Scriptures regarding Husbands

Matthew 7:12 - So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. [Evidently, the men posting scriptures regarding women wish that us women would do also to them and have us post scriptures regarding men.] :)

I Peter 3:5 – A woman’s beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. [SUP]4 [/SUP]Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. For this is how the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves, by submitting to their own husbands. [If a husband desires a godly submissive wife, he should not expect her to adorn herself outwardly. Ever.] :)

Colossians 3:19 - Husbands, love your wives, and never be harsh with them.[Husbands should never be sarcastic, negative, angry, make unpleasant comments] :)

Ephesians 5:25 - Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself up for it; [Love: to welcome, please, adore, be fond of, love dearly, be contented with] :)

1 Peter 3:7 - Likewise, you husbands, dwell with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor [reverence] to the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers are not hindered.[God holds husbands responsible to acknowledge their wives with honor.] :)

Ephesians 5:21 - Submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ. [Subjection to your wife, to yield to your wife’s admonition or advice, obey your wife] :)

Ephesians 5:28 - So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loves his wife loves himself. [What’s good for the goose, is good for the gander.] :)

1 Timothy 5:8 - But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. [Husbands should provide for his wife’s needs.] :)

Ecclesiastes 9:9 - Live joyfully with the wife whom you love all the days of the life… [Husbands should be joyful and not miserable or moody every day.] :)

Ephesians 5:31 - For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. [Husbands should be in partnership with his wife and make decisions together.] :)

Malachi 2:15 - Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. [Husbands should never betray or deceive their wives.] :)

Exodus 20:14 - You shall not commit adultery. :)

Proverbs 5:20 - Why should you be intoxicated, my son, with a forbidden woman and embrace the bosom of an adulteress? [That includes ungodly entertainment, watching porn, gawking at women, roving eye, flirting with women, etc.] :)

Matthew 5:28 - But I say to you that any man who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. [Husbands should not lust after other women. Ever.] :)

I Corinthians 7:3 - The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights. [A husband should not neglect to please his wife.] :)

I Peter 3:3-5 - [SUP]3 [/SUP]Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— [SUP]4 [/SUP]but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious. [SUP]5 [/SUP]For this is how the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves. [A husband should not expect his wife to fix herself up outwardly for him but instead be pleased that she is holy to God.] :)

Song of Solomon 7:1-8 - How beautiful are your feet in sandals, O noble daughter! Your rounded thighs are like jewels, the work of a master hand. Your navel is a rounded bowl that never lacks mixed wine. Your belly is a heap of wheat, encircled with lilies. Your two breasts are like two fawns, twins of a gazelle. Your neck is like an ivory tower. Your eyes are pools in Heshbon, by the gate of Bath-rabbim. Your nose is like a tower of Lebanon, which looks toward Damascus. Your head crowns you like Carmel, and your flowing locks are like purple; a king is held captive in the tresses. ...[Husbands should talk to their wives with loving words of praise as this scripture demonstrates.] :)

Qualifications of Bishops
3 The saying is sure; whoever aspires to the office of bishop desires a noble task. [SUP]2 [/SUP]Now a bishop must be blameless, married only once, be temperate, sensible, exhibit good behavior, hospitable, able to teach, not a wine drinker, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, and not greedy for money. [SUP]4 [/SUP]He must manage his own household well, keeping his children submissive and respectful in every way— [SUP]5 [/SUP]for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how can he take care of God’s church? [SUP]6 [/SUP]He must not be a recent convert; otherwise, he may be puffed up with arrogance and fall into the same temptation as the devil. [SUP]7 [/SUP]In addition, he must be well respected by thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace and the snare of the devil.
[All the men who are preaching here about women should themselves be blameless, not argumentative; they should be patient and gentle, not prideful or rude, and be respectful of others, and they should be held accountable to these standards at all times.] :)

I'm assuming the men who are holding us women to the letter of the law are also holding themselves to it, too. :)

God will hold all of us accountable to the word of God. Each and every Christian will give an account to the Lord for what we have done since we have been saved.

When those works pass through the fire the works done apart from the Holy Spirit will be consumed and we will suffer loss. We are still saved but we do not receive rewards for what we have done in our strength and by our will when it is in opposition to Christ even if we have done it in His name. Only God can change what people believe in their hearts.

Well, we find nothing about: wearing shoes, singing ore giving testimony about healing in the church, but we find scripture which says that Woman should not Teach (preach)in the Church and have Authority over man.
Yes we have different understanding, but it Wonders me that this understanding which you defend is only around 150 years old. Where all the scolars and churchleaders wrong before this Time? Had they a wrong understanding from the scripture?
If ephesians 5 would be consequent lives out, Woman would have no reason to fight for their God given Rights.

I would think we should look at the setting as the foundation.

The time of reformation has come it did away with the segregation of men and woman. The woman was no allowed to mingle with the men. That period of time that was used as a parable for the time then present had come to end. The new government was being established as it was restored to time of Judges when woman were used just as men to bring new prophecy .

And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters “shall prophesy”, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: Act 2:17

To prophecy is to declare the word of God, as the Holy Spirit preaches the gospel, as the living word, he causes the increase.

It has nothing to do with male or female

It is already established in 1 Corinthians 14 .So it is not saying women cannot prophecy by declaring the word of God as Christ in them works to both will and do His good pleasure.

But for immorality sake she is not council with men or men council with woman .Woman are to council concerning relationship problem with they husbands at home just as men. The church as to its discipline has assigned deacons for men and woman to take the difficulties to.

Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.
And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. 1Co 14:34

Again it not saying she cannot prophecy. Just if she is to learn anthing as far as relationship problem.Give her husband the honor.

It cannot be that she must learn from a man the meaning of prophecy. Thats the MO of the antichrists. As the living word of God teaches men or woman, we abide in Him the teacher.

I think being harassed on a website compares favorably with being boiled in oil, beaten with rods, whipped (scourged, actually), etc. It isn't supposed to be easy. But if God calls you He will and in fact has already equipped you.

Jesus didn't think it was a little thing. He was very angry at the Pharisees who continually beleagured folks with their hammering of the law and puffing themselves up. Jesus called them a brood of vipers. It is no small sin to keep kicking the slats out from under people (in this case, godly women) who are living to minister to others in Christ Jesus.

God will hold us all accountable? God holds us accountable presently. RIGHT NOW.

People should take into consideration that when they assume the role of a preacher on this site, they are held accountable RIGHT NOW. Whatever judgment they are using against others, will be used for them as well. Because people come to this site every day to be fed spiritually and if folks are posting things contrary to the liberty we have in the Lord Jesus Christ, they are in opposition to Christ RIGHT NOW.

The Holy God who created us all and put us on this earth, gave up His only Son that we could live freely in Him while on this earth, and so that others might come to know Him and be saved eternally. Either we are interfering in that plan and purpose, or we are in line with it. RIGHT NOW.

The quoting of acts 2, 17 original is from Joel 2. The context from Joel 2 is clear meant for the nation of Israel. And must be in future because the context till yet is not realized for Israel. When Peter qoutet this in Acts 2 then it is clear that it only could be a partwise fullfilling.
The pentecostal movememt claims Joel 2 for themselves.
But I cant see that Joel 2 is fullfilled till today.
Why you are mentioning prophecie? The thread is talking about preaching/teaching.

You ever drove with a ship? This ship had 1 ore 2 captains? Poor crew which should follow 2 captains. In a marriage you cant have 2 captains. What the bible says is clear, maby you should also quote this verses to have a full picture. Of course a wise captain would listen to the 1. Officer, but the responsibility he has to bear, so also in a marriage. I dont see a marriage as a master- servant relationship, in the case you think I do so. I love my wife!

Honestly wolfwint, you can quite easily find a church where there are plenty of men and women who think exactly like you do on the matter. Go there and you'll be happy and comfortable.
I and most people will in fact that do that. We simply won't attend a church that has a woman pastor. Even though pastors are pretty well stripped of the authority they once had in the church most people still sense how unfitting it is for women to lead men. By nature it's just not their calling.

As for men and women who understand their freedom AND don't try to take it from any man or woman, they have a harder time finding their group.
Which makes this a very small issue. Besides the fact most people won't sit under a woman pastor, not many churches have a woman as the pastor for this to be a big concern.

Some just know in themselves that it is ridiculous to say (TO THEM) that women may teach, talk, preach and do all missions work at any and all times EXCEPT for when they gather together with other believers. These people WANT to hear from EVERYONE what God has given to them to share.

IF they happen to come into your gathering, they will not argue with you or try to browbeat you into any of the spirit of the word. They'll love you and respect you and then quietly go their way in their freedom in Christ.
Just don't install them as pastor and we're good.

How about the story of the lost (prodigal) son? The father humbled himself to run up the road to meet his son and then fell on his son's neck and cried. Then, even though the son was saying how sorry he was, the father didn't even acknowledge his son's sin and had a robe put on him and commanded the servants to throw a big celebration for his son. The father submitted to loving his son rather than rebuking him.
No comparison to the statement that Fathers are to submit to their children......the statement was made in light of a context that does not support the conclusion and there are NO verses that state a FATHER is to submit to the SON.....

The reason I believe what the scriptures say that a woman is not to have authority over a man is because the reason given is not cultural, nor is it something out of Paul's opinion, and it was written AFTER the so-called end of the sexes in Christ. It is based in the nature of things:

"I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. 13For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve."-1 Timothy 2:12-13

Forget all the cultural and personal reasons used to defend woman in authority in the church. It's the God ordained nature of things, people. Just accept it and stop bucking against what God has instituted by nature.

The second happiest woman in the whole world is the one who trusts God to have the man in authority in the circumstances of her life, and who shows it by actually submitting to that authority without contempt or resentment or rebellion.

The first happiest woman in the whole world is the woman who does that, and the man in authority over her lavishes his love and respect on her (fitting to the situation, of course). Despite what some may say, chivalry is not dead.

God is specific in his use of words.....I simply asked to see verses in context that states clearly that Father's are to submit to their children.

If this is the case then there will be verses in context that states this clearly......

Honor is a two way street .As the father submits the Son in mutual submission to one another the Son submits to the father. One has a greater position it does not make him any greater person. Jesus says the father and I are one.

Perhaps the verse below is what the article was referring to as unity of the body.

Mal 4:6 And he shall turn the heart of the "fathers to the children", and the heart of "the children to their fathers", lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

To turn is to submit

In submission to God it would seem Christ came to work out a mutual submission to the word of God .As God turns the fathers to submit to the needs and not wants of their children he turns the heart of the children to submit to the fathers, as a God who works in both to will and do His good pleasure.
I see a lot of tap dancing around the subject and verses that do not say FATHERS SUBMIT TO YOUR CHILDREN being yanked to try and prove a point that does NOT FIT THE CONTEXT OF WHAT WAS SAID in the original quote that I referenced.

It is love and serving that shows who is in any place of authority over me. Love brings that authority that I submit to. Authority does not bring love.

You got it, sis. I won't touch a church with a woman pastor. No problem here.

I figure if the woman and her congregation can't discern and heed the plain words of scripture about this, then that's not a church I'm going to learn anything in or meet God in. It's really that simple.

Before my personal ban on churches with woman pastors, I attended a particular one where the husband followed her around on the stage during the service like a little puppy. It was so unfitting. Nobody, men and women alike, likes milk toast men except women who don't want to be submissive to men and do not want to be under their authority. By nature everybody cringes at the site of seeing a man under the marching orders of a woman....except the woman who wants to give those marching orders, of course. I just go back to the reason Paul gave for why woman are not to be in authority over men. It's the nature of things. God designed it that way.

Woman have to understand the desire to lead men and not be under authority is a desire of the flesh, and just like any other desire of the flesh it must die to Christ. We all have desires specific to our sexes that we have to struggle with. For the woman they have the special and particular struggle with submitting to the authority of a man. Us men have our own desires that we also have to die to and not try to find a way to justify through a creative interpretation of scripture that, in the end, makes the plain words of scripture not mean what they so plainly say, and inapplicable to us.

when I was younger...way younger actually and a bit of an upstart (insert laughter from husband here as he would say I still am but he married me so...) anyway...

we had a youth group up at the country house and the 'speaker' decided to focus on women put a zipper on it and act as dumb as you can, so he quit reading the passage and quit just before men are told to love your wives with sacrificial love (like Christ) and I put my hand up and he (regretted it deeply) said 'yes?' and I said 'what about the next verse about men loving your wives?'

now I didn't know this would happen, but don't all the females go 'yeah! what about that?' and almost in unison...funniest moment of the day...well he stumbled and bumbled and there went his 'sermon'

dunno...but I suspect some men just don't want women doing it better than they do

don't care either way...I'll take the truth before prejudice any day and I have no desire to be a pastor or fight over it

if a woman speaks the truth from scripture and a man just speaks on what he picks and chooses to suit himself, what is that called exactly?

besides hypocrisy

It is love and serving that shows who is in any place of authority over me. Love brings that authority that I submit to. Authority does not bring love.
I know exactly what you're saying. You only want to submit to the man you want to. And you're justifying it with the argument that they have to love me first and deserve my submission. I understand perfectly what you're saying. That reasoning comes from the flesh, not the Spirit.

I don't desire to lead men, so...not sure who you're talking to here.
I don't desire to lead women either.
My desire isn't to control anyone - men or women.
My desire is to submit to both my brothers and my sisters in love.

well that's just ridiculous

reminds me of the story of Jezebel and Ahab

why was the entire church dominated by her?

I could say why, but then we have a whole other thing going on and half the people here would not believe it anyway
