What sins? Those are gone. Like Messy said, God has thrown them into the depths of the sea. (Micah 7:19)

They are as far away from us as the east is from the west. (Psalm 103:12)

Never to be remembered again. (Hebrews 10:17)

They are covered, and will never again be counted against us. (Romans 4:7-8)

They have been canceled, and nailed to the cross. (Colossians 2:14)

Sins of the past can sometimes creep into your mind and torment you. You feel like a monster. You feel sad that you ever did such a thing, even going to thoughts of not being able to live with yourself. Its dark. I can easily see this being answered as a work of the enemy, but beyond that how does one live with what they've done in the past? How does one move on?

Do you alienate yourself from what you did and see it for what it was? The flesh. Do you see yourself in light of who God calls you and not what you were? How do you find peace in your heart and mind to let the past be, just that, the past and move forward?

One mindset that might be helpful is to realize that the past does not define you but the present moment does. Its what you do in the present that counts, because it informs you of who you are today. Even that isn't fully accurate, because our identity isn't even so much found in us, but Christ. He has given us His righteousness, and He has set us free from sin's dominion. VVe are new creations, dead to sin and alive unto God. VVhat shackled us has been broken, and we walk in liberty. Not towards licentiousness, but in the light by God's grace.

VVhat are your answers to some of these questions? How do you get over the sins of the past and carry on? How does one live with what they've done? Is it found in God's forgiveness and that He has through the blood of Christ made our sins white as snow? Discuss, share your thoughts.
One does not get over his or her sins. God give one his Holy Spirit who gets him or her over their sins.

Christianity is about becoming a Child of God. Jesus came here to defeat Satan/sin, and in doing that he made it possible for us to become Children of God.

(1 John 3:5-6) “Now you know that he appeared in order to abolish sin, and that in him there is no sin; anyone who lives in God does not sin, and anyone who sins has never seen him or known him.”

His sacrifice wiped away all of our past sin, and purified us from all unrighteousness. Then Jesus gave us his Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit teaches him or her to know God, and gives them the grace to keep God’s Word.

God’s Children keep God’s Word and will not be judged on the last day.

Those who are not children of God will be judged by the Words Jesus spoke.

(John 12:47-48) “If anyone hears my words and does not keep them faithfully, it is not I who shall condemn him, since I have come not to condemn the world, but to save the world: he who rejects me and refuses my words has his judge already: the word itself that I have spoken will be his judge on the last day.”

Above all, love one another deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
--But now, I've raised another question. HOW does one love. Not to break the intent
of this fabulous topic...short answer LOVE. I desire that fruit of the Holy Spirit
exponentially.

Love is a gift from God. First one needs to love God. To love God one needs to keep his Commandments. To be able to keep God’s Commandments one has to give God his or her life, and follow him. To be able to follow Jesus Christ our Lord and God one needs the guidance of the Holy Spirit who gives him or her the grace to do so.

(John 14: 23) “Anyone who loves me will keep my word and my Father will love him, and we shall come to him and make a home in him.”

(John 14:21) “Anybody who receives my commandments and keeps them will be one who loves me; and anybody who loves me will be loved by My Father, and I shall love him and show myself to him.”

Makes perfect sense that God gave us likes and dislikes of our own and that He wants us to deny them. Because that is sorta what it sounds like you are saying.

But if love is a gift of the Holy Spirit, should we be required to earn it via keeping commandments? Granted this is a fine line of discussion, my early years of my saved life was immersed in a pentecostal baseline of belief which i now believe was a method to control the truth of freedom in Christ in order to in fact control the attendees and their assets.

That is what is said. We are servants of our Lord and God, and we are to always be obedient servants. God’s Will is to be our will forever. Jesus once told me to give him the first few moments of every situation. I ask or Jesus tells me to do or not to do everything that is done by me.
Read what the Apostles said. Paul opened his letters by often saying a slave of Jesus Christ.

Yes!
One needs to prove he or she loves God, Jesus told us that.

(John 14: 23) “Anyone who loves me will keep my word and my Father will love him, and we shall come to him and make a home in him.”

Christ Himself also calls us His friend. He came as a suffering servant so there is also that side to Him. Jesus doesn't want you licking His boots 24/7/365. Thats what Nazis expect of their subjects....what kinda friend is that?

To what extent do we prove that love? Doesn't He know our hearts?

Did Jesus Christ call you a friend? No he called his disciples friends, and that was because they were doing just as he told them to do.

Read to what extent. Your heart means your spirit? Then you need to obey your spirit.

Then HE is not speaking to you, sir...
For you to say that HIS WORDS were only for HIS DISCIPLES then...than today, No...GOD does NOT speak to us by HIS SON?

But HE does.
And therefore HE also calls us HIS FRIENDS...
'For a servant doesn't know what HIS MASTER is doing...

But we do...and HIS WORK then is the same WORK today...

"GO"...and be MY WITNESSES.

If HE isn't speaking to HIS DISCIPLES today, then those who claim to be HIS WITNESSES should not be speaking either.

I have much more to tell you but you can not bear it now...but when HE comes, THE SPIRIT of TRUTH, whom I will send from THE FATHER, HE will lead you to all TRUTH...HE will not speak of HIMSELF but what HE hears HE will make known to you...and HE shall glorify ME for HE shall take from ME and give to you. All that is the FATHER"S is MINE...this is why I say, HE will take from what is MINE and give to you...I will not leave you as orphans...I WILL COME TO YOU.

Thats a good insight. For those sins of the past can be amended by love. To those that you've wronged, you can reconcile through love. That peace we may seek for our wrongs can be found by being loving towards those we once hurt. It seems love can bring peace to your heart, especially in reconciliation.

What is THE FATHER and SON doing in the man in whom they have made their home?
speaking?
Or remaining quiet?

Are you a disciple of Jesus Christ? If you are a disciple then you will walk as Jesus walked.

(1 John 2:6) “But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did”

If you still sin then you have never seen Jesus not know Jesus Christ.

(1 John 3:5-6) “Now you know that he appeared in order to abolish sin, and that in him there is no sin; anyone who lives in God does not sin, and anyone who sins has never seen him or known him.”

(Luke 14:33) “So in the same way, none of you can be my disciple unless he gives up all his possessions.”

So tell me again are you a disciple of Jesus Christ? Jesus said he would call his own out by name, and they would only follow him. Has Jesus called you out by name and are you only following him? You can’t go where you want if you follow Jesus Chris.

VVhat does this have to do with the topic of this thread? Do you mind not derailing this thread, so people can discuss overcoming past sin and moving forward in life? I would appreciate it, as it is you're bringing some negativity to this thread by presenting a relationship with God as legalistic and burdensome.

VVe are His children, we are family. Not just friends, but blood bought children. Adopted by the Spirit of Adoption. Can't be any closer, He resides inside of you as you are His temple. God is your Father, why are you trying to distance God through self-works when Jesus has brought us reconciliation? No need to answer, just get back on topic please.
