A Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ our Lord and God, and lives as Jesus lived. Jesus always did his Father in heaven’s will. A Christian also always does God’s will. Jesus made it possible for those who he called to defeat Satan/sin.

God’s also made it possible for those who he has called to become children of God. God’s Children always do their Father’s will.

(1 John 2:4 -6) “Anyone who says, 'I know him', and does not keep his commandments, is a liar, refusing to admit the truth." but when anyone does obey what he has said, God's love comes to perfection in him." We can be sure that we are in God only when the one who claims to be living in him is living the same kind of life as Christ lived.” Jerusalem Bible

(1 John 3:9-10) “No one who is a child of God sins because God's seed remains in him. Nor can he sin, because he is a child of God. This is what distinguishes the children of God from the children of the devil: whoever does not live uprightly and does not love his brother is not from God” New Jerusalem bible

(1 John 3:5-6) “Now you know that he appeared in order to abolish sin, and that in him there is no sin; anyone who lives in God does not sin, and anyone who sins has never seen him or known him.”

(1 John 2:6) “Whoever claims to remain in him must act as he acted.”

(Romans 8:1-4) “The reason, therefore, why those who are in Christ Jesus are not condemned, is that the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. God has done what the Law, because of our unspiritual nature, was unable to do. God dealt with sin by sending his own Son in a body as physical as any sinful body, and in that body God condemned sin he did this in order the Law’s just demands might be satisfied in us, who behave not as our unspiritual nature but as the spirit dictates.”

I agree that a Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ and wants to live as Jesus lived. And God has given us the provision to defeat sin and Satan.

The problem is that we are still humans in the flesh and can be quite self-centered! When (if) we sin then it is not God's fault, but our own.

A Christian has been given the knowledge of the truth, by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit also gives a Christian the grace/power to resist Satan/sin. A Christian that deliberately commits a sin is lying to the Holy Spirit, and that is insulting the Holy Spirit. Insulting the Holy Spirit is blaspheming the Holy Spirit. There is no forgiveness for blaspheming the Holy Spirit.

(Acts 5:1-11) The Fraud of Ananias and Sapphira, Peter said they lied to the Holy Spirit, and they will never be forgiven.

(Hebrews 10:26-31) “If, after we have been given knowledge of the truth, we should deliberately commit any sins, then there is no longer any sacrifice for them. There is left only the dreadful prospect of judgment and of the fiery wrath that is to devour your enemies. Anyone who disregards the Law of Moses is ruthlessly put to death on the word of two witnesses or three; and you may be sure that anyone who tramples on the Son of God, and who treats the blood of the covenant which sanctified him as if it were not holy, and who insults the Spirit of grace, will be condemned to a far severer punishment. We are all aware who it was that said: Vengeance is mine; I will vindicate his people. It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”

According to this scripture..anyone who has ever sinned will be blotted out of the book.

Exodus 32:33 (NASB)
[SUP]33 [/SUP] The LORD said to Moses, "Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him out of My book.

I see now from some of your other posts that you believe that a Christian does not sin, and I guess if he would sin, he is damned??

I guess you see yourself as someone who has not sinned for 40 years? I guess it that is truly the case, you are past where I am! I surely strive to follow my Lord and I am not of the persuasion that we "sin every day all the time"; I do believe we have the power and means available to live in victory over sin, but unfortunately I fail too often. I overeat (gluttony), I am fearful of witnessing when I should, I have gotten angry with my children, and more . . . I won't excuse my sins -- it is my issue and I admit it! But I am glad that the blood of Jesus Christ ongoingly is cleansing me from each and every sin.

If you are using the verses in I John to try to prove that the Christian does not sin, I am sorry, it just doesn't say that. A very basic look at the tenses of the Greek verbs shows these are present tense verbs that say the Christian will not practice or continue in sin.

If you want to argue for the King James Version as being the only and final correct translation, you may do that, but that makes an English version the basis for Scripture. I'm sorry - the New Testament was not written in English and inspiration of Scripture was closed long before the KJV was written.

Your understanding of that scripture say not one will be in God’s Book, because scripture says everyone has sinned.
Is it also your assumption that no one will enter the kingdom of God?

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

Your string of observations cannot be confirmed by Scripture:

deliberately committing a sin = lying to the Holy Spirit
lying to the Holy Spirit = insulting the Holy Spirit
insulting the Holy Spirit = blaspheming the Holy Spirit

Conclusion: deliberately committing a sin = blaspheming the Holy Spirit

Where in Scripture does it say this?

Just another way people who want to believe they are Christian, and scripture tells them they are not.
People need to find a way to ignore or change what scripture says.
Tell me if one has to live as Jesus lived to be in Christ, do some word tense make it say that Jesus just did not make a habit of sinning?
(1 John 2:5 -6) “Whoever says, 'I know him' without keeping his commandments, is a liar, and truth has no place in him. My point was in posting that scripture - is that we need to read all scripture with other scripture. AND...this is the most important part - we must interpret all scripture through the lens of the finished work of Christ. We are saved by grace through faith in what Jesus has already done for us.

I asked you before if you obeyed all of Jesus' commands. But come to find out you didn't obey the one where Jesus said "Go and preach the gospel first in Jerusalem, then Judea, then Samaria..."

If you didn't do that - you have not obeyed all of Jesus' commands and according to "your application" of some scripture - if you sin - you are a child of the devil.

Context, context, context is needed in all scriptures.

Taking scriptures randomly out of context - we can make them say whatever we want.

You are free to say whatever you want about the texts in I John, but that doesn't change what they actually say.

You have a Jerusalem Bible?..maybe you did go to Jerusalem then and perhaps you have obeyed all of Jesus' commands after all?...but did you preach the gospel there too?..what about Judea and Samaria?...did you go there as well - they are part of His command too?.....

See....the blot is thickening with this commandment thing without "qualifying" first the finished work of Christ into our thinking.

What is the will of God?

I don't see anything even close to the conclusions below (that you made earlier) in that Scripture?

insulting the Holy Spirit = blaspheming the Holy Spirit

Conclusion: deliberately committing a sin = blaspheming the Holy Spirit

There is a lot of man-made assumptions there I see that he has done. So, let's flesh this theory out in real life.

Have we ever in our life sinned?..if so, it was a wilful sin that was committed and in "this application" of scripture - we all have blasphemed the Holy Spirit.

This theory is not looking good for us. Thank God for the true gospel of the grace of Christ eh?

Then the Holy Spirit must not have explained it to you. One can never come to the knowledge of the truth unless he or she is taught by God.
(1 Corinthians 2:10-16) “These are the very things that God has revealed to us through the Spirit, for the Spirit reaches the depts. Of everything, even the depths of God. After all, the depths of a man can only be known by his own spirit, not by any other man, and in the same way the depths of God can only be known by the Spirit of God-----------“

Hmmmmmmmmm! Are you saying the Holy Spirit explained it that way to you, but that when it was inspired by the Spirit to the writer of Hebrews that is says something different?

Problem with context is the Bible will always be used apart from its actual context when we have people who put it in their own. They put all the emphasis on Jesus finished work so they can relax and ride on His coattails.
If we in fact have no work to do why then must we deny ourselves take our cross and follow Him? If He did it all, what is left to follow Him for? Bc we have things or work to do.. Did Paul always write in vain about how we must drop our weight and sin and press forward?
We have work to do and changes to make, we just don't have to sacrifice for ourselves for salvation. That was the gift. He did it for us.

I agree ....but in reality this type of thinking has no idea what the finished work of Christ actually is if they make statements like this.
