What are you thoughts on this --- thanks

Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Matthew 7:14
Matthew 7:14 KJV: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

John 17:3 - And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

I was seeking truth, and found Truth... or it found me. :) Either way,
His name is Jesus Christ, and it is promised to those that seek diligently
that they will find. God desires that all come to this knowledge, for there
is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.

There Is only one way to make It Into eternal life and that Is through the door.JESUS.The way,the truth and the life because no man was able to make It possible for man by grace through faith.

Only GOD In CHRIST could make It possible.

John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath [present tense] everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

John 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

John 10:27-29 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

1 John 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.

1 John 4:13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

Yeah.. eternal life is a free gift, received, not earned or merited. As the previously posted scriptures show.

I think it is important in thinking about repentance, what this means too. Is repent in getting saved.. 'a turning from sin' or 'a change of mind, heart'?

If it is a 'continual turning from sin'.. then if you fall into sin later.. would that not mean you weren't saved to begin with.. or lost it?

If it is a 'change of mind, heart'.. then that is not about a continual commitment to turn from sin.. but the work of the Holy Spirit in regenerating you at the moment of salvation. Heart and mind changed.. PAST tense. Following Jesus because of that.

Not following Jesus to maintain eternal life..or attain it.

Do you want to know why the way is narrow? Because there is only one way to the Father and that is through Jesus Christ. He is the door, the access point that you must go through to be reconciled to God. This isn't about difficulty. Its about Jesus. Its grace being extended to man, not a matter of striving.

Many will seek to enter, but few will be able due to unbelief.

And [so] we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief. Hebrews 3:19

Repentance in Greek is without a doubt to "change the mind" or "change your thinking"....[FONT="Gentium" !important]metanoia - to change the mind

You are welcome!

Doesn't the truth make you fall deeper in love with the Lord and make Jesus so much greater in His salvation for us and how deeply He loves us?...it does me! I love the fruit that comes with knowing the truth of our Lord's perfect work for us!

Yes, there are many preachers out there calling repentance at salvation.. a continual commitment to turn from sin.. or saying that the result of salvation is ALWAYS a pattern of continual fleeing from sin.

This puts the salvation with the person and not Jesus. It's the person's behaviour determining the salvation rather than the work of Jesus in regenerating someone.

Of course there will be fruit from the Holy Spirit regenerating someone.. that is a given.. that's the natural result of regeneration.. but that isn't a commitment on the part of the person to do good work and flee from sin.. it's the Holy Spirit quickening someone!
