It amazes me how many believers outright sow discord and tear people down... Cat fighting over silly things. let's elevate our minds to be like Christ and come together to defeat the enemy who has snuck in an infiltrated our body.... Anything negative comes from him, let's use who we are and kick his butt out where he belongs... Let's go after all he's taken and regain control..

Here's the weekly 'change the forums' post. Too bad the 1000 others that have preceded yours were ineffectual as this one will be. In 5 years I don't think I've seen one person even temporarily phased by such posts. The people most responsible have a need to be right in all things. So until their pride brings them down they will not stop.

I'm not naive. I'm under no impression that I can turn anything around. History shows that people are always more willing to stay how they are... I'm still allowed to post

The only way to defeat the enemy is with the truth of the word of God. The problem is that the traditions of men have been set in stone for over 1700 years now. So to bring up the word of God now and shine it on falsehood, contrasting the word with men's devious wrestings, only incurrs the wrath of many christians.

Instead of taking a fresh look at what His word actually says on certain issues, christians tend to, with kicking and sceaming, cling to what their pulpit masters bave been feeding them for years. The poor slob that dares question any sacred cows of christendom will be slandered and accused of having pride, being a maverick, being a cult, being bitter, being hateful, and the list goes on and on.

Crying out 'The emperor has no clothes' will get you a bloody nose and the right foot of fellowship.

If you dont believe me, check out all my threads where i continually use God's clear, unmistakable word in defining the 'body of Christ.' Or just read some of the responses to what im writing now.

So the 'dont ask, dont tell' policy is what most of the 'church' practices and to dare bring up the 'word' that conflicts with cherished norms
and beliefs of the organized 'church', is a no no. No boat rockers please!

We can sing, with our hands raised 'Open the eyes of my heart Lord...' forever, but if we reject God's word and direction, our eyes will remain shut.

Christian or not Christian, people are still people, so it seems?

Even the disciples were not exempt from discord - Luke 9:46.

It would be interesting and edifying, I think, if the ones who started such threads would state their doctrinal affiliation. I'd bet 90% or more of them would be a mix of super-mega-awesome grace and super-mega-awesome law.

My hope rests fully in the regeneration and new world to come.

We are disappointed by this world because we have a sense of what that Kingdom God has prepared for us will be like and this one falls short of that expectation.

Take heart brothers and sisters ... Just a short while longer and Jesus will return, or we will go to Him.

Didn't read where I said you weren't allowed to do anything. All I did as point out the fact that it has been tried before. And that you accuse me of such is the typical behavior that goes on here. Does it feel ironic to you to make a thread like this, and in that same thread, act the way you're complaining about? Putting words in my mouth that reflect nothing at all of what I said. That's not sowing discord?

True,

Luke 22:24
And there was also a strife among them,
which of them should be accounted the greatest.

In contrast it says,

Phil 2:3
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory;
but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

The same is shown in tose yet carnal also

1 Cr 3:3
For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions,
are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

OR

they could be normal folks who are fed up to the nines with the judgmental tudes and condemnatory posts and just general dissent and emotional backwater that sadly passes for educational posts on how everyone is still really unsure of salvation

I bet MOST OF US HERE would appreciate some calmer waters on which to sail our little vessels...

some people do not seem at all happy unless they are trying to crash the little vessels into the rocks with their big bad rantings about how people are not really saved even though Jesus says they are

...that would definitely cause discord even within our own selves. James says to be double-mined is unstable in all his ways.

James 3:14-18 (NASB)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth.

[SUP]15 [/SUP] This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic.

[SUP]16 [/SUP] For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.

[SUP]17 [/SUP] But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.

[SUP]18 [/SUP] And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

James 4:11 (NASB)
[SUP]11 [/SUP] Do not speak against one another, brethren. He who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it.

If one starts a thread speaking against all the nastiness and bickering that goes on here what difference does it make what their doctrines is? How would it be edifying? How would it be relevant at all?
And really, what you're saying is that only those who, in your mind, come from more extreme views make any effort to speak against all of this? That doesn't speak well to the rest of the more moderate group then, who would seem to be ok with the way things are done here.

IMO that's just part of their methodology to try to shut down their opposition because they feel threatened because they can't convincingly defend their doctrines:

  1. Stir up trouble
  2. Blame it on the opposition
  3. Offer a solution

Some sow discord because of pure nastiness, nothing to do with correction. They get their kicks that way.
Others buck up against scripture thus causing discord.
Orhers teach clear scripture to a wayward 'church' thus inciting discord from the rebellious.

But dont be deceived by the 'Kumbaya' doctrine. Accepting any ole devilish belief so long as we all are group hugging all the time.

Again, the only way to kick the enemy out is with sound doctrine and teaching. That will untie God's hands in our midst.

See: Matt. 23 to get an idea of what God feels about religious garbage.

I am in agreement that we should not sow discord and tear people down! Amen! Is it done on this forum? Sure is sometimes.

But please do not identify all disagreements as simply cat fighting or that any disagreements is the "enemy who has snuck in". Yes, indeed that may be the case at times.

I have been on this forum only two weeks, and have had sharp disagreements with some good brothers: It has been good for me. It has sharpened by beliefs and faith in God.

But, your point is well taken that we really need to watch our attitudes. But just because two Christian brothers disagree doesn't mean they need to be enemies.

Proverbs 6:

16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

I love to discuss Scripture with other believers. I am amazed at how my faith is increased by looking at God's Word and examining it with others. I love Prov 27:17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

I truly believe that a person who does this , has not allowed Jesus to come in and truly change the heart , once we really truly experience the love of God it changes us , but we have to allow the heart to be changed that's the key , and to ask God to help us to help us to keep our heart like his ...something that I am learning ....Although love is communicated in a number of ways, our words often reflect the condition of our heart !!
