If most Christians believe something, does that make it true?

I'm reminded of the argumentum ad populum fallacy. I would say "no," and that this would also apply to any prevailing wisdom or generally accepted fundamental.

First, to be clear, those not born again are not Christians. Those of the Spirit? Yes, according to the Bible teaching that the Holy Spirit leads into all truth, and testifying that it's my experience that all those I've known who are of the Spirit, those of nothing but truth, believe all basic doctrines the Bible teaches. There are difficult eschatological matters we seek a most plausible Bible accounting for, but you'll readily find any true scholar admit that their view is their view, and why, and these not basic doctrines, like eternal security, the deity of the Lord Jesus, etc.

Contrary to what some people say about divisions, yes, there are a lot of divisions, Christians versus also-ran fabrications, religions and doctrines of men and demons (who also scratch each others' eyes out), but I've been awed how there is an entire community of agreement on all the major issues, who also see the unity and harmony of the entire Bible. I seldom say anything, but anytime I've been accused of being confused or such, irony is that I'm not at all confused, at perfect peace with everything the Lord and His servants, my betters, have faithfully taught me, neither have once seen a scintilla of reason to turn from truths that are even violently protested by evil men, only showing that where there's smoke, there's fire, of a truth the lady doth protest too much. You could say that, so very simply, a Christian understands the Bible, and believes the Bible, thanks and glory to the Spirit of Christ, and one verse never actually contradicts another.

Almighty God is quite certain, clear and consistent, altogether perfect. You have to look to man to muck something like this up.

A pretty small minority are based on Scriptures. Most are "Traditions of Men."

Uhhhh......NO!!...But, by mutual consent, er general consensus?.....It does cause them to "feel" Normal. And, everyone knows, christians, especially, these days....check that......From about 325 A.D. onwards (for the N.T., anyway) desire so much to be accepted......er "normal". That which is true, er truth, gets tossed, when it comes to any given society er culture.

(sorry.had to correct a mis-spelling)

It pleases me that people are willing to answer this question, "No."

Absolutely not.
There is definite power in unity! Even the society of Babylon under Nimrod experienced a worldwide unity against God and they walked with power... but not with God. This is why God confused their languages and scattered the people across the world.

HOWEVER, just because millions of people believe in something, doesn't mean it's correct.
To quote a speaker I've heard before, 1 billion people can be earnest about what they believe, but they can be earnestly wrong. In the eyes of God, consensus means nothing if it's not in His 100% absolute truth. Christianity is not a democracy. This is why God exhorts us through His word to seek what is pleasing to... Him (not us). With the warning against lukewarm doctrines entering the church and false teachers both rising from within and coming from outside, we need to be looking at anything we believe and comparing it to Scripture. Oftentimes, we'll find that our vaunted and cherished traditions developed by denomination or teachers over decades to centuries to millennium may in fact have no basis in scripture or even contradict scripture. The real question is... do we follow what men say, even compromising truth for the sake of unity? Or do we follow what God says?

No. In fact, leaven, as our Lord warned us, is insidious. And we have an example for us in Israel. We have pretty much followed their course.

Most/many Christians believe in an old earth or evolution, but that doesn't make it true.

No, especially in these last hours. Note the scriptures:

2 Timothy 4:3-4 (NASB)
[SUP]3 [/SUP]For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, [SUP]4 [/SUP]and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 (KJV)
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; [SUP]4 [/SUP]Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Hebrews 6:4-6 (KJV)
[SUP]4 [/SUP]For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, [SUP]5 [/SUP]And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, [SUP]6 [/SUP]If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

In the last days (hours) the "majority" of christians will be in unity, along with the RCC, Muslims, & others that believe that God will save everybody, no matter what. The judgement for their unbelief will be the worst the world has ever seen.

I was thinking that there are some things that not just most, but all Christians believe, or they are not Christians.

Things like the deity of Christ, the Trinity, the Resurrection are essentials. And if people don't believe in them, well, then they are not "some" Christians but rather "not" Christians.

Your question is so vague. I think that we need more information. :) Are you talking about doctrines, traditions of the church or practices and actions of most Christians? There are too many unknown variables.

Why not? Are they not entitled to their own personal interpretation based on their own experience?
They certainly are. But you, yourself, have said that the way YOU think is how others have to think also because you said you are "Holy Spirit right" and any other positions obviously aren't from that spirit.

Well, "most" Americans voted for Obama.... twice. That, alone, should answer your question.

No it does not, and actually the bible shows in the Word of God that the closer and closer we get to the Lord's return being in the majority is not going to be a good thing.

So just look around and see what doctrines the majority of believers are following right now, and you can start to see the dangers open up in front of your eyes !!!

For I believe by what the Holy Spirit has lead me in, that we are in the great falling away of 2 Thessalonians 2:3 now days !!!

I still think that if this is a real question that we need more information. My first thought went to the Nicene Creed or the Westminster Confessions of Faith. If that's the root of the question, then perhaps the answer is yes?

Still… too many missing variables.
