Shortest distance between two points is a straight line. The North Star - Polaris is directly above the North Pole, it does not move, and neither does the Earth, that is why the North Star does not move, it is stationary, because it does not move, in relation to the Earth, which does not move, derived from the geometrical law that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. All stars move except the Polaris located at the apex of the known universe. Navigation is made possible this way because there are two known stationary points, i.e. Earth's North Pole and North Star.
