The question arises. Is it just entertainment? or is it something that can harm us?
Our battle is spiritual, never physical. We are exhorted to obey God through faith. So when we are told to not practice as the gentiles do... to put away our former conduct and walk forward in Christ, is it not good to obey?
Reading books, watching movies, and watching tv shows about magic, aliens (superman/transformers), vampires and werewolves (occult), all appeal to us in a fleshly sense. But if you look down to the foundation and origin of the matter the question is this: Is it pleasing to God?
We know from reading the Old Testament that God is not pleased with these things at all. Why would He be pleased with us partaking in it today? Many Christians will say, well i'm not practicing it, just watching it for entertainment. Are we not supposed to turn away and rebuke the things that are not of God? In essence, just dressing up for Halloween on a highly Satanic day is in of itself TOLERANCE for something not of God. That is sin as well. Watching tv shows each week, reading books about magic, etc... are all tolerance of things God hates.
Why do we like to read about this stuff? it appeals to our flesh in many levels. Reading and watching inhuman things allows one to see a different reality where many things are different and possible outside this earthly realm. The undead, spells, incantations. Truly is this not a spiritual realm? Well at the same time, isn't God's realm also spiritual?
Yes the spiritual is more real than the natural. but to what do you give the worship and focus? The things not of God? or the things of God?
In all things our focus should be God and turning away from the things not of God. And remember what is not of God is of Satan.
Acceptance and Tolerance of these things that are not of God especially when we are born again under God is something we have to look out and stand against. There is no tolerance and inclusiveness in Christianity. These are all lukewarm principles. These end times are when we stand against EVERYTHING displeasing to God and everything that the enemy will field against us. We have to don the entire armor of God and stand ready to battle spiritually. By accepting and tolerating these things, we essentially let our guard slip. We become less watchful, and less willing to stand for the things of God. We cannot have one foot in the world and one foot in the kingdom of heaven. As God asked the Israelites in the Old Testament to choose God or Baal and not be dual minded, we today have to answer the same question. Do we choose God or do we choose Satan and the things not of God.
This is not a trivial matter. We need to choose a side and not be double minded or lukewarm.
