5 Bibles. All KJV.

1 is the Gideon's Bible I was given while behind bars. It sat on my tiny bookshelf and never got read.

1 is a KJV Foundation Study Bible. This is the one I felt led by the Spirit to buy in December.

2 of my Bibles are Westminster Reference Bibles. One hardcover, the other lambskin.

1 is a leather-covered Thomas Nelson red-letter Bible.

I have pretty much all of them because I do evangelism, apologetics, preaching, etc. I run into people who use other Bibles.

There are a few Bibles that no one knows about that I don't have because some of the translators on different translation committees made their own translations and it is very hard to get them today because no one cares enough about Bibles for there to be a market for them.

I use the King James because it is the only translation that had a revival which the reformation came out of and no one really uses the Geneva Bible today. The King James is a near literal Bible. It is really the only translation that I will trust and it is free to use unless you live in Britain.

The NIV is really a thought for thought translation.

The NASB is basically a post-tribulation translation which is why I don't use it but I have one.

I use the New Testament by Dr. Kenneth Weust who was a NASB translator.

I can also use the Amplified Bible which is wordy and helps people understand.

I own a Thompson Chain Reference Bible and a Key Word Study Bible by Spiros Zodhiates. My Key Word Study Bible also has an extensive dictionary in the back but it isn't complete.

I also carry a Kindle tablet to church. They have free wifi and I use Blueletterbible which lets me look up definitions and I can also use biblehub which offers me lots of translations and also commentaries.

I think the important thing is that you read your Bible and follow your Bible. Let's not lose sight of that.

I have an:

NRSV Study Bible
NET Full Notes Bible
NIV Journaling Bible (just received it from a friend today)
NLT Life Application Bible
The Message.

I plan on getting the HCSB Apologetics Bible and the ESV Study Bible in the next few years. I did have a CEV Bible from my teenage years, but I gave it to a friend who was a new Christian. She much preferred it to her Greek Orthodox hard-to-read-especially-for-a-Punjabi Bible. Now she's really growing in her faith. God is good!

Do you folks mark up your Bibles? Are you doing something like inductive Bible study and highlighting, underlining, etc.? I'm just curious. I have a set of the gel highlighters, but I just can't bring myself to be marking up a Bible. Putting the adhesive tabs at the beginning of each of the 66 books so I can find them quickly was nerve-wracking enough for me. Is that weird?

I use to write in the margins but some of these study Bibles take up all of the available space.
I gave that up for writing my own articles and Bible studies as I do research.

Your saved and don't even know it.............Brother.

And don't think I am nuts. More than half on this site think salvation can be lost or they are working for their "later" salvation.

I will see you in the eternal state brother.

No, I totally understand your apprehension. I mean, it's the Word on the page that's special and holy, but I still have an aversion to marking any book, let alone The Good Book.

I'd say I'll buy you a beer, but that might be difficult. I'll see you when we get there.

I had forgotten about the Gideon's Bible. It's so unused that the spine still creaks when you open it. I remember when I took it as it was offered thinking that I'd have all the time in the world to read it, but a couple days later I went to solitary and by the time I got out and back to my regular cell, I didn't care to read it.

I've got the 1984 edition.. It's entitled Life in the Spirit... I think I like it for all the commentaries.... The one thing it has is it shows "all the verses and words" below the chapter that are in the KJV

I have no issue with dog-earing a page in a novel, but I just don't like marking up books. School text books - yeah, I mark those up like crazy, but I can't mark up my Bibles.
