Pride is a STUMBLING BLOCK to each and every person who embraces it.

"Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off." Psalm 138:6
"When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom." Proverbs 11:2
"The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility." Proverbs 15:33

A key component to wisdom, is humility, a humble spirit before God. And what is an example of a wise person(tying it to humility)?

"The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise." Proverbs 11:30

Unfortunately confidence and boldness are mislabeled as pride.

Pride can be a dangerous thing. While God is indeed the creator and master of the universe, in the beginning God gave man dominion over the earth and to this day even God Himself chooses to obey this "law". Because of this, pride found in a man's heart can hinder the plans of God for that person's life. Pride can also hinder a church or a denomination when they begin to exalt their beliefs as the only gospel when in truth it is nothing more than man's interpretation which, like anything man made, is far from perfect.

I believe pride to be the opposite of meekness. Keep in mind that Jesus states that only "the meek shall inherit the earth". When you take into account that the book of Revelation clearly states that both Christ (in the millenium) and Later God (after the white throne judgment) will set their thrones up here on earth, then it is obvious that unless we humble ourselves and follow Christ's example, we will not share in this inheritance.

While I love to discuss serious and controversial topics, I'll be the first to admit that my opinions are simply that, my opinions and that they are subject to my limited understanding as it stands at this moment. Anyone who knows me also knows that I am very open to correction. However, those who know me also know that the good Lord has given me a keen sense of discernment considering the heart of a man and the motive behind his words / teachings thus very seldom do I follow after the latest christian "fad".

It is our job as christians to rightly discern what is being taught / preached and that begins with the word of God. However, just because you may not agree with someone else's accessment does not necessarily make them a pawn of the anti-christ. We have to approach this with love, compassion, and understanding instead of the denominational pride which is so clearly prevalent in these forums. So before you point the finger and begin shouting "false prophet" at the next person who disagrees with you, how about taking some to talk to God about the issue, that God will help you to see and guide you into all truth, and also pray the same for thast person who disagrees with you.

James 4:6-8 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, GOD RESISTETH THE PROUD, BUT GIVETH GRACE UNTO THE HUMBLE. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Pride gets no pleasure out of having something, only out of having more of it than the next man. --C.S. Lewis. Mere Christianity

job41,
Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me?

I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion.
Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about. His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.
By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.

Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.

Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron.
His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.

His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone.

When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves. The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon.

The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble. He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.

He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.
He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.

If u stop and think about it pride can be hidden in many forms..and we call it many other things , such as . im right and your wrong, we call it knowledge. Having to have the last word and we call it self defense.Puting someone else down because of appearances or background and we call it justified , because "they could do better after all."Pride is a dangerous thing hidden away in our hearts in many forms....

So true. If God can forgive, then who are we to place ourselves above God.

I dont think unforgiveness has to do with pride maybe pain.

Just some thought for us to think about.
If God didnt forgive satan and many others. Is it fair to say we should apply the same standard as the holy.I wouldnt ask a person who was tortured and abused to forgive the one who did it to her. There are many evil people in this world trying to take are very lifes from us.
Ungodly people,Perverse people, instruments of unrightiousness. They will be gathered and burned.
A rightious man will abhorrer evil.
If we can forgive it is best too. knowing God will judge the ungodly and reward the rightious.

let us pray for those who are in need of Gods help to heal.
Blessed be our God and Father
Peace and Love to those who love the Lord in sincerity

in my situation it was both pride and pain. I was abused as a child i forgave the abuser i had to. If i dont forgive God wont forgive me. My feelings were justified and still could be if i allowed it to be, but im not God, He chooses to show mercy to whom He will .Romans 9:18 nowhere did He say we have that option. GB

Im very happy you pain has ended and forgiveness has blossomed in you.

I heard a storey latley that made me sad;A woman was married and had 3 children from this man.She loved him and thought everything was going great. Then one day her husband left her for a younger woman. He doesnt pay support and not only did he leave the 3 children without support to burden the woman he left his 80 year old father for the woman to look after.

Being a christian woman she is baring this burden which is great in my eyes.its bin 3 years now and she was asking us for help with how to cope.

I wouldnt ask this woman to forgive this man untill he has started to fufill his obligation as a father.A man like this is worse than an infadel. This is scriptual.

God is understanding,God is Love, knock and he will open the door

biggest pride is wen we think we are right and everyone else is worng....
and i reckon its between churches
instead of fighting wid teh spirit of darkness we are so much filled wid pride that we fight wid each other rather than fallin in luf wid God
