I am struggling and battling with my sinful nature in certain areas. I want to stop certain behavior completely, but that's going to hard considering some things I have are severe addictions. God can deliver me from anything nothing is impossible for God. Also if we know something is wrong but we do it anyway to get a momentary feel good moment that's much worse because you deliberately said to yourself you're doing it this one time besides you're human you'll fall mistakes happen you justify one slip up. You say to yourself what will it hurt. I am not using a license to sin, but quitting is hard without him

really, it is truly quite simple, either Love Jesus more than yourself, or love your addictions more than Him...

by the way, this can take a 'life-time'...

The first thing to do is fully commit to the choice to turn away form any cherished sin, then each and every time pray for strength in the battle, even if its a hundred times a day... if you really do this you will be the overcomer you are called to be

As someone who is in recovery I think that there are two very important things to know. The 1st and most important thing is knowing who you really are in Christ. This is a very difficult thing and many on this site do not know their true identity. I would recommend Romans 6,7 and 8. The other key is to attend meetings. You can go the AA route though I prefer Celebrate Recovery. It is a Christ based program. Either way, the only way to stay sober is to help others. Jesus can and will get you there but you must also put in the effort. Find a meeting you like, get a sponsor and get involved. It isn't easy but it's a whole lot easier than being drunk or high all the time. Also please know that while it will seem like a huge challenge at first, it will get better with time. There is no greater feeling than sharing and helping others going through what you are going through now. I will pray for you.

Ok thanks for the insights and advice. What about smoking cigarettes it's not expressly meantioned in scripture as far as I am aware. However, it does mention keeping the temple holy and pure. I have heard of the church also being the temple of God so it might apply to all things like smoking, drugs, alcohol, and sexual impurities. Am I wrong in this interpretation or not.
