i have great respect for guys and women who really struggle with this and having struggled with my own issues. But ive also seen the harm it does, , for those who dont think porn, sexchat and cybersex is an issue or harmfull to yourself and to your relationships with others and God, your decieving yourselves, you only have to hear genuine stories from both sides those who struggle with it and those whove been affected by their partners struggle, a great site is xxxchurch.com read the confessions and blogs it might make you think differently, as mahogany said , its a replacement for real relationship with God and others it twists love into lust, it takes away the need for real intimacy , hope that makes sense

Looking at pornography is probably on of the least perverse of all sexual sin. I wouldnt worry to much.

why we spend time killing people on a screen? Why we spend time having virtual sex? What is it replacing? To know that God loves us deeply? Someone to talk to? A good job? A happy relationship? A sense of being wanted and valued?
What about those people who have health problems? Or simply can't afford his/her marriage? But they still have sexual desires. What is your suggestion for those people?

You make it sound as if one must act on those physical desires, and after a lifetime in bondage to lust, I can emphatically say that you don't have to act on those desires. I finally was able to completely surrender and completely trust Jesus Christ to sanctify me in this area. It took years of shame and addiction to pornography to bring me to a level of depravity that ruined most of my personal relationships and all of my potential marriage partners were not able to accept me with this addiction. It is completely evil; it is spawned from the bowels of hell; it will completely destroy your relationships and your opportunities for finding a quality mate. Satan loves to make us think that it is an innocuous act that doesn't cause any harm, but many of the people involved in porn are satanists and slaves to the satanists. Many are forced to perform these acts under the influence of drugs and alcohol. There is nothing good about pornography and there is absolutely no excuse or justification for viewing it. I pray for all those who have this addiction and for all those caught up in the performances. God bless you all!

Why are trying to prove yourself right so bad -- this should answer your question. I challenge you to take a break from your virtual pictures - and see how much of a control it has on you. It does something to the human brain that is craved.

If your married and looking at porn go to a therapist. If your single and lusting get married. If your single and your able to go without...more power to you! If you are justifying sin...Keep it to yourself please...it is like fire in the chest. As my 4 year old says when he is being disrespected or witnesses injustice...he sobs and says stop your breaking my heart..or if thirsty he says ...I'm drowning. A lot of people are thirsty for the spirit like that..and when they hear these things of a person trying to justify a sin...it really hurts them. If it does to them...what is it doing to the person who is sinning?

If you are healthy and you have many friends. You have someone who cares about you. Communication can easily replace desire to watch porn.
But, when you wake up and you know that no one cares about you, all days are the same to you. You have health problems you don't have any friends.
Even if God is your best friend. You still need to communicate with people. God's purpose for people is to communicate with each other and grow spiritually. But, not all people have this opportunity.

Well depression is tough...but porn is definitely NOT the solution. Go for a run or go to the Gym. Go to Church. Make some connections... Surround yourself with positive reinforcements.

Question Re: Is watching pornography a sin?

Pornography? Isn't that looking at and wanting something that you don't have? Well, if you are not married to it then it's not yours and you should not want it. So if you marry & become one flesh then you will turn that sin into love. Otherwise STOP LOOKING AT IT.....

I'm not trying to justify sin. I'm trying to understand why you think it's a sin. I don't see anything bad about it. Usually sin has bad consequences, for example when you commit adultery you can get aids or other disease. When you murder, steal. You can go to prison for that. And when you watch pornography what are bad consequences?

Kostik, God's purpose for you is to be a friend of God. Jesus cares about you more than you will ever know. Regardless of your health problems, Jesus wants to be your best Friend and your Comforter and your healing Savior. He is the only one who will never fail you. He is the only one who will ever love you the way you deserve to be loved. Please don't believe the lies of Satan that this is the only life you can ever expect to have, because with Christ there is always hope, dude. There is an amazing adventure and an amazing God just waiting to take you to levels of love and joy and peace that you could never believe existed. May the Lord lift you up and give you His peace, brother!

That is one way I judge some of the stuff I listen to or watch. My husband is getting better about it too, cause I tell him that Jesus & I are going into the other room where there is not cursing or murder on tv. lol

I see the point you're making but it's pretty thin reasoning, whether the woman is on the computer screen, in a magazine or right in front of you....she is still a real woman who you are using to gain sexual release.
Seems clear enough that is lust and she isn't your wife, maybe looking isn't a sin but simple visual stimulus, what comes next however....well that is sin according to the bible.

I can relate with this situation, feeling cut-off from people and seeing no end in sight is hard, and I know well how that can drive you to look at porn, watch too much TV and generally escape any way that you can, all I can say to that is looking for ways to make it right is just digging the hole a little deeper, maybe you can convince yourself it isn't sin....but does that make anything better?....it didn't for me is all I can say.

Well I believe only the spirit can relay that to you... I know that sometimes we need to stop and listen. Like a food allergy or mild reaction to a particular diet...it may just be a little off for a while..you adjust...and over time you have actually adjusted so much that you realize your loosing feeling in your feet. And wonder why you are sick all the time...why your body aches...you realize that is was because of that lifestyle you had for so long...How do you break the habit at that point? Personally... I do not support porn..I have seen it and it makes me sick. As for the quality of those sorts of things. Its nothing close to being in love with your spouse and the marriage bed. It is lame, cheap, sad, and usually a very sloppy example of what that intended unity is suppose to be. I would personally discourage anyone from flooding their minds with those thoughts because they can carry into places that they should not.

I definitely could never be in a relationship with a porn addict...I would not want any person who watches those things around my children.

Looking at a porn may not carry a penalty or any kind of tangible consequence, but it can be an insidious thing that destroys you from the inside out, the consequences can be found in a persons mental health.

Many people testify to how various addictions damaged them emotionally and pornography is no exception, often it becomes divisive in relationships and for single men it often damages their ability to function in a friendship and get into a romantic relationship because they have a distorted view of women and how to behave around them, these are often extreme cases but they all start off as mild cases.
