The people of Nazareth, Jesus’ hometown, saw Jesus in the natural. They said of Him, “Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? And His sisters, are they not all with us?” (Matthew 13:55–56) They saw Jesus in the natural. They did not see Him as God in the flesh. As a result, He could not do many mighty works there. (Matthew 13:58)
Today, many people, including some philosophers, see Jesus of Nazareth as a good person who led an exemplary life. They feel that if all of us could live our lives like Him, the world would be a better place.
They don’t see Jesus as the bread of God who came from heaven to give life to the world. (John 6:33) They don’t see Him as the one who came to give them living water, so that they would never thirst again. (John 4:14) They don’t see Him as the Lamb of God, who took away the sin of the world. (John 1:29) They don’t receive from Him what they need because they don’t esteem Him rightly.
Jesus did not come just to set a good example for man to follow. He came to be our Redeemer. (Galatians 3:13) He came to be our righteousness. (1 Corinthians 1:30) He came to be our shepherd, so that we will not lack anything. (Psalm 23:1)
Jesus asked His disciples once, “But who do you say that I am?” How you answer this question depends on how you see Jesus. And how you see Jesus will determine how and what you receive from Him. Good stuff........and, while it may sound trite, I see Jesus Christ in every way He is described in Scripture. Somewhere, I have a list of every description of Him that I used to read daily. What I do have now is a plaque that hangs on the wall that lists every Name He is known by in Scripture, and that pretty much sums up how I see Him, so I read it. It's right up on my living room wall where it is easy to see.......

Thanks for the post.

I see Jesus as

1. God - He is not limited in anything, but can do all things (he created the universe, he can save me)
2. Savior. - He in love came to earth as man, Suffered all the things he suffered, then endured the cross to rescue me from my spiritual death
3. King, He is (and will) king of kings and lord of lords.. He will one day rule wiht an iron rod, and evil that we see today, will put to an end
4. He is patient, Willing than non should perish, He allows this evil. knowing that because of it, Many will be saved.

Good post ladylynn! It gives us encouragement to keep our eyes on Jesus only.

I love when Jesus was on the mount of transfiguration and Moses and Elijah came and talked with Him. Peter says "It is good we are here - we can build 3 tabernacles". Then the bright cloud came over and the Father's voice says " This is My beloved Son, Hear Him!"

The law came through Moses, - and Elijah was the law restorer when Israel went after other idols. Peter wanted to put them on equal footing with Jesus but the Father stepped in and said "Hear Him!"

The Father had spoken and the disciples were on the ground when Jesus came and said "Don't be afraid"...and when they looked up they saw "Jesus only". We are to listen to Jesus only and not go by the old way of the Law which Moses and Elijah represented.

His life in us by the Holy Spirit within teaches us how to live by grace through faith in Christ.

The Father only speaks the language of the "Son" now.

Hebrews 1:1-3 (NASB)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]
God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways,

[SUP]2 [/SUP] in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.

[SUP]3 [/SUP] And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

The Transfiguration passage is one of my favorites - God was so clearly saying - and the Law and the Prophets RECOGNIZED - that the fulfillment of what they had done was here - "This is my beloved Son, HEAR HIM!"

Christ is the culmination and the Reality by whom we live and move and have our being in His New Covenant!

Christ is not the law. He is not a work of the law.
Nor is He the new law giver,

He tells us to Love,
(Yay!!)

Against which there is no law.
Christ is the redeemer for those who failed the Law

And then He supplies what He requires - by His Spirit producing in us His Fruit!

That is Grace! \o/

HEB. 12:2.
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him
endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

11PETER 2:20.
For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of
The Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end
is worse with them than the beginning.

1JOHN 1:7.
But if we walk in the Light, as He is in the Light, we have fellowship one with another,
and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.

1JOHN 5:5.
Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

REV. 14:12.
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the Commandments of God, and the Faith of Jesus.

Keeping our eyes on Jesus! The commandments of God are plainly written by John in 1John 3:23. It is always to believe in the Name of the Father's Son and to love on another.

1 John 3:23 (NASB)
[SUP]23 [/SUP] This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us.

We love now because He first loved us and He has poured His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit.( Romans 5:5)

1 John 4:19 (NASB)
[SUP]19 [/SUP]
We love, because He first loved us
.

Thank you Father for Your Son - our Lord and for Your love that is in our new hearts in Christ.

You guys are so encouraging!!! You have amazing answers and insight. I thought part of the message in this devotional for today was really interesting when it said how we see Jesus will determine what we receive from Him. So I imagine our goal would be to see Him in all His fullness eventually. I can't get away from believing that the most important aspect of Him for me is the lover of my soul and life.

I see Him (these days) as my Good Shepherd who leads me as a sheep in need. Reading Psalm 23 and putting my name there and claiming the reality of His love and watch care by faith. It changes my expectations in all aspects of life.

Thank you all for the wonderful words you posted.

Yes indeed we are instructed not to judge one another you know why....

“And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.” John 12:47

I would say off the top of my head, Jesus is my Enabler. He enables me to do all things. That was the verse that was picked for me when I was baptized years ago and those all things have been made personal as God see as persons; individuals.

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. Phil 4:13 some versions read through Him who strengthens me from within

I guess I could say alot about it, but then it might sound like I am making it about me LOL!

if I am going to directly answer the question 'how do I see Jesus', I would say like this:

walking on the water and looking right into my eyes and smiling with His hand outstretched to me and saying "come on. I've got you. it's ok."

and then of course everything else the Bible says about Him

James 4:12 (KJV)
Genesis 49:10
The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

Revelation 5:5
And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
