What people don’t seem to understand is that if we repent of our sin, we can have peace of mind now. We don’t have to wait till we die. We can have it now.

Just being honest here, but I don't spend a lot of time repenting. I mean I don't repent every time I do something wrong.... and I have peace of mind all the time.

A seared conscience!!!

Hahaha! :D Or could it possibly be a revelation of the grace of God and the gift of no condemnation in Jesus Christ? :)

The fact is that we sin all the time and do not realize it. but. once it is brought to our attention, we ask forgiveness and repent. But for those who are bound, that is a difficult thing to do. Bound in the bible means a slave or we would say in modern terms addicted and that brings a whole different theme to the story. A person can be saved and truly love God but be bound (addicted to sin). Romans 7

Stringing repentance together with condemnation is quite the stretch. Why do people have to exaggerate to make a point ?

Is it? Those without Christ are already condemned. Here we see repentance and condemnation part of a formula, a person condemned is in need of repentance to believe in Jesus Christ. This is speaking of a non-believer. As for the believer, condemnation isn't something we should feel, because in Christ there is no condemnation. Scripture makes it clear on how to have confidence before the Lord.

1 John 3:21 King James Version (KJV)

21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

If repentance in your mind is going to the Lord sorry for your sins, ho
w is it that you come boldly before him if you feel condemned? There is not stretch involved, as a matter of fact sin confession for forgiveness is contrary to the Gospel, as there are people who think they are condemned if they die in their sins without repenting.

VVhere is the grace of God? VVhere is Jesus in this doctrine? Truth be told, the stretch is in pretending one can repent of sins without condemnation in play. Yet for it to be in play would go contrary to the Gospel that makes it all so clear that we are reconciled to God and Jesus has taken care of sin once and for all.

Yes, it is.

Agreed. "These things are written that you may KNOW that you have eternal life."

The price of sin is death. Maybe not a physical death as of yet but defiantly a spiritual death

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Can you please back up with scripture where somebody repented to repent and not because of sin, because if they sinned they are condemned. Fortunate for us though we have the Lord Jesus Christ who has paid the wage of sin for us with his blood through the death, burial, and resurrection so there is no condemnation

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. (Jn 14:27)

Then I must be doing something wrong. I find repenting to be quite a bit like "stop smoking." First I try and fail on my own. Then I try again, and again, until I truly realize I can't do it on my own. Then God reminds me that it's not I who am able. It's him. So I do it with him, keep wanting to go back to doing what I'm comfortable with doing, have to keep seeking his help, have to keep figuring out what to do next, because, let's face it, sinning is a lot easier than not sinning, and keep seeking him, get utterly confused, pace, go do something -- anything -- not to do it again for the next ten minute, remember to seek God, who then finally gives me a little hint -- a little sign -- that this is something he wants me to do and is helping me to do, and then it gets a little easier and easier with practice, and I stumble on what to replace it with, and then, and then, and then...

Before I know it, I kind of learn how to do that one thing in him just as he's calling me to task about repenting of the next thing.

I don't think it's easy. It's not peace of mind yet, but I know, and only from the past, it gets easier. I do have comfort that it is God's way, but peace of mind? Is there enough time in his lesson plans to sit back and enjoy that often?

Why do you have to get angry at everyone you respond to?

I think He just wants us to have a repentive attitude, sometimes mentioning certain things we repent of. Otherwise it is like saying that since we have to do everything in Christ name, we would be saying it all day long- I breathed in Christ's name, I walked, sat, stood in Christ's name. It's an attitude that sometimes is specific.

Why are those without Christ already condemned? I am not saying you are wrong but let's just say I don't understand.

So if one doesn't come to Christ then they can't be saved from hell?

What people don't understand is ...

that it is not a matter of using willpower to "turn from sin" but to recognize how much God really loves us (as demonstrated through the death, burial, and resurrection of His one and only human born Son, Messiah Jesus) and them humbly coming to Him in Jesus' name, learning more about His love for us, and then reflecting that love to others.

Then sin loses its power over us and we become indifferent to it because our life is so much more rewarding and meaningful.

If you resist temptation, then you will continue to have peace of mind.

The way you describe your own struggle is much like I would describe my own. Without the Lord's help, I couldn't do it. It's well worth it, though.

And it's good to stop hurting people with our sin.
