“No one would have ever guessed that she had such a promiscuous past.”

“As a young boy, he would always lie through his teeth and not even bat an eyelid!”

Man looks at you and remembers what you were like in the past. But when God looks at you through the new covenant, He declares, “I will be merciful to your unrighteousness, and your sins and lawless deeds I will remember no more.”

He states it plainly in His Word as if to assure us: “When you come to Me, don’t think that I am thinking about your sins. Don’t think that every time I look at you, I am reminded of your sins. Not only am I not keeping a record, but I am also not mindful of your failures and shortcomings. I am telling you that I will remember your sins no more, never again!”

God can say that all our sins He remembers no more because there was a time when He remembered them and punished every one of them—in the body of His Son at the cross. He punished every single one of them until Jesus cried out, “It is finished!” (John 19:30) That is why today, God can justly say, “Your sins I will remember no more.”

We all know that we sin from time to time. But the good news is that all our sins have already been dealt with at the cross. They have been washed away by Jesus’ blood. Now, when we come into God’s presence, He sees us without our sins.

So beloved, forget your past failures. Believe that God remembers your sins no more and be the righteous man that you already are in Christ!

Amen..and we look forward to His child-training ( Greek meaning of discipline/chastise in Hebrews 12 ). His instruction is convincing us of what is for our good and also proves we are His children.

to raise up the tribes of Jacob
and to bring back the preserved of Israel;
I will make you as a light for the nations,
that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth."Isaiah 49: The Servant of the LORD

This is an amazing truth! It's the kind of truth we humans are not able to think on our own. It would be interesting to take a poll, even here to see how many believers really believe this.

No way is this a natural way for me to think. Even if no one here will admit to their inability to continually believe this way. The only way I can keep this sort of mind set is by daily being saturated in it's truth and accepting by faith that God doesn't see as I see. It takes my daily repenting of my own mind set and stretching forward by faith to accept this kind of love that keeps no record and sees me as the righteousness of God IN Christ.

So., all our sins have already been dealt with... so even when we fail today -ZAP- paid for by the blood of Jesus - it is done...Jesus has sat down as the High Priest not having to make another sacrifice for a new sin I may commit. God being fully satisfied with me just as if I'd never sinned. My righteousness is never up for debate as far as God is concerned.

So beloved, forget your past failures. Believe that God remembers your sins no more and be the righteous man that you already are in Christ!

It takes a daily remembering so to actually believe this kind of truth. It takes the Holy Spirit to keep this mind set. To change my normal human way of thinking. To repent of my tendency to think as a natural man., and to continually be changed from this human mindset.... meaning; daily not thinking like a natural human who counts their sins against themselves and others. Having a mind renewed daily., to actually walk in this truth of thinking the way God thinks.

And when I believe this truth that my sins and lawless deeds He remembers no more... All things become new., all things are possible. There is no limit to what God will do in and through me. His love is never brought into question and His watch care will never stop over me.

And I see that each believer is responsible to believe this in order for it to be true in our lives. If we don't believe it., we won't walk in it. If the truth is going to set people free, they have to first know it and then believe it personally.

So the biggest challenge today for me is not the bills getting paid., or the dr. report to be favorable., it's not surviving possible bad news. What the challenge today is in order to be at peace, in order to be successful, in order to do anything for Jesus and those He puts in my path; is to believe Jesus is my righteousness.

That my sins and lawless deeds He remembers no more all because of the Great High Priest and His forever ministry to me. "He lives after the power of a endless life" So because of Him., I'm well and will continue to be.

Amen ladylynn!....well said!

We are to set our minds on things above...things that are true because of what our wonderful Lord did for us. Set our mind on the new creation truths such as we have His righteousness and holiness and life now because we are "in Christ" now.

Our real life is hidden with Christ in God now.

Colossians 3:1-3 (NASB)
[SUP]1 [/SUP] Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

[SUP]2 [/SUP] Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.

[SUP]3 [/SUP] For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

It is we who need to remember how bad we were so that we can testify as to the ongoing sanctification the Holy Spirit is doing in our lives.

When I think of my attitudes/actions in the past, I become totally humbled at the power of His love upon my nature. And I am in awe of how I really am a "new creature" in Christ.

Amen I understand what you mean Joidevivre.:D And we are told to do something else after that. There is a time to move forward out of being humbled and into walking in (His) righteousness as loved cared for sons. Kings and priests who are no longer what we were. There is a spiritual reason for this growing and learning about confidence.

Philippians 3:13-16
I do not consider brethren, that I have captured and made it my own (yet) but one thing I do (it is my one aspiration) forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead.

I press on toward the goal to win the (supreme and heavenly) prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.

So let those of us who are spiritually mature and full-grown have this mind and hold these convictions; and if in any respect you have a different attitude of mind, God will make that clear to you also.

Only let us hold true to what we have already attained and walk and order our lives by that.

In ourselves we know we are nothing., but IN Christ we have all things pertaining to life and godliness (now). We can minister to people who are where Jesus pulled us out from. And yes., while we are aware of our own weaknesses., we are at the same time made MORE aware of His power made clearer in our weaknesses. So in that we can walk in confidence so to really minister to those who are weak and hurting. There is a strength that makes blind people see and lame people walk.

I'm amazed that we are called to learn about the power of His resurrection.

Phil.3:10
(For my determined purpose is) that I may know Him (that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly) and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection (which it exerts over believers) and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed (in spirit into His likeness even) to His death, (in the hope)

That if possible I may attain to the (spiritual and moral) resurrection ( that lifts me) out from among the dead (even while in the body)

I'm learning there is to come a boldness in coming to know Him better. That will also allow us to do many more things in His name.

I agree...sometimes it is good to look back at what Christ has done for us considering where we came from. It does help us to appreciate as you say what our loving Lord has done for us. Throughout eternity we will only remember Christ and nothing of what bad things that happened. They don't exist anymore.

I remember a quote that helped me in these kinds of thoughts when thinking about the past.

"We can say that satan has no part in me. My history declares the effectiveness of the blood of Jesus. Anytime we visit the events of our past apart from the blood of Jesus - we visit a lie because it no longer exists. My history shouts the effectiveness of the blood of Jesus."

How bad we were? Sheesh, I can see how bad I am...at least I can see partially how bad I am.
I do thank God though for the imputed righteousness (declared and reckoned to my account) all because of the perfect obedience of Jesus.

Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. Rom 5:18

Just a little comment to this: Although I do overall agree:
This can be a way of pushing baby Christians away from God. (We must learn to know them to know where to start.)
If a person feels really, really bad about what they have done, they might conclude they are not worthy and reject salvation

There are many out there who feel hatred for christians simply because the people in churches failed to treat them in a Christlike manner (condemnation, abuse...)

Sadness. There's a war on for souls and we're called to increase the harvest for the sake of the kingdom, not decrease it for the sake of earthly sensibilities.

Example: Being a punk is not a sin. *checks watch*

So does God not remember even though someone hasn't repented of sin? Or does the Christian need to repent of sin before God chooses to forget?

God may not remember how bad we were in regards to punishing us, but scripture says that He will point to some in future generations to show His great mercy and people may need to understand what sins His mercy saved us from. And to say God will not remember the bad we will do in the future is totally not scriptural. He who does righteous is of God. He who doesn't do what is rightous is of the devil.
