Scripture tells us ' Guard your heart with all diligence, as from it flows the issues of life.'
We should guard our heart from what we see and hear. For example, guard your heart from the sex and violence on television and also from hurtful things said to us.

2Pe 2:7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
2Pe 2:8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds).

How is it that you fail to understand that I did not speak about bread? Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees."
Then they understood that he did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
(Mat 16:11-12)

This would include the leaven of Hollywood, politicians and fat cats.

There are at least 4 leavens ( 5 if we separate the Pharisees and Sadducees out ) talked about in the N. T. scriptures. ( maybe more? )

1) Beware of the doctrine/teachings ( leaven ) of the Pharisees and Sadducees Matt: 16:12 ( Here is a thread that has many good links to the Pharisees and Sadducees http://christianchat.com/bible-discussion-forum/133906-pharisees.html )

2) Beware of the leaven of Herod - which is the system of the world - Mark 8:15

3) There is the leaven of malice and wickedness ( You see this in CC with some people as in the churches as well ) - 1 Cor 5:8

4) Then there is the leaven of the Galatians which is relying on law-keeping works and self-effort in the flesh to grow in Christ instead of relying on the Spirit of God within us. - Gal 5:1-9 ( really most of the book of Galatians is dealing with this subject )

Galatians 3:3 (NASB)
[SUP]3 [/SUP] Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?

You are welcome...there was a thread about this and guarding what you see. I started it and called it un-christian porn. ( no..there is no such thing as Christian porn - it was about to guard what you see with your eyes here on CC ).....which when you read the thread - you will see the reason for it become quite clear...:)...guard your heart!

best way to guard your heart?

look to the ONE who keeps your heart

we are transformed as we look to our Savior

negatives? they abound!

2Pe 2:7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
2Pe 2:8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds).
This "vexing his righteous soul from day to day", needs to be explained a little more better, methinks. It's kinda like some "cloning process", that the enemies of the Kingdom of God use, in their perpetuating themselves into, and eventually through a person, using (usually, but not always), oppression, as its Modus Operendi, in its delivery. The objective is fairly simple. To render Children of God useless in spiritual warfare against them. It can manifest itself in the flesh, in a myriad of ways. Something as simple as a ringing in one's ear/s, a "twitch" in a muscle, a "spasm" in one's neck (stiff-necked), a mocking, or scoffing (hard-heartedness) of something/someone, a headache (migraine, and, or, sinus)....like I said: A myriad of physical manifestations.

This is all stuff written about in the Bible, but, it's not until one tries in the bringing all thoughts, etc. to Christ, that one can even begin to bring oneself unto repentance. And, this is a lot of what the apostle Paul was trying to convey. YOU, can do these things too! If ya cut me with a knife? I'll bleed! If ya shoot me with a gun in the heart, or a vital organ? I'll die! ALWAYS striving to tell/teach others: "HEY!!, I'm not so special!! YOU, can do these things, SAME as I am able to!!" SAME as Jesus said, when He kept admonishing: "YE, of little faith!"

By the way,the first step of protection the next, Just ask the Lord to teach you to hate it.When you hate it, you have to stop to watch it, and you have no curiosity on this way. After that you can talk about His protection.
