Yes or no....

1. Do you follow the Law of God perfectly?

2. Do you believe you are morally superior to others? For example: homosexuals, prostitutes, murderers, adulterers

3. Do you enjoy praying in front of others to show how "holy" you are?

4. Do you boast about how much money, time or wisdom you give to the poor and needy?

5. Do you want to "help" others by pointing out their sins and faults?

6. Do you minimize your own sin and justify why your sin is different from other people's sins?

7. Do you believe you have to do good, works to,earn your salvation.

If you answered yes to any of these then you have mixed the leaven of the Pharisees into your bread.

I was going to answer each one, but as I did, I started to feel like I was showing off or making myself look good. So, I'll just leave it at this: I live under grace and I put into practice His commands because I love Him. :D (John 14)

1) Do you hate Jesus and plan to kill Him?
2) Do you have a seared conscience?
3) Are you a satanist?
4) Do you steal and commit adultery but act holy?
You're a pharisee.

If you follow God's law perfectly you're about to get raptured and can't possibly be a pharisee. Enoch did that. I know a few more. They're the most humble of all.

Yes or no....

1. Do you follow the Law of God perfectly?
No, Praise Him for His grace.

2. Do you believe you are morally superior to others? For example: homosexuals, prostitutes, murderers, adulterers
No, probably worse, praise Him for His grace.

3. Do you enjoy praying in front of others to show how "holy" you are?
No, praise Him for His grace.

4. Do you boast about how much money, time or wisdom you give to the poor and needy?
No, praise Him for His grace.

5. Do you want to "help" others by pointing out their sins and faults?
No, we are told not to judge and in the past I have grown a few planks in my eye to know the difference, but the Spirit within me grieves when I see the household of God trapped in unrighteousness or being led astray and the urge to shepherd the flock away from the cliff edge should be inherent in all of us if we truly love our brethren.

6. Do you minimize your own sin and justify why your sin is different from other people's sins?
No, probably the opposite, praise Him for His grace.

7. Do you believe you have to do good, works to,earn your salvation.
No, but faith without works is dead, for through faith works are done without recourse. Praise Him for His grace.

If you answered yes to any of these then you have mixed the leaven of the Pharisees into your bread.
How about you as the OP?

me, too. do you think this could be why? :)

But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. (Ps 86:15)

We are all self-righteous to some degree. This kind of stuff had been going on long before the group known as the Pharisees ever came into existence.

Sin has damaged our ability to be altruistic. Even to say that we are humble is a manifestation of pride.

It is wrong, a sin, to tempt the brethren to pride. Why don' we let the One Who earned what was already His, that is, Judgment, judge.

No one on the face of the earth has fulfilled all the Op's requirements except one - our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank God we are in Him and trust in what He has done for us and then walk out His life in us every day as we learn to follow the Holy Spirit inside of us now.

As bikerchaz has said...thank God for His grace. Let's receive the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness and walk with Him.

Romans 5:17 (NASB)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

( Oh..side note..if you drink coffee - you go straight to hell.... Yep..you guessed it - I don't drink coffee anymore..lol ).

The Apostle who wrote 3/4 of the NT was a Pharisee. It is sometimes hard for us to remember that the honest intent of most of the Pharisees was to be pleasing to God. Some (usually the most prominent) fell victim to the same pride and vanity many of our Big Name preachers, today, succumb to. (Both Grace Followers AND Law Bulldogs)

I agree I think in the scriptures jesus even avoided the fame not that he would succumb to it but as a example.
