I seem to have read that pictures of naked women, and even them doing sexual acts, (a totally common part of pornography) have been drawn and have existed since as early as 500 BC. A lot of them were etched into cavern walls, some into rocks/stones, and what not. Yet the only thing the Bible appears to condemn about that kind of stuff is the idolatry aspects of it (a reference to the 2nd commandment). Having said that, in my personal opinion, pornography is generally inappropriate for people who are in a relationship, and especially who are married. Because no matter how one looks at it, pornography is not as good as marriage. I mean, you are only seeing the people either through a computer/TV screen, a magazine, and what not. They can not talk to you from their pictures, they can not express any feelings for you, and obviously you can not interact with them. Pornography can also get very boring, too, as practically every gallery, website, magazine, and what not, always displays the partakers doing the same old boring stuff (sexual intercourse, oral sex, etc), and that can get very boring. To put it simply, if pornography were an aircraft, it would be that clipped wing plane, the Dodo, in the PS2 game "Grand Theft Auto III". I do of course have to admit that, at the same time for many, pornography can be highly addicting, which obviously in turn leads to idolatry.

Kostik, what exactly you desire when/if you watch porn and while that imagine? Pay attention that you ansver yourself exactly and truthfully because I speak from experience, it's dangerously easy to lie in this matter and it's not good at all.

With some points I agree with you but again only some points. Fictive or imaginary is different from real and again it's not sin to lust your wife. BUT as I learned the hard way and still can't do quite good with it. God told me quite clearly the following: "Don't lust your wife before she is your wife or it's adultery."
So, to take that matter when whatching porn would be accepted? I guess If you could watch porn totally objective and in your mind see your wife (not future but one you are married at the moment) instead of the picture there. That would be something like right direction but again (in most cases) why to watch pictures if you can be with her in real?

in my opinion, porn is a sin to be a part of, watching this garbage has messed up many minds, and has taken control of the people watching it. satan is the master of such things, who is your master? we can only serve one. So in my opinion any body condoning such things as porn and such must be involved in it, and trying to get approval of others. Such things will never be approved from God, Christ Jesus is our role model, and i don't think he would waste His life on such things. One way, one truth, one life, And His name is Jesus. Thank You Father for sending Christ Jesus our Lord, Jesus makes the way when there seems to be no way.

Yes, it is. Besides being an abomination to our Father and Savior, it generates mob affaires, encourages drug use, and a lot of other obviously connected wicked activities....................

Just out of curiosity for definition of porn. If your wife makes of her own would make material similar to pornography and gives it for you to watch when you are away (lets say work trip or something) is that porn too?

Hebrews 13:4
4Marriage is honourable in all; and the bed undefiled

If its within the boundaries strictly within marriage then its not abominable to the Lord as it also serves to keep one another from temptation when away from each other if that is an aspect of weakness which the devil may see and try to use as an attack to infiltrate the marriage

1 Corinthians 7:5 addresses this aspect since once desires have been awakened in a healthy marriage its fairly difficult to just set them aside cold turkey.

Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

One may have self control, the other may not have the same level.
In a marriage one partner should take the others weaknesses into consideration and be a helpful partner as opposed to a hinderance
And where one may be weak the other may be strong
This is just one of the ways a man and woman help to balance one another
The man may be strong in other aspects for his wife such as emotional support and encouragement as her leader and guide through life as Christ is to the Church.
Yet it shouldnt always be the man being the strong one, since as it is written the relationship should be equally yoked lest the man is then incorrectly expected to carry most of the burden.
As in a womans purpose of creation her helpfulness and submission to her man also provides a great example to her husband of how he is to be toward Christ

I think the primary concerns about pornography, before deciding to watch it or not should be:

1. What kind of exploitation is occurring on the part of the participants, even those who are totally consenting. What has led them to this point in their life.

2. What are the acts that are being performed. Heterosexual sodomy has exploded in the last decade.

Can you watch this material knowing that the girl in the video probably never had a good male role model in her life, and who knows what else, so that she has been brought to the point that giving her body to a stranger for money, and fame, is the center of her life?

Technically speaking though, I do not believe there is anything inherently sinful about seeing the naked body or even a monogamous couple having sex. Even up close. Who knows what Cain and Able (and others) got their eyes full of when they were kids. :p

'If you cannot control your lust, it is better to be married than to be tormented' . .. unless of course your lust is for porn . . cause that's completely different rules and the almighty God reckons porn isn't real anyway so let's all just watch it . . . . ..

:/

Hey folks, this guys been banned.
Who's question are you answering?
And who are you telling it to?
Is porn a sin? - Of course, among many other things.
Did not Jesus say that if a man even lusted in his heart after a woman he has committed adultery already?
How profane we are and holy we pretend to be.

That's a very good point, I guess not everyone have recogniced he is banned.

Then about the question itself. The word is quite clear that the kind of lusting is bad. To me it have raised question though (or actually I've been asked to explain it) If man lusts in his heart a woman and therefore commits a sin then why not it's not sin of lusting the very same way a woman who is "called as" his wife?
Is it only because the status of man and wife and that God have blessed the marriage the only thing(s) validating the thought and acts or is there more?

You understood?

Yes, I think I do.
A man lusting after his wife is like a hungry belly yearning for dinner.
How can it be a sin?
After all: male and female He made them.

Wow!!!! only 93 replies and about 14,500 looks. That is 156 looks per post, as compared to the normal 10 per post.

If people could only be as half as interested in pleasing God.

Think it this way. (just assumption) The question is teaser, something to shake our world and belief. Maby, and I say now MABY people come here just to see (try) what this really about. If that's true the point is that it's not so important can we put our attention to certain earthly matters, but do we care if people think in general some way or another about it and are we living as supposed to?

Maby the starter of this topid didn't meant it that way, but that's how I see it becoming to. and see all the people just saying "it is"? :)
