I created a similar thread 2 years ago because at the time, there were a lot of references to the "Law" on this forum, but very few quotes of the specific Laws themselves. I think we're at a similar place with a bunch of new faces on the forum. In order to weed out a lot of the commentary from that time, I'm re-posting the Laws themselves and not "bumping up" the entire thread. I will keep my comments to a minimum.

These Laws are usually referred to as a whole unit and judged or analyzed as such. These laws are usually deemed to be burdensome and inapplicable to Christians today. However, when these commands are looked at individually and on their own merit, they can provide great insight and application for Christians today. While some of them are in fact not physically applicable for various reasons, I believe ALL of them are applicable physically and/or spiritually. This thread is primarily meant to simply list the commands themselves.

So for the sake of information and clarity, I'll be posting the actual commands and verses of all 6113 laws in groups of their relevant sections (not all at once.) I'm using the grouping and ordering as compiled by the Jewish scholar Maimonides, aka Rambam.

Why? This is a Christian forum and Christians are not under the Law.

Isn't it great that God gave Moses 10 and in no time at all they had 613.

Exo 16:28 And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?
this text shows whos laws... they were not Moses's,
Exo 18:16 When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them known the statutes of God, and his laws.
Lev 26:46 These are the statutes and judgments and laws, which the LORD made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.in whos laws?
so notuptome I ask you is there really any biblical basis for your statement?

I know!..James says that if we break one law - we are guilty of it all. I'd rather be in Christ and not under the law but grace alone.

I have a tough enough time with the Ten Commandments, same as most people. 613 laws of the mitzvot is asking entirely too much.

I can just make up another 5,500 laws. Man has a habit of doing that anyway.

If you would read what I posted you would see that I said God gave them to Moses not that Moses made them up himself. the priesthood presumed to expand the laws. Any reasonable person would observe that even if God had given only the first commandment no man would have kept it perfectly as God demands.

Even the most moral man cannot meet Gods perfect standard. Christ alone because He was God was able but no man born of a woman ever kept the law perfectly.

Romans 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
17 ¶ Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
18 And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;
19 And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,
20 An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.
21 Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?
22 Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?
23 Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?

Universal and timeless. What Christian would feel burdened by being commanded to love God? Or to love God in the way that pleases God? Or to be set apart from other nations and be known for which God we love and serve?

Being given God's blueprint for moral and holy lifestyle, is truly God's grace of the first kind. Too many believe that Torah is bad, bad, bad and they should steer clear of it have a wrong attitude.

God first loved us thus we desire to show our love in return by his gracious blueprints. Some commands are timeless and state they are forever.

Some are as simple as standing in the presence of an older person....if there are no seats available, then in the spirit of love your neighbor, offer your chair and you stand.

God's laws, commandments, suggestions, for an entire society, if obeyed, makes those people as having something to be desired by neighboring communities. It would be those filled to overflowing with the Holy Spirit flowing and touching all in its path, flowing through your neighbors.

Thank you, Brother! Blessings to you as well!

We just had child #5 3 weeks ago so needless to say, life is a bit different these days. We had another boy, so the boys outnumber the girls now. There's not quite as amazing as God adding to our family and to His Kingdom!

The next group of commands, these ones relating to the Law itself. Again, for the purposes of seeing what the Law and its commands really say.

Torah/Law/Pentateuch

10 Deuteronomy 6:7 - On reciting the Sh'ma each morning and evening.
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

11 Deuteronomy 6:7 - On studying and teaching Torah.
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

12 Deuteronomy 6:8 - On binding Tefillin on the head.
And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

13 Deuteronomy 6:8 - On binding Tefillin on the hand.
And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

14 Numbers 15:38 - On making Tzitzit with thread of blue, garments corners.
Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue:

15 Deuteronomy 6:9 - On affixing a Mezuzah to doorposts and gates.
And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

16 Deuteronomy 31:12 - On Assembling each 7th year to hear the Torah read.
Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the Lord your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:

17 Deuteronomy 17:18 - On that a king must write a copy of Torah for himself.
And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites:

18 Deuteronomy 31:19 - On that everyone should have a Torah scroll.
Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.

19 Deuteronomy 8:10 - On praising God after eating, Grace after meals.
When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the Lord thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.
(I’m not sure why this command is included here, but that’s how Rambam grouped it.)

The number is actually 613. I would like to meet the person who can keep them all 24/7 and prove it.
