Faith? What kind do you have?

There are different kinds of Faith. We have Faith in facts, we have Faith in Works, we have Faith in wrong object, and we have Saving Faith.

1. Faith in facts. 2+2 = 4 is a Faith that 2 plus 2 equals 4. Fact, Jesus is God is a fact and even Demons believe Jesus is God. James 2:19

2. Faith in works. Believing in their Works they do, does not produce a changed life.

3. Faith in wrong object. Believing in our works for our Salvation with us being the object of receiving our Salvation by ourselves.

4. Saving Faith. This type of faith, true faith, will result in two things: eternal life and a desire to do good works.

Which ones are from false Religions like JW's, Catholics,ect and which one is from God?

I would like to hear what you believe.

I believe that you post doesn't contain the gospel message about what saving faith really is.

Instead it is a dart aimed at others.

When I think of faith James chapter 2 comes to mind.. It stats more than once that faith without works is dead... We may be saved by faith an not by works but if you truly have faith an believe in Jesus you should be doing his work... Teaching, Preaching, leading, serving, helping ect... As it says in James chpt 2 so me your faith without works and I'll show you my faith by my works... That being said if you really look at yourself an realize your not doing any work for Christ you might need to bring your faith back to life

This is both an honest and refreshing reply, The truth is no matter what we say there will always be some opposition, however if you base your beliefs on the scriptures in context (Isa. 8:20) you need not worry if others think your wrong, in fact your in some good company...
For me I see it this way: if what I believe be truth according to scripture, and my understand is also correct, then any scrutiny will serve to accomplish 2 things: 1( it will confirm what I already believe, or 2) it will show if there be error in what I believe, either way its good for my growth.

Yes the faith of Christ as work of His labor of love is the kind of faith that produces substance .A clean heart by a new eternal spirit. Our Cry;.. ..."create in us a new heart and a new spirit to deliver us from this body of death".

Eze 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

If we have that exclusive faith (the faith of Go) in respect to persons or our own selves we blaspheme the holy name we are called by.

Faith works in two direction, His towards us and us moving according to it, towards Him . The key to remember is it works both ways. From, or of, and to, as in.

Jam 2:1 My brethren, have not the “faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory”, with respect of persons.

Yes he uses the example of Abraham justified by the works of God to show us the substance thereof

Those are the imputed works of God according to that parable . The source of His grace. He is the just and justified of our faith towards Him.

I think we could paraphrase the below as... see how Christ’s faith worked with his works and by that work of Christ was Christ’s faith made perfect/complete

Striking wicked fist in debate is listed as one of the sins. According to the scripture it is not the way we can be heard on high. Humbling ones self in view of His mercy, by trying to share the good will of God is a challenge.

Yes we are to study the Scriptures, but its also the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit who tells us the Truth in the Scriptures in what God is saying. When we study we also need to study what the Great Godly persons of God has to say also. They have a treasure chest full of Truths. Just read what they wrote hundreds of years ago.

We are Saved by Faith, not by works. We do Works because we have Faith. How does one bring their Faith back? If you have Faith you can never lose Faith. If a person is not doing works for God then he really needs to examine himself to see if he really has the Faith that Jesus is our Lord and Savior.

There are many trying to do works to receive Faith. A good example is the Cults that believe in Works for Faith.

Please point out to me where doing my own studies = not reading Scripture. I didn't specify what I do or do not read, so it's funny to me that you automatically assume I don't. As for your comment about the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to show us truth...please explain to me then how there are so many different interpretations that the believers feel are "right" while others with other opinions are "wrong". Seems like some folks might not have that indwelling, ya think?

People that have not been reborn will only believe If they can perceive with one or more of their five senses,but people that have been born of the Spirit of GOD should renew their mind believing without a need to perceive with the five senses .

Tell a person there Is a chair there for them to sit down on and the first thing they will want to do Is look and see the chair,feel the chair to see how sturdy It Is ect....

The kind of faith that pleases GOD Is based on belief.

Yes, many do have different interpretations of the same Scriptures. This is because many interpret the Scriptures to prove their Doctrines, instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to teach them the Truth in the Scriptures. A good example is the Catholic Church. They interpret the Scriptures to prove their Doctrines instead of listening to what God says is the Truth.

Also many who claim to be a Christian are really false prophets and do not have the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit. So YES, there are many who do not have the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit. This is why we have so many heated discussions on this chat site.

What i was trying to say is if you want to know the Truth please do not lean on your own understanding to find the Truth. Many a time I have looked at a verse and said this is what it is saying. Only to find out later by reading what great men say that i was TOTALLY wrong!

I too struggle with my Faith because i was born and raised in the Catholic Church. Your struggles are also my struggles because of growing up in a false Church. Slowly i am learning. Slowly i am walking closer with Jesus. And yes i struggle a lot with everything.

I tune anyone out who takes an opportunity to slam the RCC. I am not Catholic, but much of my extended family is, and whatever your view of the RCC or anyone else here, I'll take my family over anyone else any day of the week.

If you could have made a valid point without trying to drag the mackerel munchers through the mud, I would have been willing to listen more intently.

As for learning from others - not likely to happen. I have an inherent distrust of people. I'd rather just study on my own and be wrong than to study with others and be led astray. At least if I am wrong, I can only blame myself.
