I am new here and was wondering if the folks here know what the Gospel is. What is you version of the Gospel? We are told to preach the Gospel to the ends of the Earth. But, what is the Gospel?

Specifically, Jesus called it the "Good News" of the coming of God's kingdom to mankind. For us today, it also is the fact that we are included (or CAN be) because of Christ's sacrifice.

This book gives a very good description of the gospel:

It is called What is the Gospel? by Greg Gilbert.

In addition, I recommend the book Explicit Gospel by Matt Chandler.

Here's a good playlist about the gospel additionally:

We are blessed to have 2 word for word examples of the real gospel of the grace of Christ being preached in Acts. One by Peter and the other by Paul. I think when you read these accounts you will see that it is different then many of our so-called modern ways of preaching the gospel and that it has morphed over the years.....lot's of religious tradition going on....of course some of us will never allow scripture to get in the way of what we believe or what we were taught to believe.

Peter preached the gospel of the grace of Christ to Cornelius ..

Acts 10:34-48 "verses 43-44 are the kicker"

Also Peter talks about it when he had to defend what he did to the other Christians in Acts 11:1-18..."verses 17-18 are the kicker"

Paul preached the gospel of grace here in the only recorded time in scripture.

This time it was in a Jewish synagogue Act 13:15-41 "Verse 38 is the kicker"

God is perfect and demands all of his creation to keep his commands. When someone doesn't, there is just punishment. The punishment is separation from God, death, and eternal hell. It is just punishment for any law broken.

God is also loving and merciful, so one of his laws includes that a third party can take on the punishment of the guilty party, if that third party has never broken that law.

The third-party's name is Jesus the Christ -- the Redeemer. He is also God. He never broke any law so he took on the punishment for whosoever will believe. Trust his sacrifice and we are free from our guilt, restored back to God the King of Kings and Creator of the universe, and get life eternal to worship him, instead of what we deserve.

I had the same problem some 30 years ago, when I was converted. According to our pastors our church was "right" and all the others were "quite wrong". Issues like wearing a veil or body position for prayer were more important than love.

The essentials of Christianity are easy to understand: Love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself; be humble; be forgiving of others; do not judge; pray intensively; help those who are in need; be honest; be faithful to your spouse; and believe that no matter how holly you may be, you need Christ to be saved.

We must strive to obey the basic points of Christian doctrine before we start discussing side issues. If all church leaders did that, there wouldn’t be so many different “gospels” today.

Some people believed that it means the "Good News"; maybe or maybe not. Like in this verse, that it is stating how great is those that brings in the good news about God has giving us the opportunity to enter this Sabbath and which Adam and Eve never had reached it because of their disobedience; but at the time in anger, God had sworn with and oath that no one shall enter it; but now, God has given us second chance. The other Sabbath that they were practicing, weren't His Sabbath, but God had them to rehearsed of how it were to be if they would of have obeyed, to make sure that they doesn't forget how it could of have had been for them. The old covenant were made for them to have a kingdom of their own that everything has been done by the physical nature, except for, that there were times that God had to intervened; but most of the times, it was done by their nature; but if everything were to be done by the spirit of God, then there wouldn't have been any limitations, that they wouldn't of have to kill in order to cleanse the earth or to survive; all they would of have to do is to asked. And in Revelation, it says about the wedding of the bride, which the bride represent our realm, that God's spirit is going to be apart of this realm that it never had been before. In the beginning, He was preparing this realm so that He can reside with it, but the day that He had came to merge, Adam and Eve hid themselves from Him.

Romans 10:15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

Hebrews 4:6 Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their

But that is good news, but that is not what the gospel means. Jesus had said that He had come into the world to bring in the Truth, and which even Pilate' did not know at the time. If we know the truth that it will set us free and which that is good news as well. Everyone at the time had this image of God as being a tyrant, but Jesus has came to tell them the truth about the word which the devil has twisted it up; That is why Jesus had to enlightened them, the books that they has read for centuries, that they had known by heart, to change their perception. And so this gospel, the true gospel of the kingdom must be spread throughout the world.

Short, Clear and Concise...

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJVS
[1] Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; [2] By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. [3] For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; [4] And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

The gospel is the "good news" of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) and is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that BELIEVES.. (Romans 1:16).

To Abraham, the Gospel (lit. Good News) came with a different promise.

Galatians 3:6-9 KJVS
[6] Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. [7] Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. [8] And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying , In thee shall all nations be blessed. [9] So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

Only one Gospel and it has NOTHING to do with our performance.
It is what Christ has done on our behalf.

The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the good news of how that saves us if we spiritually do the same. We die to our old sinful self, bury our old sinful self in the watery grave of baptism, and are raised alive with the Holy Spirit- Who marks us for heaven.

"With flames of fire He will take vengeance on those who know not God, and who obey not the gospel of His Son Jesus Christ."

Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Matthew 26:13 Truly I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.”

John 20:30 Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Exodus 32:33 The Lord replied to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against me I will blot out of my book.

Revelation 21:27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

It's not about what the gospel is but Who the gospel points you too. Without the Holy Spirit to change your heart and mind, the gospel is just words.

But Christ tells use to be a light into the world, leading people back to God and His truth and His ways.

God tells us to speak and allow living water to flow and heal the broken hearted and down trodden.

God gives us a Spirit of love, truth and power to overcome fears and lies of the world, to see past the bondage of sin, pride, selfishness, anger, and greed.

He calls us to love others as He has shown us love and forgiveness.

He gives us unwarranted grace and tells us to give others the same.

The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the good news of how that saves us if we spiritually do the same.
Again, the gospel is the "good news" of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) and is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that BELIEVES.. (Romans 1:16).

The gospel is not a set of rituals to perform, a code of laws to be obeyed or a check list of good works to accomplish (including water baptism) as a prerequisite for salvation. The gospel simply sets forth Christ crucified, buried and risen as the Savior of all who BELIEVE (trust) in His finished work of redemption as the ALL-sufficient means of their salvation.

We die to our old sinful self, bury our old sinful self in the watery grave of baptism, and are raised alive with the Holy Spirit- Who marks us for heaven.
Spirit baptism is the reality and water baptism is the picture of the reality. Water baptism is the public proclamation of one's inward spiritual transformation and relation to Christ attained before the baptism. A symbol is not the reality, but the picture of the reality.

"With flames of fire He will take vengeance on those who know not God, and who obey not the gospel of His Son Jesus Christ."
The gospel is not "water baptized or condemned." Don't be deceived by the church of Christ. We obey the gospel by choosing to believe the gospel. Romans 10:16 - But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our report?" Those who refuse to BELIEVE the gospel have not obeyed the gospel.

(I am mine no more, I am mine no more, I've been bought with Blood, I am mine no more.)
Those who truly BELIEVE the gospel can certainly say this (Romans 1:16; 3:24-26). Praise God! :)

I was taught that the Gospel is the teachings in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John - the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
