Its not what I think...isnt it what the trustworthy (meaning Christian) History books say?
They say the Church.

The Old Testament (the Tanakh) and bits and pieces of the Gospel came before the Church.

Im just looking for an intelligent back and forth.

Well, see, an intelligent back and forth means each person offers their ideas/opinions. You posed the question in the OP, and when I asked you what you thought, you dodged my question.

That's pretty much the definition of "fishing," but, hey, go ahead, there are folks here who will engage you in this discussion. Me? Meh...

Not the same thing is it?
I'm not sure what you're saying, Vox. Christ is the foundation of the Church. He established the Church. More writings followed Christ's ascension that were accepted by most of Christendom (the NT was established in the 1st century AD) and then the entire Bible (OT and NT) were officially recognised as such by a council designed to combat the competing writings that were being sold as truth to the public eg. Gnostic gospels etc.

Do I have such a shortage of crazy people that you brought this one to act crazy around me? Is this one going to come into my house?

I most certainly answered your question....I said it doesnt matter what I think...what is important is what is true. You answered with a question as well BTW...and I didnt assert you were "dodging or fishing"

In the beginning was the WORD. God spoke life into existence, and these events were written down- long before Christ purchased His church with His blood.

I agree therefor the answer is simple...The Church preceded the writings. Therefore if there is an assertion that the Bible is a Christian persons sole rule of faith the assertion begs the question what was it before the year 382.

I agree but how do you know this is true...have you been given a direct revelation from God?

Such a wonderful, pleasant day. Can't you please just go to a Roman Catholic website? No one here is going to become a Catholic or follow the pope. Many, myself included, have been freed from it.
I pray you have a blessed Memorial day.

Hi Voxx, and welcome to CC!
I checked out your profile page, as I usually do with new members, to understand from whence they come. In your case I found the following as your favourite "Bible" verse:

"The Church is the Pillar and Ground of Truth."

Of course, this is not biblical. It sounds Catholic, though you don't identify yourself on your profile page as Catholic. Therefore, I will ask you directly: Do you follow/believe in/support/adhere to the Roman Catholic Church? If not Catholic, is there another "group" or "organization" with which you identify, and what is it?

Jesus Christ is the Truth. He pre-existed the Church (universal, not Catholic; used similarly henceforth). The role of the Church is to witness to the Truth and to spread the Good News of Christ. The Bible technically post-dates the origin of the Church, but it pre-dates all existing churches, including the Catholic (as you may have noticed, the Catholic Church is not considered Christian by most on this site; that issue is well-documented and discussed on other threads).

So to answer your question another way, the Bible is the "yardstick" by which all truth (small 't') is measured. Generally speaking, all Christian churches uphold the Bible as the rule of faith, rather than standing over the Bible as some sort of authority. If it doesn't line up with the Bible, it isn't true.

If it doesn't matter what you think...........why did you ask us what WE think? Why not just make your sales pitch for the RCC and be done with it?
