Helping those in need is perhaps one of the most important things we, as the church should be doing.

It's funny how the Salvation Army understands that better than many churches.

It also fits right in with the second of the two greatest commandments.... loving our neighbor as ourselves.

IDK but thats what Jesus said to the existing church of that day. And I think he is saying it now in the US of A. I don't know that is what the OP is saying or not. But I think if Jesus were herein the flesh as in the bible<He would say the sam thing to our modern psychology churches.

Taking care of the poor and oppressed is at the heart of our service to our Dad. It's in black and white in so many ways all throughout scripture.

"For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows." - 1 Timothy 6:10

This seems to be the core sin of much of the modern "church" as well as our political leadership here on planet earth. It's a fatal one.

Maybe I am misunderstanding, but at our church it is not even as issue to be discussed. We wouldn't even consider not doing it. We are a small church that is down to only about 100 people now, and we feed about 500 people a week.

Well the church used to be the welfare system but in 19 something the government thought it best to take that system over and totally messed up. God had system in place and man destroyed it. Look in the bible days you could beg if you had license from the priest.

Well not sure I'd call it modern Pharisee more like forgetarisee on the planet is there any place on earth that hasn't been affected by cravings for money etc. though far fetched to say much of the churches are in it for the money in my view.

How many televangelists have we had now that have taught doctrines of faith healing, doctrines of do-it-yourself-through-faith prosperity, doctrines of pop psychology, doctrines involving political agendas etc, asking for donations from poor people, manipulating them, all the while sitting on large sums of money and earthly treasures while the economic disease on planet earth keeps getting worse and worse?

"Much". Yes. Too much for too long.

What happens when your modern-day jesus walks through the door of any church at all? It immediately becomes about money, what he can be used for. Meanwhile, he lives in poverty (forced).

The reality of it is everyone talks a good game but no one wants to break rank. I've seen it a lot in churches where they wait on someone else to make a move. I've seen it go so far as to wait to see if its successful or not before others ask to help.
Big or small, people seem to be afraid to do what they know is right. There is a lot of teaching going on about waiting on the holy spirit to guide you, and some don't know how to be spirit led. Personally I don't believe you have to wait upon guidance each and every time you come across a situation that someone needs help.

I think people are waiting for some special power feeling, the holy spirit speaks through the words of Jesus in us. the ones we treasure up and believe. the spirit reminds us of everything He said. its communication to us, is our renewed mind. each day we are led By Him, hes always saying do the right thing. Like Jesus said " if anyone chooses to do His will, they will then find out whether His teaching Comes from God or man." being spirit led is following Jesus words. the spirit will never disagree with Him, and always will.

because so many reject Gods Word
Or simply use it to further some agenda other than what it's intended for originally.

God's truth is not a selling point, it's a message about giving.

I'm sincerely hoping that Daddy deals with this situation soon in a major way.

A hundred people? Wow? How does everyone get a chance to minister their functions, in turn, two or three at a time, with that large a group? Not good.

They didn't mess up here. They even pay a full time pastor sometimes for a while if the church doesn't and see it as love work for the community.
