Matthew 8:19) And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. 20 .) And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

Thinking about this, and how sometimes we are not content with such as we have. Yet, what we have, we should praise God for, for God is surely good, and He will provide for our "needs." I strive to be content with such as I have, and not give in to the spirit of discontent that causes us to "regret our present circumstance."

The Author of Hebrews said:

Chapter 13, Verse 5

5) Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
6 .) So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

I know it isn't as easy as it sounds, but I believe if we are able to learn to be content with such as we have, there would be far less stress and discontent in our lives, which would enable us to be better servants to His will for us.

God bless.........

A good post from you again!
It is simple but hard...how this is possible I don't know!
A man said, we are discontented because we don't want the best.
In discontent (as in the grumbling and complaining in the desert by Israel) with our circumstances is some unbelief. We are saying we do not think God is doing the best for us because we see the best as whatever is comfortable. We don't want to be exercised by God so that we grow in our trust. But our entire race is a race of trust (faith) in Him. And He exercises our faith to bring endurance in our faith. The faith is the muscle that grows so we don't faint before we reach the end of the race. And He doesn't exercise us to hurt us - He does so so that it will end to His glory, which He knows IS our happiness forever. But we hear words hissed in our ear - is God REALLY doing what is best for you by allowing this or that...?

One of my favorite verses to keep in mind is 1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

The verses before verse 6 speak of our conduct in the workplace, as well as what we believe concerning wealth (supposing that gain is godliness).

The verses after verse 6 speak of being content with food and raiment and how riches can cause a snare because the love of money is the root of all evil. Money in and of itself is not evil, but the love of money causes people to err from the faith and pierce themselves through with many sorrows.

In Philippians 4, Paul describes his lifestyle ---

11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

I agree that we need to keep our focus on God and learn to trust in Him and His provision for us. As long as we have Him in our hearts and minds, the riches of this world lose their luster. Everything becomes dull compared to the radiance of knowing our Father and experiencing His love for us.
