I am wondering if the bible is as relevant in today's world as it was 2000 years ago
Can the teachings in the bible stand the test of our time and the world we live in now and in the future

Yes,because people can follow God all through the history of mankind, and it is the same message all through the Bible, and applies at any time regardless if the things change in the world, for the theme of the Bible is God wants us to acknowledge Him,and represent goodness, and that can apply at any time. That is the main theme of the Bible, and the only way people think it would not apply,is if they do not want to acknowledge God,and represent goodness, for that is the theme of it,which can apply at any time, and does not change.

People look at the Bible as if it is obscure today,as if it has strange teachings, that do not apply today, but the Bible is not mysterious, and hard to understand,as some people might think, because the only message, and teaching,is to acknowledge God,and represent goodness, and there is nothing other than that, where it could apply back then, but not now,for that can apply at any time.

The Bible can never be outdated, and irrelevant at any time, for God only has one desire, that we recognize Him,and represent goodness, and that is the only message of the Bible.

Hello. Well the Bible has stood the test of time. It has also stood the test of archeology.

Some say that the Bible is irrelevant today because it was a different society back then. Well we still have the same problems as back then. As long as man lives there is sin. As long as there is sin the Bible will be relevant.

As far as archeology...well we are still uncovering places mentioned in the Bible. Gods way of saying "see I told you".

As long as we can take the Biblical teachings and show how they are relevant today it will stand the test of time. The only way the Bible cannot stand the test of time is if every Christian in the world lost their faith and "gave up". I myself dont see that ever happening as, i for one wont give up preaching Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

If the cannon of scripture took 1500 years to be written as Gods word spread and the bible is compiled of these collective writings I just wonder should the bible have stopped , should there be collective scripture through the ages of how gods word kept spreading from generation to generation race to race time to time and with those writings a synchrinisity relating to who and where we are today that would be more prevalent to his teachings and not really the belief of his word or the building of faith

Truth does not go out of style or become culturally irrelevant.

I believe there are writings that were and are "inspired" by God but cannot be added to the Bible as "Gods inspired Word" per say. What we have as the Bible is what God wanted and wants as the Bible. We as humans cannot add to it or take away ftom it because God "decreed" it so and finished. We may not be able to add to it because God finished it but there are still writings that we can use. IF AND ONLY IF, they agree with the Bible 100%.

I know this may be hard to understand but through prayer and Gods guidance we can find and use those writings. Many will argue against this but if it follows Hods Word 100% how can we argue against it? Just my view but think about that. There have been many books writen dealing with todays society that pertain to today and also follow Gods Word that we can use.

Yes magenta but that's gods truth you speak upon ,what we today interpet as quality of being true is to our own satisfaction in today's world , I think the world around us stands testament to us deciding what state of God's truth we live by and teach forward , you make it sound real and certain with your statement but the reality is quite different from what I see and understand from all Christians today.

One argument against the Bible pertaining to today or that it is now irrelevant is that it was a written too a different culture. There is only one major problem with that argument and it it clearly mentioned throughout the Bible. Jesus is the only way. That has never changed either in the old or new testament. Faith in God in the Old, faith in Jesus (God) in the New. Faith is the main subject in both the Old and New and that will never change. No matter what happens in the future it is faith that will save us. If God were to ever make a "third covenant" (lol) it would still be centered on faith.

The world we live in is fallen along with all of mankind whose sinful nature has warped everything, and seemingly increases exponentially over time, even as civilization advances and some have a greatly improved standard of living from what it was centuries ago. And yet human nature has not changed. Imagine if you can the world as it would be if people followed even the last six of the ten commandments, those having to do with our relationships with others. Can you imagine such a world? It would be unrecognizable from the world as we see it today.

What I see and understand from today's people of religion is a practice of faith that has overtaken the practice of values of that faith , a loss of practice of the interactive teachings of god but not the same loss of practice in prayer or mindful praise to God in organised religion . I am of the opinion of today's Christians that the acts of faith that are preached by jesus and written in the bible that were strongly represented with the interaction of another person ,outside of a temple and practised everyday not just on the sabbath , have been surpassed by a want to give reverence to faith instead of those acts ,I think today's Christians practice faith in a way that complys with how religion has changed without realising the teachings of jesus have always been the same

I hear what you are saying. Unfortunately that is true but also untrue. What i mean is this....many people call themselves "Christian" but arent truely Christian. I have seen it a lot in my life. It is like playing a role in a movie. You act and want to be the character but really arent the character. A true Christian will put others first. Though i will admit we arent perfect and sometimes can be very selfish.

Also what you can be seeing is a good bit of legalism. Meaning that they feel they can attain salvation by following certain rules and regulations. True Christianity is not that way. Its not a bunch of rules we have to follow but a faith in Jesus and understanding of Gods saving Grace.

I know it can be confusing and very cloudy sometimes knowing or seeing the difference but there is a difference. There is a song that has a line "they will know we are Christians by our love" and that is true. To know and see the difference you need to spend time with the person to actually see the difference. As i said we are human so can at times be selfish so you cannot judge by just one meeting but by continual meeting with the person.

Yeah sometimes it isnt easy but there really is a difference between a "true" Christian and someone "just playing a role".

1 COR 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

To the called by God, the gospel is life.

But those who refute it ... shall perish.

I can say that plenty of what is written here is valid IMHO.
However, the Word of God is timeless even though it was written thousands of years ago, and over thousands of years for that matter.
In the context of Christianity the mission of church is missions.
I believe that in western Christianity this reality is not anywhere near as cogent is it ought to be.
However there are still plenty of churches all over the globe that preach the truth, the light, and the life of the Word of God.

No I have not met all Christians but if I would like to I could find a congregation of them them pretty easily on a regular basis giving reverence to God in large numbers on a certain day in a certain place I just wish I could say exactly the same in regard to displaying the acts of faith taught and shown to us through jesus maybe the world and society would be a better place .

Jesus didn't want us to fall or fail , he wanted us live our lives joyful and accepting of the ways that would give us peace and everlasting love for each other and his ways, to be able to attend sabbath and rejoice not for the preaching of his word but for living it within ourselves and on toward others around us to rejoice together for the lives we are leading and the way we are leading them through the teachings of jesus we haven't failed we have simply changed

the world will always be the world. God has condemned it and will one day judge it.

if you look carefully, i think you will find Christians making differences in the lives of those around them.
most often, these differences are small, except to the people being helped. :)

is there some way in which we might help you?
i haven't looked at your profile page, but have you received Christ as your Savior?
