Who "rights" are we protecting by going to war? Ours or the very Rich?

We are protecting the "rights" of the rich, not the rights of the poor who are downtrodden by the rich people.

Its the poor people who fight in the wars, not the rich people. Its the poor people who die for this Country, not the rich people.

Unlike many famous veterans, Eddie Albert (star of Green Acres)joined the military after he had found success as an actor. His abilities coincided fortuitously with the needs of th e military. Albert toured Mexico as a clown and high-wire artist, but was actually working for Army intelligence to take pictures of U-boats before World War II. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and was discharged a short year later so that he would be able to accept an officer position in the Naval Reserve.
During the Battle of Tarawa, Albert earned a Bronze Star with Combat "V". He fought in the first wave of combat that lasted for three days. After most of the shooting was over, he was sent back to the site of the battle to salvage any equipment he could find. Because of coral reefs in the area, Marines weren't able to land directly on the beach and had to get off their boats 500 yards from shore. Enemy combatants started picking them off, and soon the waters were filled with over 100 wounded and many more dead. Albert disregarded his mission to grab equipment and began pulling marines to safety. He took 47 in total, and oversaw the rescue of 30 more.


There were plenty of rich kids in the Service when I served during the Vietnam Era. One of my best buds was a rich kids, and I even visited him in the Home near L.A. his Parents gave him after he got out of the Air Force, swimming pool and all.

I wish I had slept thru American History...but it was mandatory, just like the Theory of Evolution that was crammed down our throats.

Can't say I watched the vid, but is that Arnold? You gotta be kiddin if it is. Schwarzenegger, the golden boy. Hey man, this is not the movies. Check his record more closely. Something don't quite add up. I wonder what it could be?

It is possible by a stretch of the imagination that patriotism is Biblical, but do not say in your heart that God honors any flag of any nation, for we have but One Banner.

Living in Spain, I see the same "type" of people here. These people think God is a Spaniard. My observation over the years in more than twenty countries has experienced people in all countries with this illness, or demonic oppression. I call it this because these people go to the extreme of excluding fellow children of God from what they consider to be the only manner in which to believe and live.

The same holds true for skin colors........God does not prefer one skin over another, actually He does not like skin at all, He sees all in the Spirit as we will be with Him forever...........in our glorified bodies that is.


So VCO if i read this correctly you are putting Patriotism above God?

We are to follow what God says, not what the USA says.

i don't consider this to be actual patriotism...i would regard the attitude you are describing to be part of the counterfeit patriotism i referred to in my post...

nationalism is not of God, we are citizens of the Kingdom of God. it is national pride which has led to christians warring against one another.

2) How does 1 Peter 2:13-14 apply to a governmental system of representative democracy?

3) How does Romans 1 apply to a system where the founding documents say things like:

....That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government....But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government

In the Fifties when I was growing up, Veterans coming home were a VERY BIG DEAL. Flag waving especially on the Fourth of July, Veterans Day, and Memorial Day, was a VERY BIG DEAL. Veterans were invited to ride on the floats in the Fourth of July. When the Color Guard carried the Flag down the Street, EVERYONE Stood and proudly put their hand over their hearts and Veterans Saluted, and some shed some tears, remembering those who did not make it home. NOBODY, not even ONCE showed disrespect for the FLAG in the City that I grew up in. I saw NOBODY even threaten to Burn the Flag, I saw NOBODY spit on it, I saw NOBODY, throw it on the Ground, I saw NOBODY wipe their feet on it, I saw NOBODY Stand on the FLAG, and I SAW NOBODY TURN THE FLAG UPSIDE DOWN; which is an INSULT TO VETERANS. The Red Stripes, stand for the Americans who shed their blood fighting under OLD GLORY, and to turn it upside down for any reason, (other than to signal for help, or warn other troops that their position has been overrun by the enemy), is disrespecting that shed blood represented by the red stripes, symbolically turning it upside down to pour that blood out on the ground. Back then it was considered like slapping Veterans in the face.

When I came home from the Military Service, Nobody welcomed me home except my parents, my siblings, and very few close friends. The only reason I was not SPIT on at Travis AFB, was my plane landed at 2:30 AM. I guess the hippies did not stay up that late. Patriotism improved for a couple decades, then cooled off again, then 9/11 fired it up for a few years, and NOW IT growing cold once again. Once UNBELIEVABLE TABOOS of DISRESPECT are being tolerated, and cheered by many in this so called modern Society, and seen as ENTERTAINMENT ON YOUTUBE. I sometimes CANNOT BELIEVE that attitudes of MANY, who just accept it, with an I DON'T CARE ATTITUDE. So YES it is even worse than ever before: Flag Burnings, Standing wiping one's feet on the FLAG, Spitting on the Flag, and even turning the FLAG upside down to make a POLITICAL STATEMENT, which MOST VETERANS STILL FIND VERY OFFENSIVE. The disrespect for OUR FLAG once associated with the Hanoi Jane movement, is running RAMPANT once again:

As one who believes Jesus Christ, I can allow no patriotism to any worldly banner.

I believe all who believe Jesus are children of God, citizens of the eternal Kingdom, our Kingdom with our Savior the King.

We have been given One Banner to rally to, He is Jesus Christ.

I cannot be a patriot in the United Kingdom against family in Christ just because they are errantly patriotic to some other flag or flags............this would be fals patriotism in the sight of our Father. We are loyal to the Father and all of His childre.

I'm thankful God placed me in this country and I'm blessed to be a part of it.

That being said, in recent years I've stopped saying the pledge of allegiance. My allegiance is to God alone. He supercedes everything, including my country. He alone is worth my allegiance.

I absolutely submit to the rules and laws of the country. I'm even a government employee.

It's allegiance that I'm talking about. I will always respect and obey the laws of my country (unless they contradict God's laws.) But my allegiance is to God alone.

I like Norway, the physical Norway with fjords and mountains etc. I wouldn't consider myself a patriot.
While Norway is ranked among the top "best countries to live in", I know we have our good sides and our bad sides like all other countries....

Should it ever come to war, I'd probably feel what Runrig says in this song:

But I cannot go "for the King"
I cannot fight anymore
