This encouragement is from Rick Renner and Sparkling Gems. I hope it blesses you as we see some thin as that the Lord Jesus has done for us.

Look at What You’ve Been Given In Jesus Christ!

[TD="class: ecxmain-subheader"]You have been given so much in Jesus Christ! You have no legitimate reason for failing to be an awesome success in life, because you have so much going for you! In fact, you have much more going for you than you could possibly imagine. Today let me encourage you with just a few of the things you’ve been given in Jesus Christ!

John 1:12 says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” This verse reveals that you received divine power the day you became a child of God. The word “power” is the Greek word exousia. It describes delegated authority or influence. The day you chose to make Jesus your Lord and Savior is the day He delegated to you the power and authority to become a child of God. Think of it — at that moment of decision, all the power, authority, and divine influence that is resident within the mighty name of Jesus Christ came to live on the inside of you!

So rather than complain that you’re weak and nothing special, it’s time to start laying claim to what is stored up inside you! The same explosive, dynamic, phenomenal authority and power that resides within Jesus has now been delegated to reside in you!

As if that wasn’t already enough, Second Corinthians 5:17 declares, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” This verse says you’re a brand-new creature if you are in Christ Jesus. The word “new” is from the Greek word kainos, and it describes something that is brand new or recently made. It also carries the idea of something that is superior. This means when Jesus Christ came into your life, you were made brand, spanking new! The new you is superior to the old you! In fact, you are so new that this verse calls you a new “creature.”

The word “creature” is the Greek word ktisis. It is the same word used to describe the creation of the world. When God created the universe, he used no existing materials or old elements to make it. Everything in creation was newly made. Now that same word is used to describe what happened to you the day you got saved. Everything about you is new! You’re not an amended, corrected, improved version of what you used to be. You are an absolutely brand-new creation! You are completely detached from the person you once were before Christ.

Psalm 103:12 tells you how far your old ways have been removed from you: “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.” When Jesus Christ came into your life, He created you to be free from the past, free from the negative effects of your family, and liberated from all former hang-ups — in short, a brand-new creature!

So stop laying claim to your family’s genetic problems, inheritable sicknesses, dysfunctional behavior, disorders, hang-ups, curses, or any other negative thing that was a part of your life before Christ. That old person no longer exists. He is dead. You are brand new.

But wait — there’s so much more that you’ve been given in Jesus Christ! For instance, Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

The first part of this verse says that you and I are God’s “workmanship.” This comes from the Greek word poiema. The word poiema carries the idea of something that is artfully created. The Greek word for a poet, poietes, comes from this same word. In reference to a poet, this Greek word would denote one who has the extraordinary ability to write or create a literary masterpiece.

Because Paul uses the word poiema to explain what happened when you became a child of God, it emphatically means that on the day you got saved, God put forth His most powerful and creative effort to make you new. Once God was finished making you new, you became a masterpiece, skillfully and artfully created in Christ Jesus. There’s nothing cheap about you at all! God’s creative, artistic, intelligent genius went into your making.

Look how much you’ve been given in Jesus Christ! Don’t you think it’s time to stop moaning about how dumb, stupid, ugly, or untalented you “feel” compared to others? Those “feelings” are all lies. Some of that may have been true before you were born again, but none of it is true of you now that you are in Christ. God turned you into something spectacular. That’s who you are now! So lay claim to your new identity. Adjust your thinking and talking to reflect who you really are!

Amen!

“If only you had known on this day what would bring you peace!" Luke 19:42

More Christians would live joyful and victorious lives if only they let Jesus do the work. But no! They wanna do it themselves.

I don't know grace and Abigail...I am pretty ugly...wrinkly, and I make funny noises when I walk. Ill give it a try though and let you know what happens. Can't hurt...just watch the news...if you come across a report of a ugly old man went to preach and got hit by a bus...chances are....but who knows.

[ for me anyway] the greatest Christian virtue is humility, which scripture even describes the grace of Christ as voluntary humility:
"For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich." (2 Corinthians 8:9)
"My grace is sufficient for thee, for my strength is made perfect in weakness." (2 Corinthians 12:9)

And as for me I will seek those things above, and set my affections on things above, not on things on the earth; for I look not at the things which are seen, because they are temporal; but I look at the things which are not seen, which are eternal.
(Colossians 3:1-2)
(2 Corinthians 4:18)

"Seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence." (2 Peter 1:3)

Amen. There is nothing that can be added to "everything".

I have a question, does anybody else feel that when something is brought to your attention or revealed to you about your identity of what God has done in you or thinks of you, that because of past stuff ups since being a Christian, you feel that it no longer applies to you?
I'm not really sure how to word this question I'm sorry...but I do, it's the first thing that comes to me, perhaps it's my own low view of self worth, or maybe it's the enemy trying to steal the word from my heart so that it doesn't come to fruition? It's a real battle that I've recently just noticed and it's hard to push back on. I don't know what the solution is but just to continue feeding myself the truth of the matter.

Then I think about the message on Sunday that hasnt left me all week about the prodigal son who returned to his father with a low view of himself because of what he had done but in actuality, his father never saw him any less than a son.

And then we see his brother angry because the fathers adoration for the returning son, thinking his brother doesn't deserve it...boy, how much do we see that around? God! We need a shift in our thinking! Haha get em Jesus!

Most miss that part about the older son, especially and conveniently those of the Law. Robert Farrar Capon tells it like it is;

“You’re worried about permissiveness—about the way the preaching of grace seems to say it’s okay to do all kinds of terrible things as long as you just walk in afterward and take the free gift of God’s forgiveness… While you and I may be worried about seeming to give permission, Jesus apparently wasn’t. He wasn’t afraid of giving the prodigal son a kiss instead of a lecture, a party instead of probation; and he proved that by bringing in the elder brother at the end of the story and having him raise pretty much the same objections you do. He’s angry about the party. He complains that his father is lowering standards and ignoring virtue—that music, dancing, and a fattened calf are, in effect, just so many permissions to break the law. And to that, Jesus has the father say only one thing: “Cut that out! We’re not playing good boys and bad boys anymore. Your brother was dead and he’s alive again. The name of the game from now on is resurrection, not bookkeeping.”

Yes, i do know how that feels. it's like a split personality, because the brain comprehends the OP and agrees with every word as absolute truth. But the other part of knowing is the part that puts it into our walk. I deal with that disconnect constantly. Mix in a little, or a lot, of the distractions and cares we have to juggle everyday and bang, we got us an emotional frenzy.

or clay on the wheel? It's like some things take no time to sink in, salvation for instance. But then we need to work that out, seems like that is what we're talking about. What we are willing to give up correlates to how fast we grow. Some of us are brought up to "Never Surrender!" and it is completely contrary to what He wants us to do. Trust issues, do we have them? Why yes I do...working it out, it's a grind.

To me - It's all in the renewing of our mind to the truth of Christ's finished work for us and it seems it takes some time to "un-learn" the other stuff we were programmed to believe from both the world and from our well-meaning religious teachings too.

The true Christian life is "seeing" what "already is in us" because we are in Christ. We are working out "what already is inside of us" as we get our minds transformed by the Holy Spirit.

The battle is in the mind. We are to fix our hope completely on the grace that is being brought to us when Christ is revealed to us. It's all about Christ and what He has already done for us!

1 Peter 1:13
[SUP]13 [/SUP] Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace being brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
