Is it a sin to not be baptized, once you are saved?

On the contrary, it may be a sin if we knowingly misrepresent what it truly is.

If you get baptized you don't ever have to have doubts about it again.

And if we know mystery doctrine..............we are baptized the moment we are saved. Water baptism just symbolizes or witnesses the true baptism of the Spirit.

A simple answer is no. I think it's a good idea, but not required.

Notice in Scripture that John the Baptist baptized many but later on in life he had doubts about Christ. Also Peter says it is an answer of a good conscience towards God and it isn't the a symbol of putting away of the flesh. I don't think people should expect to be perfect immediately after baptism.

I'm happy to clear this up, it was on my mind, as I'm saved, but have yet to be baptized, since giving my life to God.

Jesus was baptised (immersed) by John before he began His ministry. He set the example of what we are to do before we began our Christian walk.
It is the first act of faith after you have been born again (saved).

Water baptism is also a symbol of your old man being crucified with Christ and that you were raised with new life just like Christ. You will be blessed when you find out that you died with Christ on the cross..and that you were raised up with Him ....ask the Lord to reveal these truths to you and when you get water baptized...you will be greatly blessed.

Who you are now in Christ...the new creation is paramount in understanding this battle in life and to have a form foundation in Him..Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:3-9 (NASB)
[SUP]3 [/SUP] Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death?
[SUP]4 [/SUP] Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
[SUP]5 [/SUP] For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection,
[SUP]6 [/SUP] knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;
[SUP]7 [/SUP] for he who has died is freed from sin.
[SUP]8 [/SUP] Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,
[SUP]9 [/SUP] knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him.

I'm happy to clear this up, it was on my mind, as I'm saved, but have yet to be baptized, since giving my life to God.

The better question would be to ask, why not? For what reason would you not get baptized, considering it was a command given (by Jesus to make disciples)? :p Isn't it known as like our first act of obedience? Surely it doesn't save, but it is a recognition of you dying with Christ and rising into new life (symbolic representation).

The old man dying/being crucified (sin has no power over the dead) and being made a new creation (rising up into newness of life). Hence the reason the Apostle Paul said to reckon yourself dead to sin and alive unto God. I'll post some verses...

Colossians 2:12 King James Version (KJV)

12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

Romans 6:4 King James Version (KJV)

4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Romans 6:11 King James Version (KJV)

11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Acts 8:35-37 King James Version (KJV)

35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Baptism was actually a very important practice in the early church. It is mentioned frequently in the book of Acts.

It is written that Jesus said he would build his church on Peter; and though it doesn't say so explicitly, Peter may have been given the authority to loosen people from their sins through water baptism.

And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overpower it! I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you release on earth will be released in heaven.” Matthew 16:18-19

On the day of Pentecost, he exercised this authority to authorize the forgiveness of Israel's sins through water baptism in Christ's name.

And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38

So those who accepted his message were baptized, and on that day about three thousand souls were added. Acts 2:41

From that point on, many people in the church baptized others in Christ's name for the forgiveness of sins. Peter opened the door, but it was not his authority to exercise exclusively.

Then as head of the church on earth, he was sent to the gentiles to open the door of salvation to them. Again, he authorized that they be baptized in the name of Jesus for forgiveness of sins.

Surely no one can withhold the water for these [people] to be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit as we also did!” So he ordered [that] they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay for several days. Acts 10:47-48

It is up to you. But I would wait to be water baptized to have the true meaning solid in your head, give it some time and study. And you can have the stage in your water baptism to truly witness your wonderful experience of salvation to many.

I was water baptized and had no clue what was going on..............it was just the thing to do. I just might do it again, because I did have the opportunity to tell my story and witness. I just didn't know what the heck was going on!

The church was NOT on Peter. Peter was an apostle and was used greatly by God. He became the leader of Jesus church after His resurection. But Peter was weak often failed in his walk. Jesus would never build His church on a man.

Jesus built HIS church upon Himself. He is the Christ.

Peter didn't tell the men of Israel and Judah on the day of Pentecost to wait and study. Nor was anyone in the book of Acts told that. It's not a mystical experience; it's an avowal of faith.

Peter was given the authority to open the door of salvation to both Israel and the gentiles.

It is because you don't understand that H2O or being dunked in a tank of water is not the actual teaching and you don't understand mystery doctrine and the transition from the old to the new.. It is a teaching aid for the Church to reveal the MYSTERY of the baptism of the Spirit.

AnneNoel you are going to get do and don'ts from some. And you are going to get freedom in Christ from others...............I hope you grasp and hold to the freedom in Christ and your eternal salvation in Christ.

It is painful to watch, but we all get to make our choices.
