Many THINK they have been saved. Easy believism is a key to the wide gate. Many will say on that day, LORD, LORD...

Many will say, "didn't I do?" Jesus doesn't "know" any who have substituted their own works for His finished work.

On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’
And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Perhaps you'd like to offer some Scripture to support this assertion?

Right. As you should know by now, lawlessness is seeking to replace God and His activity with your own activity. Where we see lawlessness is in those who try to set the Law loose from its moorings in the activity of God by substituting their own activity for His.

Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.

Disciplemike,

The reason why they are called "workers of lawlessness" is because they are not having faith in Christ, which is demonstrated right in the scripture. When they find out that they will not inherit the kingdom of God, their very response reveals that they are trusting in in their own works "did we not prophecy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many miracles in your name." They will have been trusting in their own efforts instead of having faith in Christ for their salvation. Consequently, anyone not in a faith covenant with Christ, is a law breaker.

Right, So you had better stop making a practice of replacing God and His activity with yourself and your activity.

Yes, but those who are in Christ and no longer under the law and that because they have died to it. Those who are in Christ are no longer under the laws authority. It no longer has power over us. When a person fails at the law it brings wrath and death. The power of sin is the law and no one can keep it. Those who trust in the keeping of the law as a requirement for salvation will be rejected. You can't trust in the works of the law and have faith in Christ at the same time! For they cancel each other out. Faith is trusting in Christ as the One who provided salvation and the keeping of the law is an attempt to earn salvation by ones own merits.

"I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!"

I am not making anything up. It's right there in the verse. In response to them not inheriting the kingdom of God, they reveal that they are trusting in their own works which is the casting out of demons, doing many miracles and prophesying." These are the works that they are trusting in to inherit the kingdom of God, which are their own works. Please don't tell me that that is not what the verse says because it is right there in front of you. The correct and only response should have been "but Lord, Lord, didn't you shed your blood for us?"

"Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

"Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 7:21 (ESV2011, MBM)
The will of the Father is to believe in the One whom He sent, Jesus Christ, and to love one another. The will of the Father is not our attempting to keep the law, but to believe in His Son who met the righteous requirements of the law, completely and perfectly, something that we could not and cannot do. By trusting in Christ we are credited with righteousness. God sees believers through Christ's righteousness. No one will be justified before God by the keeping of the law. But those under the law will be condemned by the law.

A lot of people claim to have the Messiah living within, but their actions and words violate God's commandments. It will not work this way. God is not the author of confusion. If Christ is within a person, and making the choices, then their physical life will be very similar to His. Easy believism is when people claim to be Christian but living like the rest of the world. They claim they love God, but it just isn't showing. This is when it is said, "depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness".

If believing in Jesus Christ is so easy, why do so many not believe??

Perhaps so. After we've been saved, though, we want to repent.
