What Type of Seeds Do You Plant?
By David J. Stewart
Luke 8:5 and 15, “A sower went out to sow his seed... But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.”
Every Christian believer ought to be a spiritual Johnny Appleseed, planting seeds everywhere one goes for the Lord. The Word of God is that Seed by which men are born-again into the kingdom of God. 1st Peter 1:23, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” The Bible is the Seed which must be planted into men's hearts if they are to be saved, specifically the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Most religious people these days are planting the wrong kind of seeds. Instead of planting the Seed of the Gospel, they are planting seeds of hatred, gossip, and wickedness. While some Christians are keeping busy soul-winning, contending for the faith, and serving God; other backslidden and carnally-minded believers are working against the cause of Christ by spewing hatred, gossip, and sowing discord amongst brethren. God will judge each and every believer individually at the Judgment Seat of Christ (2nd Corinthians 5:10-11; James 4:12, 5:9).

I would be ashamed if one day I stood before God, having spent my life tearing people down with malicious gossip; rather than building up the Body of Christ by soul-winning and earnestly contending for the Christian faith. Some people have nothing more going for them than to slander, gossip, and tear others down with their malicious words. I refuse to live like that, planting seeds of hatred and contempt, which is exactly how Satan behaves. Revelation 12:10, “And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.” You are never more like Satan than when you point fingers at anyone. Satan accuses believers to God day and night the Bible says, just like some wicked people do. I condemn no one, just as Christ condemned no one (John 3:17). God's Law condemns the whole world (Romans 3:19).

I choose rather to spend my time soul-winning, contending for the Christian faith, and living for God by helping others (Philippians 2:4-5).The Bible teaches in Romans 12:21, “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” When people condemn you and try to discourage you, overcome evil with good by sharing the Gospel, give out Gospel tracts, distribute Gospels of John, or do something in Jesus' name that glorifies God the Father. Let the wicked tear each other down, wasting their lives away scorning one another in childish hatred; but I'm going to continue laying up treasures in Heaven by faithfully serving my King, preaching the Gospel of Christ Jesus to all.

What type of seeds do you plant?
The Bible teaches that a Christian believer with an honest and good heart keeps the Word of God and brings forth fruit. To bring forth fruit, seeds must be planted in order for something to grow. This means sharing the Gospel with others so that they can be saved. Most professed believers have their own selfish agenda and never share the Gospel with others. Most believers are choked by the cares, riches, and pleasures of this temporal life (Luke 8:14). Very few believers live from day-to-day with Heaven's closeness in view. Do you have any idea just how close we are to eternity?

While soul-winning Christians are working to get sinners saved, there are others who work against their labors in the Lord. While one is pushing, the other is pulling. While one is building, the other is tearing down. This ought not be. Those carnally-minded believers who stifle the work of God and sow discord amongst brethren will face the terror of the Lord on Judgment Day (2nd Corinthians 5:11). They will lose all their rewards. God calls the feet of the soul-winner, beautiful (Romans 10:15). There is nothing beautiful about a gossiping tongue that spreads manure and instigates contempt and hatred toward others. In fact, God hates a lying tongue, a proud look, hands that shed innocent blood, feet that are quick to mischief, a heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, a false witness that telleth lies, and he that soweth discord amongst brethren (Proverb 6:16-19).

What type of seeds are you planting? Are you planting seeds of hatred, gossip, and distrust of others? Or are you planting the Seed of the Gospel everywhere you go? Are you planting seeds of good works done in Jesus' name? Or are you planting seeds of contempt and hatred toward others by your calloused and hardened heart?

Let's cut to the chase... are you a builder or a destroyer?

Most professed Christian believers today are floaters, neither building nor destroying. They simply don't care either way. Our churches are filled with floaters who sit on their blessed assurance, never doing anything to make a difference for Christ by sharing the Gospel. 2nd Corinthians 4:3, “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost.” Oh how great the cost of silence? The world is headed for eternal damnation in the Lake of Fire. If we hide the Gospel by remaining silent because we are too preoccupied with this temporal world, then it is the lost who will suffer the eternal consequences in Hell. This is exactly what 2nd Corinthians 4:3 states. If we fail to preach the Gospel, it is only hid from those who are lost.

Hear the stern warning of 2nd Corinthians 4:3, “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost.” Not one mainstream CCM artist shares the Gospel on their website; yet they have influence over tens-of-millions of fans. The popular message of our apostate generation is love, love, love. Praise God for His unconditional love that sent Christ into the world to die for men's sins (John 3:16); but the Bible also teaches that God is angry with the wicked every day (Psalm 7:11), and God's wrath abides upon all Christ-rejecters (John 3:36), and whosoever doesn't obey the Gospel will burn in the fires of Hell forever and ever (2nd Thessalonians 1:8-9). What type of seeds are you planting?

May we all become as Johnny Appleseed (1774-1845), who planted apple tree seeds so much that he was nicknamed for it. Every Christian ought to plant the Seed of the Gospel everywhere we go. One of my favorite ways is to give someone a booklet of the Gospel of John, which was written for that very purpose. John 20:31, “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”

1st Corinthians 15:33, “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” You will not be what you decide to become; but rather, you will become what you decide to be around. People who watch TV on a regular basis are going to have a garbage pail for a mind—saturated with filth, violence, self-righteous hypocrisy, and brainwashing indoctrination from the manure-spreading newsmedia. A believer who loves Jesus Christ ought to hate what television is today. If you'll turn off the TV and instead spend time searching the Scriptures (John 5:39), then you'll become more concerned about the things of Jesus Christ's as Philippians 2:21 teaches (thinking about others, Philippians 2:4-5).

Walk with God and you'll begin to hunger for souls to be saved. It is a matter of faith. Most churchgoers don't really believe that there's a place called Hell that burns with fire and molten sulfur (Revelation 21:8), where all Christ-rejecters will be tormented for ever and ever. Most religious people don't believe in a literal Hell. However, the Word of God plainly teaches and warns that Hell is real “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

What type of seeds do you plant... seeds of righteousness or seeds of wickedness? Every one sows some type of seeds. Those seeds sprout and bring forth either good fruit or evil fruit. The Bible warns that every man will reap what he sows (Galatians 6:7). While the wicked plant seeds of evil, hatred, and unbelief; Christians ought to lay up treasures in Heaven by planting the Seed of the Gospel into the hearts and minds of men.

It is wonderful to know that amidst all the sorrow, pain, and tribulation of this temporal earthly life that we can BE OF GOOD CHEER as Jesus said in John 16:33; rejoicing that Jesus has risen from the dead, ascended into Heaven, seated on the Father's right-hand, and is now interceding on our behalf as our heavenly High Priest (Romans 8:34; Hebrews 4:15-16). What a precious Savior, Jesus is mine!

Is it just to tell people a desire is to not be their friend or is it just to have compassion forgiveness in the heart by not believing that in the heart that there is a desire to not be friends with that person..

I also may get venting at times but I come back the next day like nothing ever happened...

Romans 10:8-15
But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

2 Corinthians 5:11-21
Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences. 12For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart. 13For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause. 14For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: 15And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

16Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. 17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
20Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Romans 1:16-17
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Our words and actions can be seen as a sword a blade, our blade what it's appearance is what it is made of what it is used for is entirely based upon what is in our hearts. A blade can cut down it can make one bleed it can be used to slaughter but it can also be used to heal to protect to uphold and to encourage.

For me my blade is not to cut down or to prove myself right it is only to encourage to uplift to build and strengthen, MsSuazanna while I agree with your op I would first make sure you don't need to take your own advice, you speak of a tongue that gives life and that encourages heals and upholds bur for the most part all I have seen your tongue as is a whip

I admit it - I have planted many seeds of various colors into the ears of people. We all do. What about when we speak fear instead of faith? Then there have been seeds of trivia, seeds of selfishness, seeds of frustration, seeds of neglect and possibly a lot of weeds along with those seeds. Many of these seeds aren't wicked, they are just useless for spiritual growth and can actually be a deterrent.

Ah, but along with those seeds, there are many seeds of God's word that is there also. We try - we trust that the Holy Spirit will use our mouth - but I have not had a perfect day yet. I just hope the Good News about Jesus takes root, and the other seeds drop on the ground before they reach someone's spirit.

Lord, help us all to sow seeds with a covering of Jesus on each one.

I want to tell you something. You see I am one who always speaks his heart I don't know any other way to be as a believer and my hearts eyes are solely locked on God and so often times he will speak through me and will use me to speak others to impact their hearts to make that spark to ignite the flame. Granted he is not always the words but for the most part all I do is speak what is on my heart and his words are what come from it.

Now my words just like my blade are life are to encourage to build to strengthen and to uphold and when needed correct and teach, I am not on here just to discuss the bible or to debate or even to teach I am here because more than anything I want him to use me to deepen the bonds and love, the connections and the relationship between him and his children and while I know I am nothing on my own while I know I am not the wisest or strongest or purest believer and I am certainly not the most obedient child I am one thing-Willing.

I believe it is because of all of this I mentioned that he has used to me to help so many, I have seen how he used me to make that spark in ppls hearts where there was none I have seen how he used me to ignite that fire to heal the inner wounds and scars cuts and bruises I have seen how he has used me to encourage and to strengthen how he has used me to show who he really is what he sees how he feels thinks ect.

Not that I can take any credit or that it was me at all but I am one who does more than evangelize does more than preach the gospel he has even used me to impact people who specifically came here to destroy and to cause war among believers.
Is this what you have seen from your words?

I don't how true it is that most believer sdont believe in hell but I do because I have been there I personally went to that place and can attest to the lake of fire to the absolute heat humidity and the intense thirst my shirt was glued to my skin from the intense heat. I never want anyone to have see what I saw there or experience what i did, sometimes I see an ambulance drive by with it's sirens on or a firetruck and knowing that a person may die I am suddenly overwhelmed by concern for them and my heart aches because knowing if they die and are not saved they will see that place I saw but also even if a person is saved I still am crying because I cannot stand the thought of them having to die.

And so I beg God to take me instead and in those tears in that moment I truly hope that it will always be me far before it's anyone else and he clearly did not take me but I hope that simply my offering of my life and that I was more than willing to die instead of them no matter who they are what they have done if they are saved or not he accepted my sacrifice and spared them.

You ask if I am a builder or a destroyer but if i told you I was builder would you believe me?

Blain, you have not been to hell. That is only for the unsaved when they die. You might have thought that was hell, but believe me, whatever you saw was not the real hell. It is not about heat or humidity. It is without the presence of God. And any Christian would not give up his place. Mainly because it is a Gift that Jesus died for you to have. How could you refuse that? All other people have the same choice you have had, and have chosen not to go with God. Let them be.

And to be more real, we are both builder and destroyer because, as I said in my last posting, we are still oftentimes coming from our flesh. Even the best of us.

Thank you!

Blains stories concern me deeply.
There is a chasm. The bible shows us that in the story of Lazarus and the rich man.
People havent been to heaven either. Satan is having a good time sending delusions to those who are without understanding.

Regardless if you believe me or not I have been there I was taken there for a specific purpose but it wasn't what you may at first think. I was not taken there because I was lost or because that is where I was headed I was taken there because I was to be shown something and not to mention this is where I first met Jesus face to face and he even answered a prayer I had long asked for in that place.

Unless you saw with my eyes you can say I have never been there but in the end unless you were there you can only speculate

Some people lean on the word. Your added revelation is not from God.
Remember saul? He was blinded for a time when he gazed upon the glory of the Lord. You saw the fake Jesus that is not from the heavenlies. You sound gnostic to me. Scary stuff

Added revelation? to be an added revelation it would have to had reveal something new what I saw and experienced there was not new and trust me I have encountered satan pretending to be Jesus several times so I know if it who I was with was the real Jesus or not.Not that it matter my experience is not what this thread is about

But getting back to the point, we are both builder and destroyer, depending on whether we live by the Spirit or live by the flesh. And I have yet to see that person who was perfect builder while still in the flesh. We all say the wrong things at the wrong time. And yet as Christians, we do give the Word when inspired.

Let no man say they are only a builder. Only Jesus Christ is! And only when we are inspired at those moments by him.

True enough we all have weak moments but I think to classify if one was either a builder destroyer or both we would decide this by the general way they speak and act not if they do it perfectly. Like for instance before we were saved we were only known as sinners when we come to Christ in his eyes we are saints not because we no longer sin but because this is the eyes he sees through the blood of Jesus makes us clean and our sins are as if they never existed to him.

I think in the same way one can be builder not because they never destroy but because their hearts are always lead to encourage build strengthen uphold and they follow their hearts for the most part in this way. It's like I said our words and actions can be viewed as a blade and what our blades appearance is what it is made of and what it does is based entirely on our hearts, even if it is not fully there my blade is not to destroy to cut down nor is it to prove myself right mine is only heal to uplift encourage uphold to strengthen and deepen the bonds love and relationship between God and his children I want my blade to be the very manifestation of fathers heart
