Default Gospel of the Kingdom vs the Gospel Paul preached

The gospel of the kingdom is the good news given to the Jews of their promised kingdom, a literal, physical kingdom on earth where Christ is King. The gospel of the grace of God is the good news preached by Paul given by the Holy Spirit explaining the death, burial, and resurrection or Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins.

Matthew 9:35, "And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people."

1 Corinthians 15:1-4, "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved,...how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again on the third day according to the scriptures;"

This is called Mid-Acts Dispensationalism (MAD), I believe. Some new.modern.hyper grace teachers have adopted an adapted version of this in their teachings (for example, the Lord's Prayer was for old covenant Jews, but not new covenant gentiles).

There are not two gospels, or two faiths. MAD is simply another gospel.

I believe Jesus did offer the promised kingdom to the jews but in His foreknowledge knew they would reject it. We gentiles are grafted into the promised kingdom to come...Praise God

    Matthew 24:14
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

    Mark 13:10
And the gospel must first be published among all nations.

    Galatians 3:8
And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

There is only one gospel proclaimed in the NT.

    Acts 28:30-31 (Paul in Rome)

30 For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him.31 He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ—with all boldness and without hindrance!

Luke 18:32-34 Jesus is telling his disciples, "For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on; And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and on the third day he shall rise again." Is this not our gospel message? Verse 34, "And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken."

So what gospel did Jesus and the disciples go around preaching? The disciples had no idea about the cross. Peter tried to stop it from happening. After His death, the disciples weren't gathered around anxiously awaiting His resurrection.

The gospel of the Kingdom was specifically given to the Jews. Matthew 10:5-7, "These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand." Did the disciples go around preaching a gospel they didn't understand?

Has the kingdom come? Why not? Paul said his gospel was made known to all nations(Romans 16:26) and that his gospel was preached to the whole world(Colossians 1:6) and has been preached to every creature under heaven(Colossians 1:23). If the gospels are the same, then the end of the world should have come.

The Gospel of the Kingly Rule of God was proclaimed by Paul:

that we must through much tribulation enter the kingdom of God (Acts 14.22)

disputing and persuading things concerning the kingdom of God (Acts 19.8)

among whom I have gone preaching the Kingdom of God (Acts 20.25)-

He expounded and testified the kingdom of God and persuaded them concerning Jesus (Acts 28.23).

Preaching the kingdom of God and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 28.31)

For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink. but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit (Rom 14.17)

For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power (1 Cor 4.20)

and so we could go on

I always thought that the kingdom was within us because of being in Christ...

    Luke 17:21 (KJV)
21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.Romans 14:17 (NASB)
17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

We certainly have the righteousness and peace and joy in Christ so I'm assuming the kingdom is in us now..

Completely fallacious. Paul was speaking generally in terms of his day.

you do err not knowing the Scriptures or the power of God. the kingdom was at hand because the KING was there, and He continued there after the resurrection.

It was initially for Israel, but this expanded later in Jesus' ministry and after to include gentiles

I agree, the kingdom of heaven was at hand with Jesus being the king. This kingdom is the literal physical kingdom on earth. That kingdom to the Jews has been postponed, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in. Question, if it's the same gospel, why didn't the disciples understand it?

The kingdom of heaven = literal, physical kingdom on earth, Christ ruling on the throne of David

The kingdom of God = spiritual kingdom in Christ

Concerning the gospel of the Kingdom of God, I belonged to a cult, the Armstrongites, which made the "gospel of the kingdom of God" into an exclusive reference to the eschatological reign of Jesus Christ in the Millennium. They de-emphasized the personal salvation part of the gospel, and made it all about the Millennial reign of Christ. Additionally, they taught that other Christians were ignorant about the Millennial reign of Christ, which was a total misrepresentation because almost all evangelical Christians I know understand the Millennial reign. Some may disagree with particular aspects of when it begins, such as amillenial or postmillennial people, but they understand the concept.

The concept of the "kingdom of God" is much more comprehensive than the Armstrongites taught. It refers to the sphere of God's influence. The sphere of God's influence on earth was increased when Christ dwelt amongst us in flesh. It is increasing exponentially with the conversion of each new person, as they are added to the Church. It will increase exponentially when Christ appears again, and the Millennium is established and thereafter.

So, I don't view the kingdom of God and the gospel of salvation to be contradictory. It has to do with the sphere of God's influence. This is also consistent with the idea of the government of God over the individual, the church, and the entire world someday.

Note that I am not denying that God is fully sovereign now, but that his sphere of influence is more obvious as those who are converted are being added to the Church and coming under God's rulership in their lives.

Here's a few verses related to this:

Matthew 13: 31He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. 32It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”
33He told them another parable. “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened.”

Questions: If it's the same gospel message, then why didn't the disciples understand it? Why weren't his followers waiting anxiously for his resurrection? Why did Peter try to stop the cross from happening?

Maybe because they didn't have the holy spirit yet and their eyes hadn't been opened.

    MARK 9:31-32.
For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men,
and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.

But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.

Right, because this did not go with what they were given to preach. The truth of Christ's death, burial and resurrection was in mystery form up to then. It wasn't until after the resurrection did the Lord start to open up minds to understand. So my point is that the gospel of the kingdom is different than the gospel Paul preached.

Luke 18:34 It was hid from them. Why? 2 Corinthians 2:8 If Satan would have known the outcome of the cross, then he would have not initiated it to happen.

Romans 16:25-26, "Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:"
