Genesis 1:29
Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.

It is very clear, that right there it says God gave the first people the plants and the trees for food not animals.

[h=3]Leviticus 11:1-47
[/h]And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying to them, “Speak to the people of Israel, saying, These are the living things that you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth. Whatever parts the hoof and is cloven-footed and chews the cud, among the animals, you may eat. Nevertheless, among those that chew the cud or part the hoof, you shall not eat these: The camel, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you. And the rock badger, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you. ...

Here's more food for thought...

In Genesis 9:3 God prophesied a time will come when He will give us anything that moves along the ground to eat, just as He gave us the green herb.

In Genesis 9:3 God prophesied a time will come when He will give us anything that moves along the ground to eat, just as He gave us the green herb.
at that time, long before Moses, He gave to Noah everything that moves and lives on the earth for food.
in Mark 7:19, Jesus declared all food clean. in 1 Timothy 4:4, His apostle says no food is to be rejected if it is received thankfully.

here is more food -

my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.

he took some bread and gave thanks to God in front of them all.
Then he broke it and began to eat.

Once again, you have failed to consider context. This rule was in the beginning, before the flood. Time moved forward, the flood happened, humanity changed in many ways, and God had to allow people to eat meat, in order for the human race to survive, after sin was wiped out.

"The fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth and upon every bird of the heavens, upon everything that creeps on the ground and all the fish of the sea. Into your hand they are delivered. 3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything." Gen. 9:2-3

The Bible is NOT static. It is dynamic as God responds to the different needs of his people over time. Your example is ridiculous. That is like saying because the sons of Israel had to live in Egypt for a time, it is a contradiction that they moved back to Israel.

Seriously, God is always moving is people forward, that is one of the exciting things about the Bible. I do urge you to read the Bible and look for the forward progression as God moves his people from being just Abraham, to his descendants, down to David, down to Jesus, and then from Jerusalem to Judea, Samaria and all the world.

here's something that does not change -

man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God

They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be
full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock:
and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in
all my holy mountain, saith the Lord.

In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life,
which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month:
and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

I treat my body as a temple not a tomb. If killing animals is not necessary to support my life so why should I kill? How can I be a man of peace of I kill or cause killing?

And that is all well and good.......it is CERTAINLY your choice to be a veggie-guy........no one is denying that. However, when you come to a Christian Forum and try to tell others they are not being Christian by eating meat, is where you make your mistake.

On another note: As you are clearly against killing living things to eat.........what do you have against Veggies? You don't mind killing and processing them to sustain yourself. Just saying........

I imagine that Wheat screaming in agony as it is hewn down and placed in the thrasher and beaten into a pulp, placed in a hot oven and baked for consumption. (Silly, right? So is your attempt to instruct others)

I am a vegetarian for health reasons. But I would never tell anyone not to eat meat, because the Bible forbids it. That is an outright lie.

God gave permission for Noah and his family and their descendent to eat meat forever in Genesis 9. Like I said read the Bible and you will find out the truth.

Instead of reading SDA propaganda! I assume you are SDA, seeing as they are the only ones who push vegetarianism.

Some still can't stomach the meat, even though they may desire it.

1 Corinthians 3:2
I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

Hebrews 5:12
For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

Did I tell anyone not to eat animal flesh? I thought I was clear when I said the FIRST PEOPLE.
Yes life lives on life and I must cause harm to live. As a man of god I try to cause the least amount of harm.
As far as the wheat, wheat is a grain it is the potential for life, it is not alive. Life takes air and water. Eating grains is better than eating plants but still better is to eat the fruits because they are natures gift.

but what has the Lord given us? :)

He gave to Adam & Eve every kind of seed-bearing plant.
He gave to Noah every thing that lives and moves on the earth.
He gave us Himself, and cause to be grateful in everything :D

They who's they mentioned in the first part, second part mentions wolf, lamb, lion, serpent, they meaning the animals shall not hurt nor destroy in the holy mountain? and the mentioning of holy mountain does this mean the whole earth?

In scripture Jesus fed one fish to many on a hill side surely how they eat the fish "Raw or maybe over a camp fire" isn't mentioned i don't think?
if I had to guess some probably preferred a toasting first indeed fire was used for cooking in those times no?

I thought god nothing was alive on the earth after the flood. I don't think there was the original food that god told people to eat on earth. After the flood surviving was depending on killing. At this time we do not need to kill for survival but we still kill for pleasure. There are many arguments one can make to justify this but to eat animal you must cause unnecessary harm.
