I heard someone say the other day, "there is a difference between faith and trust". That really got my attention. Then the other night, we were watching Superman - Man of Steel movie. In it, superman is speaking to a priest while he's trying to decided what would be the best thing to do. The priest said to him, "Sometimes you have to take that step of faith before you trust". You know, I never thought of Faith and Trust to be two separate things. I guess I always thought of them going hand in hand. I'm going to spend some time studying this in God's Word and see what He has to say to me about this. Interesting, huh?

I'm posting this to get your thoughts. :)

To me, faith and trust would seem to go hand in hand. You can't have faith in something you don't trust, and you can't trust something you have no faith in. To separate them would be an oxymoron, kinda like saying; I have complete faith in my wife, but I just don't trust her at all.

In a Biblical sense at least, in relation to God, I think faith and trust can be interchangeable.

Regarding the movie line, it sounds cool but it also sounds like something you could over think. You could take a step of faith and if things work out the way our small mortal minds think they should, then I guess we might have more trust. But what if things don't work out in a way that makes sense to us?

It might be that faith involves in trusting God's providence over our lives even when things aren't playing out in a way that makes sense to us.

Spiritual Faith comes from our Creator, our Trust comes from our own hearts
and is our gift to Him...

GOD gave us our five senses, put there to help us perceive things(see, taste, hear, smell or feel)

but we have went past using these senses for there intended purpose and will not believe anything that cannot be perceived with one or more of these five senses

but faith pleases GOD and that Is to believe without seeing It first.

John 20:20-29
King James Version(KJV)

20.)And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.

21.)Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.26.)And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.

22.)And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

23.)Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

24.)But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.

25.)The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

26.)And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.

27.)Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

28.)And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

29.)Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

Trust is part of faith. Belief is part of faith. But trust and belief by themselves are not necessarily faith.

We can trust GOD to do things that are not his will; that is not faith. We can believe in GOD in a way that is contrary to his revealed will; and that is not faith.

Faith is believing what GOD says, having confidence in what he has said, and trusting that he will bring his words to pass.

I see faith as a sixth sense.

Faith has many aspects. Saving faith results in trusting Christ to save us. Enduring faith results in being able to trust God enough to enable us to endure. It is a consequence of saving faith. Receptive faith means trusting God to give us what is best for us. And so on.

I think of faith as believing in what God says even when it seems as if things are not going according to His Word.

Trust is what you have when you have no answers, you know it is all in God's hands because you don't know what to do or what is going to happen.

Well, let me share the story that got me thinking about the difference between FAITH and TRUST.

The other day I was watching an interview of Phil Driscoll. During this interview, he was sharing about his time that he had to go to court. I guess there was a mix up with the IRS. During this whole court preceding, he kept praying and having FAITH that God would keep him from going to jail. When the verdict came as guilty, he said that he then had to learn to TRUST that even though God didn't answer his prayers, that God was taking care of things. Well, because of Phil going to jail, he was able to minister to the inmates there and lead alot of them to Christ. Plus, he adds, that he was well taken care of while in jail.

So, in this story, I can see how FAITH and TRUST can be different but still be used together in his story.

I know for myself, I've been believing for healing for years. I have always told God that I have faith that "by His stripes, I am healed"! However, I am now saying, "Even though I haven't seen it manifest yet, I trust you, Father, that You know what You're doing". :)

Show me your faith without your works and I will show you my faith by my works.

In other words,If a person has true faith they will do good works expressed by their body.

Hi LOLOKGal
Keep looking at the spiritual mirror.(talking about the bible)

GOD knows what you need before you ask and If It's his will It will happen.:)

Right believing produces right doing.
