Ah! I like your honesty!! "The words you are asking for aren't there" but "the truth of those words is" -- I think the controversy between eternal security and arminianism need not be: Why can't we all believe the truth of God's grace and power to keep the believer without making statements about what God can or cannot do?

Faulty reasoning. Then I suppose you don't hold to the Trinity because there is no verse that says 'Trinity is true'.

20 years? then if you don't have the periphrastic perfect figured out yet.......you probably won't.

Depends on how you know Christ. If you really know the Jesus of the bible Who is God then your question answers itself. If you know the Jesus that man has created then you can never know.

It's not by works that we are saved but if we had nothing to continue in we wouldn't need anything past John..

    Try this...

    1 Corinthians 3:15 KJVS
[15] If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Our work only contributes to or better stated evidences sanctification not salvation.

Birds fly, fish swim but Christians grow. Sanctification is growth. Salvation is a gift of grace. God knows we cannot save ourselves and God knows a long as we are in these bodies of flesh we cannot keep ourselves saved. Grace once given is never repented of by God. God never stops loving us and God loves the sinner even as he is cast into the lake of fire. It is his sin that causes him to be condemned.

What's past John are instructions to the Churches and exposing errors as well as a full explanation of the Gospel {Romans).

Jesus said it is finished. If we don't start where Jesus finished - we will never run well. And where He finished is that He made us right with God. We are the righteousness of God in Christ.

Unveil yourself and see who we are in Christ now because of what Jesus has already done for us - that we are one with Him, we are beloved children of God.

With this "security" leads to true "maturity" and we will walk in the good works He has prepare for us from the foundation of the world!

Ah, Mr. Crossnote, is it fair to try to make me to be a person who doesn't believe in the Trinity? There are clear Scripture verses that state the deity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. But it is true that the word "Trinity" is not found in Scripture, but the concept is clearly there. That is what I am asking about "eternal security" -- Is it a doctrine stated clearly in a verse or is it a doctrine derived from Scriptural principles?

I Corinthians 3:15: I agree that this verse could be interpreted as saying "once saved always saved" -- but that interpretation hinges on what a person interprets "work" to be.

[QUOTE=Chester;2628566]Despite years of Bible study and talking to many people, I have not yet had anyone show me a verse that clearly says "once saved, always saved?" Is there such a verse in the Bible, or is the doctrine of eternal security a conclusion from study of Scriptural themes and principles?/QUOTE]

No such verse is in the bible but it is implied and is definitely derived from a conclusion of scriptural themes and principles. Welcome to CC.

I'm sorry if I've mischaracterized you. Obviously the exact words you're looking for won't be found. But these verses say basically the sameHOME

    Ephesians 1:13-14 (KJV)
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

4:30, "And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption."

Scripture states that through believing the Gospel of Christ, the gospel of our salvation, we are sealed unto the day of redemption which is our promise and guarantee that it will happen. What is the redemption?

Romans 8:23, "And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body."

The redemption is when we are fully adopted. We should always be careful about building a doctrine based upon one verse in the Bible.

Both. It is clearly presented in definite terms and it is clearly presented in doctrinal principles.

I wish we could hear Paul say Eph 2:8. That would cast doubt out.

And Logic based on His Character and nature. If we could lose salvation......the consequence is the Eternal lake of Fire. Our Father would CLEARLY tell His Children EXACTLY where we would lose salvation if we could.

Gal. 3:3 -- Powerful verse - 100% true: but it doesn't state that "once saved, always saved". I wonder if you quoting this means that you feel that anyone not believing "once saved always saved" believes that it is works that keeps a person saved?

IF you do not realize that the rebirth took place in your spirit then it can be confusing to your mind worshiping GOD standing in front of a physical mirror.

How about instead of showing you a verse that says Salvation is Eternal, you show us a verse that specifically says we can lose our Salvation.

    Romans 8:30
30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

IF we are Predestined and called and Justified and Glorified then how can we lose our Salvation?

By what act or deed will remove Salvation from Us?

    Ephesians 2:8,9
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Its by Grace and Faith we have been saved. The only way i see to lose Salvation is to lose one's Grace and Faith. But the problem is both Grace and Faith are from God!
