I'm thinking about possibly going to college for Apologetics. I know there's a lot of work to be done before that but can anyone suggest any good courses or reading material?

True but people like the New Atheists will question everything in the Bible and aren't satisfied with the word. So you have to talk in their language and defend it. Some people just need it spelled out for them.

You can only defend the Word with the Word.
If you use anything else they will eat you alive.

This wont be the best answer : p But Id listen to people who actually do this everyday.

I often do with Christians who stand for the word against Islam, I really like people like David Wood and Nabeel Qureshi and others, they have a youtube page called Acts 17 Apologetics. Ive really learned alot from them, how to defend Gods word, which verses you need to know to answer questions. I dont have any books I can lead you to : p But I really like what these guys are doing, and I think you could learn a little from them, if you are interested in checking them out : p

Well one question im anticipating and I use to ask this question myself but how does one from a biblical stand point explain fossils and fossil records. I know the answer is the devil can do many things to deceive you, but that answers likely to get me laughed at. Unless you know a better argument and I'm sure there is one on the case.

Apologetics are important. Scripture is always our authority, and the study and use of apologetic defenses always use scripture as authority. There is also nothing wrong with knowing our history and understanding other world-views. We are told always be ready to give an answer.

Ravi Zacharias and his itinerant speakers are good.

C.S Lewis literature, of course.

Maybe debates? If that sort of thing interests you. William Lane Craig is a known Christian apologist and debater. Frank Turek is another name that comes to mind.

And ah theres a Christian fiction writer, he mostly does horror stories, he lives in Cleveland, grew up with a neck deformation. Does anyone know who Im talking about? He had some amazing insights in a book of his a friend showed me once, too. Id like to share him with you, if only I could remember his name > : /

People with agendas will come up with all kinds of bizarre explanations to defend their point to the point where their explanations sound more crazy than the point they are debating against.

Someone here told me the other day that debating is less effective for the debaters but highly effectual for the onlookers. I would tend to agree.
