We not only can't know the day or the hour of Jesus' return, Mark 13:32, we can't know when the time is too, Mark 13:33. Not only that we can't even know for sure that we are even in the season, Acts 1:7. I don't believe this contradicts when He says when we see certain things happening to look up that our redemption draws near either as we are to be ready at any time but regardless, we are to take the gospel everywhere, Acts 1:8. Consider that on any given day someone could die and leave this earth regardless if Jesus comes back now or later and that person would have to face his or her maker. So spreading the gospel is the paramount issue anyway as without the gospel, none of it means anything.

Mark 13:32 New King James Version (NKJV)

32 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

Mark 13:33 New King James Version (NKJV)

33 Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.

Acts 1:7-8 New King James Version (NKJV)

7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

We cannot know the day that it will happen, but there are prophesies of when it is close.

Paul said he did not need to write unto the saints concerning the day of the Lord, for they know it comes as a thief in the night, but gives a hint when it is close, when the world says peace, and safety, which will be when the world comes together trying to solve their problems,at the beginning of the 7 years period, which the saints will know it is not of God.

The resurrection cannot occur until there is a falling away first, which is the first half of the 7 years period, when they will not endure sound doctrine, but want to hear the Bible according to their own lusts, which is because of the unified religious system, making all religions valid for spirituality, and in the middle of the 7 years period, the beast, and his kingdom, which the Bible says they make war against the saints, and the saints are given in to his hands for three and one half years.

But Jesus Himself said we can't know the time or the seasons put under the Father's authority, Acts 1:7-8. You are correct though, He will come like a thief in the night to those in darkness, but really those in the light need to do the work of spreading the gospel whether He is coming now or later. To me it makes no difference if He is coming now or later as I am doing His work regardless and I am in the light.

I think the parts about when certain things are happening are to show us it could be happening at any time but really we can't really know for sure but, as I pointed out, we should be doing His work anyway.

The scripture says we need to be prepared and ready for it, but as far as knowing exactly when no one knows but the Father.

Yes. I couldn't be for sure, but what I have seen in my 30 some years of life is that the world is just getting wickeder and wickeder. It is probably even more evil now that what it was in the days of Noah.

For my lost loved ones, I thank God that he is patient and long suffering not willing that any should perish, and is still giving them a little time and a chance to be saved. But in my opinion we are more than likely just living on borrowed time right now.

We are asked to watch and be ready...... If we exercise the discernment that God has given us, we can indeed know the season. All you have to do is look around us at the events around Israel and in the world.

Let's look at the scriptures you gave us to prove we cannot know the day and hour and ALSO season:
Mark 13:32-33
32 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33 Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.

Verse 33 says for you do not know when the time is.... Does this not directly reference the time in verse 32?
There is no scriptural evidence to say we cannot know the season. God gives us key references to know what the season is.

mpaper, the time of the falling away is leading up to the Great Tribulation/Time of Jacob's trouble, probably not just the first half.

Hey RobbyEarl,

Regarding Israel being the fig tree, what do you think about the following?

"Then Jesus told them a parable: “Look at the fig tree and all the trees. When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near. So also, when you see these things taking place, you will know that the kingdom of God is near."

Even though the fig tree has been used a couple of times as symbolic representing Israel, I never believed that the reference to the fig tree here in Luke 21:29 or Mt.24:32 was in reference to Israel becoming a nation. As we can in Luke's version is says "and all the trees." The point that Jesus was making was to demonstrate that, just as when you see the fig tree and all of the trees blossoming you can tell that summer is near, in the same way when you see all of the signs he mentioned taking place you can know that the end of the age is near. So the comparison is the blossoming of the trees with the signs leading up to his return.

I think that somewhere along the line someone claimed this about Israel being the fig tree and everyone just followed suit and adopted it as their own belief and it became dogma. This has happened with a number of other scriptures, were someone starts something and then it just snow-balls. One example of this would be for those who study Revelation and end-time events regarding the reference to the 200 million mounted troops that those four fallen angels gather. Someone, somewhere claimed that these were the kings of the east and everyone followed suit with it, even though there is nothing in either scripture whatsoever to link these 200 million with the kings of the east.

Just my personal observation

The Jewish fall festivals give some indication of the the time of the end. In particular the feast of Trumpets start when the crescent moon is sighted by two witnesses. The custom is to wait for up to two days before two witnesses verify that the it has been seen before the festival can begin. This is partly why nobody knows the day or the hour. The feast of trumpets is the only festival that there is no detailed explanation in scripture for it to be celebrated. The fall festivals are concerned with the second coming and the millennium.

We have been told by our Lord to be dressed and ready, and to keep our lamps burning.

Christ has died
Christ is risen
CHRIST WILL COME AGAIN !

BE READY !
