if you ever mention Jesus being married it will really get people upset. why is it such a taboo question? if Jesus was married, what difference does it make? how does it change anything?

Fair question, my brother, and with a simple answer. Jesus was 100% focused on His mission. Being married would have interfered with it.

I highly doubt that Scripture would leave out such an important detail in Jesus' life were that true.

The whole idea is unmerited and unbiblical.

And yes, we, the Church, are His bride, so no earthly spouse.

this makes the most sense to me. He had a specific agenda, the prophecies talk about it, and Jesus teaches on it. i dont think He was married the bible would have mentioned it.
i just always thought it strange that the very idea was looked at as heresy in itself. i dont get why its such a big deal.

Hello jaybird88 and all,

First, it was not Jesus mission to get married, but to satisfy the righteous requirements of the law and to pay the penalty for our sins. Scripture also reveals that Jesus was not married and had no children:

"He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth. In his humiliation he was deprived of justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth.” (Isa.53:7-8)

because we are His bride?
where does Jesus talk about this?

2 Corinthians 11King James Version (KJV)

11 Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

Jesus was not married for that was not His mission, and purpose, according to the will of the Father, which when Jesus was on the cross,He said,it is finished, the only purpose He came to earth for,the cross.

Even Paul said it is better for a person not to marry, for they can dedicate themselves to God more,so how much more would it had of been for Jesus.

Jesus' purpose was to only provide salvation, and show the way to God,and how to have a relationship with God,and that is all He was involved in.

Nothing was going to distract from Jesus only going about preaching the kingdom of God,and the Gospel. There was no play time for Jesus,at least not in His adult ministry, and even at 12 years old Jesus said to His parents, don't you know I must be about MY Father's business.

Jesus was only about His Father's business, and to do His will.

The truth is Jesus could not get married, could not have children, could not go on vacation with His physical family, because He was on earth for only one purpose, and it would take all His time, except when asleep, and that is salvation, and Jesus said He did not even have a house to call His own.

Dan 11:36 And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.
Dan 11:37 Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.
Dan 11:38 But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.

The man of sin will have no desire of women, for he is not interested in a wife, and children, and to raise a family, for his only purpose it to learn all he can concerning the occult, trying to harness the power of nature, witchcraft,so he can be the New Age Christ, and exalt himself above all that is called God,or is worshipped, and above all people.

Jesus' only purpose is to provide salvation, and show the way to God.

Jesus' purpose is to only bring people to God,and the man of sin's purpose is to try to deceive people away from God,and to exalt himself, and that is all they will be interested in.

these are some great responses on the mission of Jesus and scripture references pointing that He wasnt married. i dont think he was married and im not making a claim He was married.
my question is, if He had been married, how does that undo everything He did?

Having no descendants is not proof of bachelorhood.
Jesus also said His kingdom was not of this world.
How would being married change that? It wouldn't.
Fact is, we are simply not told.

I don't know that it would matter. In any case, what evidence is there of the claim?

Really Magenta? That scripture has no bearing on the fact that Jesus was not married? In order for Jesus to have earthly descendants, he would have had to have been married and had children. That is what the scripture means. Amazing!

Something I just thought of.......not a doctrinal statement though:

What about the possibility that Jesus, being the second Adam, also had a woman's psyche in him (even though He was physically a man). Remember that prior to Eve being taken from Adam in the garden of Eden, Adam was a complete human being. The woman was formed from one of his ribs and a part of his psyche was also given to her. Again, I'm not saying that this is definitely true, but throwing it out there as a possibility.

Therefore, that could be one possible reason why Christ was not married. Marriage is a union between a man and a woman, and going on the assumption that He is human in the fullest sense (as well as being fully God), such a union wouldn't be necessary for Him.

Jesus Christ is God incarnated. His love for his creature goes beyond sexual attraction. It's a pure love, not erotic love.

because we are His bride?
Exactly. The image of God being the groom and we being the bride is used also in the O.T. Only that in the OT, the bride, Israel, is presented as adulterous (harlot).
This relationship between God and His people is being re-used in the N.T. where the Church (the expanded Israel) is His bride. Saint Paul compares the marriage between a man and a woman with the covenant between Jesus Christ (the groom) and His church (the bride): the man must love the woman like Christ loved the Church. The covenant is seen as a marital alliance based on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for His Church.

Jesus was God come in the flesh.. He was not subject to sexual desires and thus would not seek a wife.. The offense caused by talk of Jesus being married to Mary Magdalene come because it is seen as an attack on the divinity of Christ.. Because if Jesus had carnal desires then Jesus was just a normal man.. And if Jesus was just a normal man then the Bible and Christianity are false and founded on lies..
