like most Catholics I had not and could not understand why Protestants refuse to do what God and His angel did viz hail Mary and call her blessed - could it not just be because they regard the mother of Jesus Christ as 'the whore of Babylon' therefore they just cannot regard a whore as blessed above all women - wincam

Protestants do not have any problem with calling Mary "blessed".

They have problems with praying to her after she died and with other inventions about her character and role.

Jesus said quite a few people were blessed. Remember Matthew 5:3-12?

Matthew 5:3-12 (NIV)

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

There are other examples as well, such as when Peter answered
Jesus when asked,
"Who do you say that I am?"

Jesus replied,Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven."

"Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.”

"But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear."

And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.

In Luke 11:27, look:As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out,
Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you."

He replied, Blessed rather are those who hear
the word of God and obey it.”

Jesus all but rebukes her for claiming that Mary is blessed above certain others!
Any ways, that is just a few examples of whom Jesus said were blessed :)

Mary is NOT to be hailed, prayed to, bowed down to, or worshipped. Period.

? Where does it say God and his angels "hail Mary"? Show me a specific verse please?
I mean, apart from the assumed "Hi Mary! from the angel who told her the good news
(to hail means to greet / salute / shout out to. )

to teach doctrines of men as truth is wrong no matter who does it or why... to add to or take away from the word is wrong no matter who does it or why, to purposely degrade anothers faith is wrong no matter who does it or why....

Maybe referring to this...

And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
(Luk 1:28)

Hail = G5463χαίρω
chairō
Thayer Definition:
1) to rejoice, be glad
2) to rejoice exceedingly
3) to be well, thrive
4) in salutations, hail!
5) at the beginning of letters: to give one greeting, salute
Part of Speech: verb
A Related Word by Thayer’s/Strong’s Number: a primary verb
Citing in TDNT: 9:359, 1298

...not exactly to worship as in Hail Caesar!

How do you want to keep it? It was an historical event. Not our event.
Following your logic you would have to pray all the dialogues ever taken place in Bible, from Adam to Apostles.

Protestant do not meet Mary like the angel did at the time when she was blessed among women because she was bearing the Messiah. Why should we hail her when we have no contact with her?

But they recognise that it was a once for all event, and that later she proved herself very much not blessed.

It has nothing to do with her being a whore. It is simply that we recognise that she was an ordinary woman whom God chose to bless on that occasion.

we renounce totally your unscriptural view of her,

Matthew 12:46-50(KJV)[SUP]46 [/SUP]While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
[SUP]47 [/SUP]Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
[SUP]48 [/SUP]But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
[SUP]49 [/SUP]And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
[SUP]50 [/SUP]For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

because it was spoken to her about one event in her life. She was highly favoured (not full of grace} because God had chosen her to bare the Messiah. She did not continue as highly favoured. Later she proved herself very much unblessed and had to be renounced by Jesus Himself (Mark 3,33-35)

and well they might and do because Mary did not die and could not die and would not be allowed to die if I was God and had her for mother - anyway why do you believe she died since it is not in the Bible - wincam

exactly what I am trying to point out that it is you and others who have and are renouncing her and here even daring to go so far as to suggest that her only son rejected her - not even on the cross did He do that - shame on you if you are truly a Christian imho - wincam

Not once did Jesus address Mary as His mother. You seem to obstinately overlook the fact that Jesus Christ said His mother was anyone who did the will of God. Also, Scripture does not teach what you proclaim concerning her not dying. That is a Roman Catholic invention, one you are in fact mandated to believe as a member of your institution, since it is one of the two ex cathedra dogmas.

There are many people whose deaths are not mentioned, do you think they are all still alive?
Remember the bible warns against teaching false doctrine

We reject things not mentioned in the bible if they contradict the rest of Scripture as a whole...

And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,
(Heb 9:27)

You'd have to show us in Scripture where it shows that Mary never died.

Mary was not deity, she was human the same as we are. Christ died for her sins. She died the same as we all do.

No one is renouncing Mary. She isn't deity. She was obedient to the will of the Lord. She was faithful. But she has no power, she was human. Fully human.
