I am sure that God doesnt have a problem with crosses.. his son died on one for us all. Why not have it with us? As long as we dont start worshipping the cross and make a idol out of it I am sure he doesnt mind.

I am sure there are some people who "use" the cross as a symbol improperly, as with anything else, but most Christians see the cross as a reminder of what Jesus did for us. We dont worship the cross so i doubt God has a problem with it. Its not an "idol" its a "reminder".

Like any other object, except the cross has a more sincere and heartfelt representation for believers because of the work Christ did on the cross, it isn't that we have one in our home, around our neck, key chain, or some such.

Our God is what we worship and adore. As long as we are worshiping the Lord God, the Great I Am, everything else is ok in my opinion to have. A cross, a picture of Christ, a picture of the wife and kids, whatever.

What we worship is the key to is it acceptable to God.

(my thoughts)

my opinion is, that if someone kills my son with a knife, i could not use a wooden knife as a reminder,

the Son of God died on a cross, i think he (God) does not like to see that us, his children, are using the element that killed his son

Well it was Gods will to happen. On this cross he tore the veil so we may be free. Its a sign of freedom, Satan defeated forever, Gods kingdom reigns, Then his resurrection etc.. Its a sign of victory. I doubt God has a issue with it. Best is to talk to God himself if necessary I guess lol

Yes........and, I'm pretty sure I have read somewhere that God Himself used/uses "signs" to reveal things to mankind. He doesn't seem to have a problem with doing that. :)

I think there is nothing wrong with a cross as a symbol.

I think it is very wrong when cross becomes an idol (hello, RCC and Orthodox members).

To each his own, that is certainly your right. No worries though, one day soon, we will get to ask Him. But, what you do not like/believe should not be forced upon others who may not agree with you. Lets just agree to that. I won't make you wear a cross, you don't insist I destroy mine.

The Apostle said something like........"if for YOU it is a sin, then it is a sin......" But do not force others to conform to your convictions, because we do not conform to the convictions/ideologies of man, rather we conform to the Gospel of Christ.

BTW......Scripture also says something about "cursed is a man who hangs on a tree......." do you thing God considers Christ "cursed?"

My eldest son was riding a bicycle when he was hit from behind and killed by a negligent driver. I still own and drive an automobile, and his siblings, nieces and nephews all have and still ride bicycles. I don't think that God is more concerned about our heart than what we hang on the wall or around our neck.

Do you bow down and pray to a cross? If so, IMHO, that is worshiping an idol. I suggest that every time you see a cross, remember that God loved you so much that He let His Son be tortured and killed on a wooden thing like it, so that you and I could have eternal life and then thank God for the wonderful gift of eternal life.

he was cursed IN THAT MOMENT for you and me, he took away our sins. thats why we are debtors. we were guilty of his death

but no one 'murdered' Christ.
He said, no one has power to take His life, but He gave it, and has power both to give it and to take it up again ((John 10:18)) -- so He arose from the grave. He willingly offered Himself: He wasn't "killed"

what happened at the cross was not a defeat of Christ or a loss. it is victory!

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
(1 Corinthians 1:18)

it seems like a wrong thing - like the comparison you make, which is what the world would say - but understanding that He was acting as our Great Priest, offering Himself, this is the emblem of His victory over sin, for all who believe in Him, and of the super-great mercy of God the Father!

sometimes i think about this too, but i can't come up with an emblem of the empty tomb that is anywhere near as good as the cross, speaking in terms of 'design' and composition.

you know?
how are you going to wear an 'empty tomb' on a necklace? or even come up with a stylized image of an empty tomb that is immediately recognizable across 100's of cultures?

i know he is victorious, he won this war, and he was willing to receive that kind of death, but it was also the will of God that someone had to betray him, and to this issue the bible says "

[h=1]Matthew 26:24New King James Version (NKJV)[/h]24 The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.”

so in one way,God didnt like what judas did, i think it is the same with the cross

many christian say that there is nothing wrong with an image of God, or crosses or even angels but..

[h=1]Exodus 20New King James Version (NKJV)[/h]4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that isin the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;

it says HEAVEN. (God and his kingdom)
earth (humans)
and under the earth, (whatever is in there)

He became a curse so we may receive the blessing. :) Blessed be the name of the Lord!!!!

In other words, don't WORSHIP anything manmade.

Let's remember context, and use a little discernment here....

Othewise, statues would be sinful. And GI Joe dolls.
