Can true Christians be sinless? Can true Christians be carnal?
There are some who believe we can be sinless in our bodies. Most would disagree with this. We can be sinless at times and carnal at times. We are being regenerated and sanctified throughout our lives. We stumble, we fall, God picks up us, corrects us like a loving Father, and puts us back on the straight and narrow.

1 John 1
[SUP]8 [/SUP]If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. [SUP]9 [/SUP]If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. [SUP]10 [/SUP]If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Positionally,we are saved In the spirit and sealed. The bible says those born of GOD cannot sin.We were made perfect In the spirit.

When It comes to Conditional sanctification,we sin all the time because our bodies have not been glorified yet and we are In the process of renewing our minds.

This is what believers in the grace of our Lord Jesus have to say about "sanctification"..the word itself means = "to be set apart"

We are perfectly sanctified in Christ now....very true....we as an identity the new creation in Christ will never be more holy....however there is a "sanctifying" of our behavior that is on-going that reflects our true nature in Christ...so in essence...we are becoming outwardly who we really are in our inner man which is in Christ.

God sets apart ( sanctifies ) our attitudes and actions outwardly but you are 100% set apart ( sanctified ) as a person..the real you in your inner man..the new creation in Christ.

Hebrews 10:14 (NASB)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. ( this is present passive..passive is that something is being done to you ...the Spirit of the Lord in us changing us. )

Here is what Jesus told Paul on the road to Damascus....having been sanctified ( perfect passive )..= done deal

Acts 26:17-18 (NASB)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] rescuing you from the Jewish people and from the Gentiles, to whom I am sending you,
[SUP]18 [/SUP] to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.' ( perfect passive )

Sanctification to our "religious minds" could mean a lot of different things to different people as it depends on the religious beliefs formulated from our backgrounds....like no doing the "biggie sine"...or depending on traditions it could be..no smoking..no drinking..no going to church..no reading your bible every day..no praying for an hour each day.....no going to a movie...reading a newspaper...no being a servant of God...the D.I.Y. self-righteous/holiness mindset says no doing "what I don't do.."..,,etc

We are definitely to show outwardly what we are in our new creation in Christ. We do not do "holy" things to become holy. We do not do righteous deeds to become righteous. Doing these good deeds or actions are simply a "fruit" of our union with Christ.

As Peter says..

1 Peter 1:14-16 (NASB)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance,
[SUP]15 [/SUP] but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior;
[SUP]16 [/SUP] because it is written, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY."

This is why we need to hear the gospel of the grace of Christ everyday so that we "become outwardly who we already are in Christ now"

it depends on your interpretation of carnal.. I think differing churches hold to a differing view.. so we may give differing answers yet agree,

I know. makes no sense at all. But satan wants it that way..

would not be so bad, but the T-Bone is always against the Bologna. No matter what he says, T-Bone says he is wrong, and vice Bologna feels the same way about T-Bone..

To answer your first question:

You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Matt 5:48 RSV
To answer your second question (and I think Jesus was only referring to adulterous lust):

But I say to you that every one who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Matt 5:28 RSV

Since Christ told us to stop sinning, yes, we can be sinless. That is unless you don't believe Christ or you're looking for an excuse to give in to lust.
Since everyone that is mortal is carnal, then yes, we are carnal. The goal is to not be carnal minded.
If one would read the bible one would find these answers just like I have. :)

NO and YES. Even christians are, and do, sinful things. Most repent of their sin, others continue on in it. Can christians be carnal? Yes, because our hearts and flesh want things of the world, and sometimes not so much of God. We lust after what we cannot have, be it a sweet car, a hot guy, a sexy girl, or even simple things like someone else's pizza.

Sorry, LostSheep. :p

I'm sorry I didn't mean to come on the bible discussion forum and attempt to have a discussion on a bible topic.of course I read and learn many things from my bible. Some comments seem a little rude for a christian to be slinging... The fruits of the spirit are what??

Galatians 5:22-23: For the fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.. :)

So you consider encouraging someone to read the bible to be "slinging"?
This forum is for bible discussion. To intelligently discuss a topic you need to have a basic understanding of it.
So, I'll "sling" some more and even more strongly encourage you to read the book. It's a great book, spend some time with it.
