Some make the mistake of thinking of God's Word as being only about religion, and not to be weighed against scientific knowledge. Thinking that has nothing to do with the truth though.

If God's Word is The Truth, then It will include subjects that account for even scientific truth in this world, and it does have examples of doing exactly that:

1. Job 26:77 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
KJV

Early man thought just about everything and anything was holding up this earth (even false gods like Atlas). Even when God's Word revealed the earth suspended in space (because of God's laws of gravity we now know), man was ignorant of that scientific fact until centuries after this was written in Job 26.

2. Lev 15:13
13 And when he that hath an issue is cleansed of his issue; then he shall number to himself seven days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in running water, and shall be clean.
KJV

Doctors in mid-evil times kept noticing how their patients in the same ward kept developing the same diseases. Even though God commanded Israel long ago to wash under "running water" for cleanliness, those mid-evil doctors were instead washing their hands in the same bowl of dirty water, thus passing the diseases in the ward from patient to patient. Did someone eventually remind them to use running water from this Leviticus 15 example? What do you think?

3. Deut 23:12-13
12 Thou shalt have a place also without the camp, whither thou shalt go forth abroad:
13 And thou shalt have a paddle upon thy weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee:
KJV

Up until WWI, there were many soldiers that died of various diseases because of uncleanliness within the camp, not isolating their waste with the use of latrines nor burying it. With old Israel's military camp, God told them to pick a place outside the camp where they would use the bathroom and isolate human waste outside the camp and bury it for health reasons. It took up to the time of WWI for people to figure that out. Do you think someone showed them that from God's Word?

4. Heb 1:10-12
10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
KJV

Per also Genesis 1:1, the universe had a beginning per God's Word. Modern science has confirmed this using Einstein's studies in the early 1900's. Science has thus proven God's Word correct on that.

5.
Isa 40:22
22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
KJV

In mid-evil times, even the Church leaders thought the earth was flat. Copernicus's theories of the earth being a sphere revolving around the sun was held as a heretical view, and those pushing it were severely punished. Yet there it was all the time in God's Word, with "the circle of the earth" (Hebrew chuwg, which means compass or circle), showing the earth being a sphere and not flat.

6. Eccl 1:66 The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits.
KJV

Prior to WWII, man thought the wind blew straight. During WWII, airmen learned about the existence of the Jet Stream and its paths, confirming this passage by Solomon in Eccl.1:6.

7. Lev 23:22
22 And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger: I am the LORD your God.
KJV

With farming, it's wise to not cut the borders ("corners") of your crop fields, since it will cut down on soil erosion by the wind. Today, billions of tons of soil is lost from U.S. fields because they still haven't learned this from God's Word.

These are just a few of the things in God's Word which involve science. Afterall, God's Word is The Truth and not just a Book on religion or poetry.

Reminds me of the real historical science behind Jesus' life, death and resurrection.

Many will say along the lines of.. 'I just believe' or 'Just have faith', but Jesus has some real solid evidence of his footprints left when He was here on earth. Real history

* Most historians worth their salt agree Jesus really lived (including secular ones)
* Most historians worth their salt also agree Jesus was crucified
* It is also an historical fact the tomb is empty
* Most historians agree that the early christian community at the time claimed to see Jesus alive after death.

Not all historians will call the reason for the empty tomb as resurrection.. but the strong evidence for the above aforementioned things is equally strong for Jesus' resurrection.

Eg. .. Some claimed in the past that Jesus only 'swooned' on the cross.. and later revived in the cool of the tomb. This theory bit the dust because no one is going to follow a half-dead, mostly sick, bloodied person and say they are risen from the grave.

Aside from this .. the grave clothes would have been used in such a way to constrict any breathing.. wrapped tightly around the body.. this would have taken any life left --out of Jesus.

And then there is the problem of supposing he did manage to revive in the tomb.. previously being beaten to near death.. and then somehow managing to stay alive after being wrapped in tight linen..

He would then have to roll away the stone!

And then -- really getting into the improbable now--- if somehow he did manage to roll away the stone..

He would have had the guards to contend with!

And then-- even more improbable.. he somehow gets past the guards (or maybe they weren't there)..

We come to a previous problem of a half-dead man.. bloodied.. sickly.. broken bones..coming to the disciples.. and they are supposed to claim the Messiah is risen?

So.. our faith isn't just built on blind faith.. but there is real evidence behind it.

Amen.

Such as demonstrated in Matthew 14:29-31, "And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus."

But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?"

Since it doesn't take any great faith to walk on water then all I can say to those who can't is talk to the hand.
