GOD had to send his SON JESUS to stand in our place and die for our sins! HE then rose again after defeating hell so HE could stand before GOD and intervene for us! So we are only made righteous through HIM! So just like salvation we can not do anything to obtain it. We can't do anything to obtain righteousness. We get to wear Jesus'!

The Bible says that Abraham believed God,and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

When we believe in the account God gave concerning His Son,that His shed blood can take away our sins, and we can have a spiritual relationship with God,then it is counted unto us as righteousness, which God said a person must come to Him,knowing that He exists, and He is a rewarder to all those who follow Him.

When we believe what God says it is counted as righteousness.

Actually we are Righteous the very second we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Its when we Believe that Jesus IS God is when we become Righteous, not after we read the Scriptures.

Where in the Scriptures does God say we become Righteous AFTER we read the Scriptures?

Romans 4:3-6
[SUP]3 [/SUP]For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” [SUP]4 [/SUP]Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due. [SUP]5 [/SUP]But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness, [SUP]6 [/SUP]just as David also speaks of the blessing on the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:

Reading the account God gave concerning His Son is WORKS. We do not become Righteous by WORKS.

Righteousness is unobtainable in our faulty human bodies .... BUT.. We are capable of believing in the righteousness of God and trusting in the Atonement God has secured for our salvation.. In doing this we obtain imputed righteousness as a loving gift from God..

[h=2]Righteousness = doing what's right. Although we all fall short from time to time, repent and you're good to go again.[/h]

A wonderful truth of imputed righteousness. I have a question for you though. VVhat of holiness? How does God's grace allow us to walk in righteousness?

Seek first His Kingdom and HIS righteousness and these other things are added to us.

His righteousness pleased God. Our faith PLEASES God.

Why? Because we are agreeing with HIS WAY and not trying to make our OWN WAY.

Romans 10:5-11 5 Moses writes this about the righteousness that is by the law: “The person who does these things will live by them.”[a] 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’”[b] (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 “or ‘Who will descend into the deep?’”[c] (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).8 But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,”[d] that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim:9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”

Righteousness is obtained through Christ.. That doesn't mean that we don't thrive to be righteous, but that we're not made righteous by our own deeds or accomplishments. Its the soap & water that cleanses us, but we must be willing to jump in the shower and scrub :)

Righteousness as for salvation is through Messiah,

but you cannot say righteousness is unobtainable. That is not Scriptural.

There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife [was] of the daughters of Aaron, and her name [was] Elisabeth.
And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
Luke 1:5-6 (KJV, MBM)

Romans 10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

Philippians 3:9 - and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith.

There is no righteousness that can be obtained by people trying to keep the Law. Zacharias and his wife walked in the temple requirements which is what righteous means here.

They were blameless in keeping the ordinances of the Law. This is NOT the righteousness needed as in Christ's righteousness. There is no one that attains the righteousness of God by man's attempt at keeping the Law as mailmandan showed in Romans 10:3-4.

The scriptures say that there are none that are righteous as is needed to be with the Lord for eternity. Only Christ's righteousness gets people in - NOT the keeping of the law.

the New Testament is so clear about what you just said, it baffles me why folks want to keep pushing law, law, law. no one can obtain righteousness by self-effort.

It's a deception. It's part of the last days deception. Paul said in the last days people would be "ant-Christ" ( who is our righteousness ) - NOT "anti-God". Law-keepers are all for God ( through the Law ) but really negate the grace of Christ by their anti-Christ belief system.

Again mailmandan's scriptures say it all.

Romans 10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

Rom 10:2-10

2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.
3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.
6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)
7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)
8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Not for those God call, justify and glorify. Glorification brings this righteousness.....

No, the Lord told us to repent of our sin (Matt 4:17).
