the night as no one knows when. Scriptures to back up are found in

It depends, if by "second coming" your interpretation is referring to his visual, physical return to the earth to end the age, then the Lord will descend upon the earth and the church with him riding on white horses and all of those kings, their generals, the armies and all of those whom the angels will have collected (one taken) will all be killed by that double-edged sword, which is figurative representing the spoken word of God. (Mt.24:29-31, Eph.6:17, Rev.19:11-21)
If you are speaking about when the Lord descends from heaven and gathers all believers dead and living, then the dead in Christ will rise first and then we who are still alive when that event takes place, will be changed in a moment into our glorified bodies and will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Sometime after that even God's wrath will commence. Whether or not all the inhabitants of the earth will hear that trumpet call or only those being called up, scripture does not reveal. (1 Thes.4:13-18, 1 Cor.15:51-53)

First of all, it will not be when the End Times Experts predict. We can auto-reject them. But when it does come, everyone will know.
The lightning is curious to me. It would be great if it were a global lightening show immediately preceding His full presence on Earth. Christ says "AS" the lightening so it may be a comparison rather than a reality. Or it may still be a light show that appears like lightening. Think of all the skies of the globe lighting up at once in a lightening-like way.

That was the year I first cried out to Him for help from the depths of my being, not even knowing if He existed, was real, would or could help etc... but He was there, and He did help me, for that was the year I first got clean and sober after many years of drug and alcohol abuse. I also tested step three that year and asked Him to help me quit smoking cigarettes, and He did. Still, it took me about ten years after that to come to believe in Him as the God Who is portrayed in Scripture, and accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour
